The One with American Crafts "Scraplift" Layouts

Tuesday, July 9, 2013

I had a pair of layouts up on the American Crafts blog yesterday and now I'm sharing them here! The theme was "scraplifting" another American Crafts design team member. I've been a loooong time fan of Corrie Jones' bright, fun, and eclectic style and chose a couple of her projects to scraplift.
On this layout of Corrie's I fell in love with the chevon paper arrows.
 Here is my version:
BEFORE AFTER

Journaling says: I sure do love your long, curly, golden-brown, tousled California boy locks, but even I admit they were getting a little out of control! So we took you over to Jamie's house to get your hair cut. It's amazing how a trim can make you look so much older!

How to: Sew down every 2" of a gray cardstock background using white thread. Trim 1/4" strips from a variety of patterned papers then angle the ends. Adhere the paper strips in a chevron pattern along the stitched lines. Adhere a photo on the bottom left and top right corners. Add cork Thickers at the bottom of the photos to make a title and add a puffy sticker at the ends. Journal below and above the photos using a white pen. Trim a tag in half and tuck the halves under the photos.

Supplies: Cardstock, stickers (asterisk, heart, letters, vellum border), crosses stamp, adhesive: American Crafts; Patterned paper: American Crafts, Crate Paper, Pebbles, Studio Calico; Tag: Avery; Ink: StazOn; Pen: Uni-Ball Signo; Sewing machine: Bernina; Thread: Coats & Clark

Here is the other project by Corrie Jones I lifted: I love the clustering of punches from bright colors and fun patterns.

 SO SWEET SWEET

Journaling says: If she isn't the sweetest thing ever I don't know what is!

How to: Drop blue, gold, and pink spray mist across a ledge paper background going from the top left down to the bottom right corner. Adhere a photo on the bottom right corner. Punch a bunch of flowers from patterned paper then tuck them under the photo and scatter them outwards. Top some of the flowers with a pearl. Place a few buttons between the flowers. Add chipboard flowers and a bow over and around the photo then use letter stickers, a chipboard sentiment pennant, and a die cut word to make the title over the photo. Write journaling on a chipboard journaling spot with a white pen then tuck it under the photo. Stamp a sentiment and the date on the top right corner.

Supplies: Cardstock, buttons, chipboard (flowers, journaling spot, ribbon, sentiment pennant), stickers (fabric strip, letters), stamps (date, sentiment), adhesive: American Crafts; Patterned paper: American Crafts, Pebbles (background); Pearls: Pebbles; Spray mist: Studio Calico; Pen: Uni-Ball Signo; Ink: StazOn; Flower punches: EK Success, Marvy Uchida; Die cut machine: Cameo
Happy Wednesday!
