Had ya fooled yesterday eh?
A new month means new projects from the Garden Girls! We were all given a color and had to make a monochromatic layout based on that color. My color was mint green:

ME & MY GIRL

Description: I just bought these crocheted doilies by We R Memory Keepers and was so excited when I was given the color mint green because whatdoyaknow - the doilies are mint green! Since doilies are on the girly side, I chose some pictures of me and Jane and then went through my stash and pulled all the mint green products I could find: patterned papers, embellishments, stickers, spray mist, die cuts, pearls, so on and so forth. I thought it was going to be a challenge to only work with one color, but by using a variety of tints, tones, and shades of mint green and products with different depths (from the flatness of the papers to the thickness of the brads and buttons), I was able to create dimension and interest. Also by using black and white photos, it creates two focal points that really pop off the page. The new jewel hairpin from the Maggie Holmes collection is probably my favorite embellishment on this page - it's the perfect finishing touch of girlyness!

Journaling says: Janey girl and I have so much fun together. We cuddle and snuggle and giggle and laugh. We make each other smile so easily. Sure not every second is sunshine and roses, but most of the time she's a sweet, darling, beautiful angel.

How to: Trim strips of patterned paper, angle the ends, and adhere them in a chevron pattern across a mint green cardstock background. Layer photos using pop dots onto the layout then tuck embellishments under the photos such as crocheted doilies, paper leaves, and die cuts. Slide a jewel hairpin and paper clip with a fabric tab onto one of the photos. Stamp a sentiment and date on a chipboard speech bubble and add it to the same photo. Create lines of brads, buttons, and acrylic pieces over the patterned paper strips for texture and whimsy. Use chipboard letter stickers and an ampersand badge to make the title across the top and bottom of the middle line of chevron paper strips. Make a little cluster of embellishments on the bottom left corner. Drop two colors of aqua spray mist across the page and sprinkle pearls on top.

Supplies: Cardstock, leaves, stamps (date, sentiment), pen, adhesive: American Crafts; Patterned paper: American Crafts, BasicGrey, Studio Calico; Brads: American Crafts, Crate Paper, Studio Calico; Jewel hairpin: Crate Paper; Buttons: American Crafts, Crate Paper; Chipboard: American Crafts (letters), Studio Calico (speech bubble); Pearls: Doodlebug Design; Flower cameo: Webster's Pages; Badge, paper clip with fabric tab, die cuts (feather, flowers, label, sentiment), spray mist: Studio Calico;  Crocheted doilies: We R Memory Keepers; Ink: StazOn
