One-Page Mini Album by Elsie Robinson

Tuesday, August 6, 2019

Hi everyone, it’s Elsie Robinson here and today I have a cute little mini album to share with you using Paige's Mini Album cut file. I love mini albums which only use one piece of paper for its base, so I really enjoyed creating this album that’s full of photos of my adorable little rescue pup - my absolute pride and joy! I used the Horizon and Whimsical collections.
I firstly started by cutting the base from Whimsical Paper 05. I chose this paper because I wanted a super colorful cover for when the album is closed, but a more “neutral” pattern for the inside pages, so any patterns and embellishments that I placed on top wouldn’t clash.

I cut each of the inner pieces multiple times as I knew I wanted to create some extra hidden pages. I wanted this album to be very colorful, so each section was assigned its own unique color and any embellishments I used matched that paper’s color. This tone-on-tone technique creates a very layered look.

To add in the extra pages to this album, I created a simple hinge by folding a small strip of paper in half, then adhering each of the pages to those halves. On some pages I used small velcro dots to make sure that all of the pages stayed in place when the album is being opened and closed.

If you don’t want to create any extra pages in an album like this but still want a little extra storage, creating some simple pockets is the way to go. On the teal and green pages I created pockets by either using a journaling die cut (from the Horizon Ephemera Die Cuts) or a strip of washi (from the Whimsical Sticker Book) and tucked in labels/photos/bits of matching ephemera.

For another interactive element I cut Paige's Heart Envelope cut file from Horizon  Paper 24. I placed a photo in the middle and used a small piece of velcro to keep it closed.
For the cover I cut the bow and strip of paper from Paper 10 from Whimsical and used velcro to keep the album closed. I also accessorized with one of the cute Whimsical Butterfly Charms! Although this album might be a little chunkier than I originally intended, I love how it’s packed with so much color and fun interactive elements!

Thanks for stopping by and make sure you check out this quick flip-through of the album for a more detailed look at every page!
