HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

The 20th and last of the 20 Days of Halloween Cut Files went out to those who purchased them and here is a bootiful layout made with today's Happy Halloween cut file by Design Team member Ashley Neu! She says, "For this layout I wanted the cut file to stand out from the white cardstock background so I traced the outline of the star with a pencil and smooshed watercolors with a piece of packaging around the pencil lines. I wanted to make the sentiment stand out so I simply traced the negative pieces of the Happy Halloween cut file onto patterned papers from the Bungalow Lane 6x8 Paper Pad, cut them out, and adhered them inside of the cut file with foam adhesive. To add even more interest, I hand stitched around each letter using tone-on-tone stitching. The Thickers and embellishments are also from Bungalow Lane!"

Bats Layout by Lisa Fonseca

Thursday, October 28, 2021

The 17th of the 20 Days of Halloween Cut Files went out to those who purchased them and here is a colorful & batty layout made with today's Bats cut file by Design Team member Lisa Fonseca! She says, "I was so excited to use this fun Bats cut file on a layout! I imagined a lot of fun-colored bats flying around in front of a colorful and bright mixed-media background. That's exactly what I did and I love how it turned out. I used the Truly Grateful and Horizon collections. To add texture, I stitched a piece of vellum on top of each bat, created a cross with embroidery thread, and I used tangled thread underneath some of the bats for a fun bit of texture."

Our Happy Family Layout by Paige Evans

Here is my other layout that appeared in the Fall 2021 issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine which you can download for free HERE! My theme was to create a fall-themed layout with a unique color palette so of course I chose Bungalow Lane which has lots of fall elements and includes the colors pink & blue which I think is a little different.

To begin I grabbed two pieces of the quilted Paper 8. I spent some time cutting out all of the colorful triangles and squares from one of the papers, distressing all of the edges of all the little shapes, and then piecing them back together with foam squares on the second paper. That's essentially the entire technique for this page! I love the dimensional results!

I placed a photo in the center and embellished with an "our happy" Cardstock Sticker (I trimmed off the "home" part), colorful banner Cardstock Sticker, and "FAMILY" Thickers.

I wrote a bit of journaling directly below the photo and finished by adding tiny button and hearts from the Foam StickersEmbossed Puffy Stickers, and Cardstock Stickers in a few of the empty spaces of the background.

I hope this layout inspires you to pick up my Bungalow Lane collection and try out the paper piecing technique and also that you enjoy browsing through the Fall 2021 issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine! See you again soon!

Plaid Moon Layouts by Audrey Mutschall

Wednesday, October 27, 2021

The 16th of the 20 Days of Halloween Cut Files went out to those who purchased them and here are two too-cute-to-spook layouts made with today's Plaid Moon cut file by Design Team member Audrey Mutschall! She says, "For the first layout I used my Silhouette to cut a large title/quote out of white cardstock on the right side of the page. I used the font 'Sweet Hipster' for this title then backed it with paper from Go the Scenic Route. I cut the Plaid Moon out of another patterned paper from the same collection and used the offset feature in Silhouette to create a second layer to back the first moon. I had leftover diamond 'stars' that I'd previously cut out for another layout, so I placed those around my page, adhering them with foam tape for added dimension. My photo is mounted on two layers of paper and embellished very simply with a few fussy cut flowers and butterflies. To finish the layout I splashed Lindy's magical shimmer paints onto the background, added a few sequins for sparkle, and some clusters of silver thread for added interest!"

"For my second layout I also used the Go the Scenic Route collection. The Plaid Moon is cut out of blue patterned paper and backed with a second 'offset' layer in yellow, which is then backed with another floral paper - you can never have too many patterned papers, haha! I cut clouds out of white cardstock, placed them on patterned paper, trimmed around them, then mounted those on yet another layer of white cardstock, and trimmed around those. I wanted them to have lots of dimension! I added my title in large Thickers from the same collection and embellished the layout with a few fussy cut hearts and some stars from Paige's Stars Background cut file."

TN Spread by Stefanie Ried

Hello and welcome to a new project by me, Stefanie Ried! Sometimes it takes very little to beautify a page or a project. Do you feel the same way? I was enamored with this narrow strip of paper with mini little colorful buttons. This strip is included 2 times on Paper 23 - once in the middle of the paper and once as the barcode strip. I immediately fell in love with them. I also had a photo to go with it in my mind. I've been looking for a long time for the right motifs for this photo of many Chucks. I decided to create a spread in my Traveler's Notebook from my trip to Chile.

Additionally I added a pocket behind the photo. In this one is another booklet with the story and the photo of my souvenir from this beautiful country. The paper with the stars, Paper 10, matched perfectly with my new yellow shoes.

I first fussy cut the little buttons with fine-tipped scissors. Then I punched the holes with a mini hole punch. I applied Glossy Accents to each button so they look more like plastic and are more stable. The gloss also makes the colors look more vibrant.

When the buttons were dry, I used matching colored thread for the holes. I attached the yarn to the back of the buttons with mini glue dots then added them into the TN with small 3D glue dots.

I glued the photo to the opposite page. Behind it the notebook is hidden.

I made it a little smaller. A small slip pocket holds the journaling. I then decorated with a few bits & pieces from Bungalow Lane. All done!

See you next time!
