The One with American Crafts Cut & Paste Layouts

Tuesday, October 8, 2013

If you don't know by now, I "heart" Amy Tan. I miss seeing her lovely self every now and again in L.A. She just had a baby boy a few weeks ago and I'm so so so excited for her! I've loved every single line she's ever come out with and Cut & Paste is no exception! Here are a couple of layouts I made using Cut & Paste that debuted on the American Crafts blog yesterday:

BROTHER & SISTER by Paige Evans

Journaling says: Sometimes, ok, most of the time, I like to coordinate Fox and Jane's outfits. Today was a gray and neon yellow kind of day! So cute!

How to: Die cut sunrays from patterned paper then back each ray with a different patterned paper. Embroider lines of colored stitching down some of the rays. Trim a photo into a circle and mat it on a circle of gray patterned paper; adhere the photo at the center of the rays. Tuck and layer embellishments all around the photo as shown. Journal on a chipboard speech bubble and place in on the left side of the photo.

Supplies: Patterned paper, stickers (ampersand, asterisk, epoxy borders, fabric photo corner, letters, mini alphabet), chipboard (circle sentiment, pennants, speech bubble, star), resin bow, die cuts (ampersand, sunburst), wood veneer journaling card, date stamp, pen, adhesive: American Crafts; Floss: DMC; Die cut machine: Silhouette Cameo by QuicKutz; Circle cutter: Martha Stewart Crafts

AFTERNOON SNACK by Paige Evans

Journaling says: Fox & Jane simply enjoying an afternoon snack of green grapes. They scarf these things down like candy!

How to: Trim the edges from a gray patterned paper layout background and replace the edges with green patterned paper. Place a mask on the top left and bottom right corners and spray over it with white mist; remove the mask then let the layout dry. Punch starbursts from the Cut & Paste by Amy Tangerine/American Crafts papers and adhere them in four columns down the center of the layout. Sew diagonal lines over the punched shapes. Embellish the centers of some of the punched shapes with fabric brads, chipboard shapes, stickers, and more as shown. Place a photo over the spray misted sections and add fabric photo corners to two corners. Create a title using Thickers along the sides of the photos. Make a subtitle under the left photo the journal below that.

Supplies: Patterned paper, fabric brads, chipboard (ampersand, arrows, stars), stickers (arrow, fabric photo corners, hashtag, letters, mini alphabet, star, words), pen, date stamp, adhesive: American Crafts; Spray mist, mask: Studio Calico; Starburst punch: Jenni Bowlin Studio; Sewing machine: Brother; Thread: Coats & Clark
