Spring Hobonichi by Paula Fiihr

Thursday, February 25, 2021

Welcome back! Paula Fiihr here today with my last post! I have spring on my mind and in my hobonichi today.

This layout came together so easily with these three hand drawn flower sets: Flower Set 1, Flower Set 2, and Flower Set 3. I cut them in different sizes with scraps from Paige’s Go the Scenic Route. The pocket is made with Paper 21 using the We R Memory Keepers Pocket Punch Board. The B-side is showing and I cut a piece from the A-side to layer under the "Making Everyday Memories" Chipboard Sticker. Inside the pocket is a card from Paper 1, on which I added a picture and some journaling to the back, a blue tag from the Ephemera Die Cuts, and a sunshine ticket from Paper 17. On the top I sewed elements together in a cluster along with pink embroidery floss. The finishing touches are the Enamel Dots.

It’s a cute and happy page to remember a time with friends. Hope these flowers make their way onto your layouts! Thanks for stopping by!

Painting the Roses Red Layout by Shimelle

Tuesday, February 23, 2021

As our snow started to melt and we had a brief morning of blue skies, we decided it was time for a trip to Wonderland! Hello friends - it's Shimelle here today and we are painting the roses red and scrapbooking it all!  I'm using Paige's String Art Heart cut file and a sprinkling from several of Paige's paper collections, perfect for making space in my stash for Wonders very soon!

I started by cutting the String Art Heart cut file from white cardstock on my Silhouette Cameo as well as printing two portrait photos just smaller than 3x4". Now I will admit this cut file would look absolutely amazing backed with a variety of papers between all those spaces, but my patience level sometimes says otherwise. I love this look for these photos - backed with just one sheet of paper, all in red. The background here is a pale pink B-side from one of Paige's earliest collections and the red behind the string heart is Paper 17 from Turn the Page. I added the photos in the bottom right corner, overlapping the edge of the heart, with one stuck flat in the background and the foreground photo popped up with foam squares.

The journaling box is actually a 'packing list' die cut from Go the Scenic Route, just turned upside down.  The index tabs along the edges of both photos are from that same Ephemera Die Cuts pack. The other embellishments gathered here include a range of collections: floral stickers from the Bloom Street sticker book, the tree sticker from Truly Grateful, and photo frame and chipboard pieces from Pick-Me-Up.

At the top left corner of the heart, there's another grouping of embellishments taken from the same products - stickers and chipboard pieces. The title follows the line of the heart with my favourite mini foam Thickers. I finished it with a bit of gold mist following the diagonal from the top left to bottom right, but you could create a similar path of motion across the page with small enamel dots or gems if you prefer to keep everything dry when you're crafting.

You can watch this whole page come together in this video:

Thanks so much for taking a look at my project from Wonderland today! I hope you stay on the right side of the Queen of Hearts by scrapbooking with plenty of heart shapes. Which of Paige's beautiful heart cut file designs will you use next?

A Heart Full of Flowers Stamped Layout by Paige Evans

Sunday, February 21, 2021

I made a layout just for fun using my dear friend Zsoka Marko's "A Heart Full of Flowers" Stamp Set! It's soooooo gorgeous and the possibilities with colors are endless!! And I mixed in a bit of my new Wonders collection :)

I started by rubbing an eraser over the "A Heart Full of Flowers" Stamp Set to prep them for ink. Then I grabbed my favorite colors of Altenew cubed inks and got to stamping! I used smooth white cardstock as the foundation. Each heart is made of four layers so I chose four different colors of ink for all 11 hearts. I could never pick a favorite color combo!

Then I fussy cut all of the hearts out to use them on a layout. I chose the purple heart B-side of Paper 2 from my brand new Wonders collection to use as the background and splashed watered down white acrylic paint as a first layer. Then I placed the hearts as well as a photo in a 3 x 4 grid design. I popped up the hearts and the photo with foam squares for dimension.
I wanted the floral hearts to be the focus of this layout so I didn't do too much more embellishing. I added the "HAPPINESS" Puffy Phrase Sticker title directly onto the photo and clustered stickers from the 6x12 Cardstock Stickers and 8-Page Sticker Book along with a strip of the scalloped Washi Tape around the photo.
To finish I wrote journaling with a white pen in a gap between the hearts. Done and done!
I sooo super enjoyed creating just for the fun of it! No pressure, no deadlines, just me and the beautiful "A Heart Full of Flowers" Stamp Set plus a little bit of my new Wonders collection!
Thanks for stopping by today, see you again soon, and happy scrapping!

Memory Explosion Box Party

Saturday, February 20, 2021

A month ago I had some local crafty pals over to create Memory Explosion Boxes!
We all got negative covid tests the day before so we were safe to be in each other's presence :)
My friend Karen's daughter calls it a "BAM BOX" or a "BOOM BOX" which is just too cute!

We began by selecting a size and style of Memory Explosion Box to decorate: Andrea and Mary chose the Large White Memory Explosion Box, Karen chose the Small White Memory Explosion BoxRosie chose the Small Kraft Memory Explosion Box, and I chose the Large Kraft Memory Explosion Box.

Then we covered each and every side, flap, pocket, and all the various lids with patterned papers from the 12x12" Paper PadSprinkle 12x12" Paper Pad6x6" Paper PadDouble Sided 6x6" Paper PadFoil 6x6" Paper Pad, and Glitter 6x6" Paper Pad. A few people also brought some papers from home to incorporate which looked awesome.

Once we all had everything covered, it was time for lunch! We ordered Cafe Rio - soooooo good. Crumbl cookies for dessert! Back to the craft room - time to add photos and embellishments.
We all loved looking at each other's progress and getting inspiration and bouncing off ideas. Not to mention, the conversations! Oh my goodness it was soooo good for the soul to have some girl time!
At about 4pm we cleaned up and then we raided my basement for free craft supplies :)
Ta-da!! Look how cute! Mine is the undecorated lid lol. Mary is giving her box to her mom, Karen documented a fun trip to Lake Tahoe, and Andrea gave hers to her daughter for her birthday. Not shown is Rosie's who is giving hers to her friend and it's filled with inspirational quotes.
BAM! Memory Explosion Boxes galore!
We had a total "blast" making boxes using my Memory Explosion Box supplies found in stores and online exclusively at Michaels!

Virtual Class Layouts & Kits

Friday, February 19, 2021

Hi friends! Here are the 4 layouts we'll be making in my 2 upcoming virtual classes with kits! I also have 2 mini album virtual classes with kits and I will share those samples here as soon as I'm finished creating them :)

LAYOUT CLASS 1 - Saturday March 20th at 10am-12pm Mountain Time

During the live video in a private Facebook Group I will demonstrate how to create the 2 layouts shown below. The video will be saved in the group for those who can't attend the live and to re-watch. There are LOTS of extras leftover in the kit to create many more projects!
Kit price: $60 + shipping*
Virtual Live Class (no kit): $10

BORN TO CREATE - For the first layout we'll learn how to make a woven patterned paper strips background filled in with lots of little bits and pieces using a mixture of my past Pink Paislee/American Crafts collections including Whimsical, Horizon, Truly Grateful, and Go the Scenic Route.

BETTER TOGETHER - For the second layout we'll learn how to fussy cut hearts to create a colorful frame also using bits and pieces of my past Pink Paislee/American Crafts collections. My goal is to show that even though my layouts might look time-consuming, they're actually pretty easy to make in a jiffy! Lots of repetition :)

LAYOUT CLASS 2 - Saturday April 10th at 10am-12pm Mountain Time

During the live video in a private Facebook Group I will demonstrate how to create the 2 layouts shown below. The video will be saved in the group for those who can't attend the live and to re-watch. There are LOTS of extras leftover in the kit to create many more projects!
Kit price: $60 + shipping*
Virtual Live Class (no kit): $10

SOFT KITTY - For the first layout we'll learn how to create a quilt-like background from a single piece of patterned paper. Notice I used three pictures of my kitty cat on top of blankets/quilts which inspired the background :) The embellishments are from my past Pink Paislee/American Crafts collections including Pick-Me-Up, Whimsical, Horizon, Truly Grateful, Bloom Street, and Go the Scenic Route.

ADVENTURE AWAITS - Perhaps my most favorite layout of them all, on this second page we'll learn how to create flowers from patterned paper squares and create a rainbow wreath design.
