My favorite project of the year is complete! In this post we'll take a look at my December Daily 2021:
Here is a quick YouTube video flipping through the album:
I did a 45 minute live walk and talk through on Instagram if you want to hear and learn about every page:
Like my album from last year and from 2019, this year's album features my 25 Days of Christmas Cut Files for 2021 and TEXTURE. Texture in the form of an embroidered cover, ribbon stitched to every page, a totally chunky charm, and lots of bits sticking out everywhere.
I did a separate post about the embroidered cover HERE.
Almost everything is made from supplies I already had. I have heaps of Christmas goodies that I've collected through the years that I like to use for this annual project. The exception is a few of these charms that are new: the beads and traditional colored tassels are from Emily Inspired Designs and the pastel tassel is from Create Happy Handmade. I also grabbed the new DCWV paper pads from JoAnn but they're already sold out. I bet the ones for next year will be similar and just as good :) Aaand I used the digital Pink Christmas collection by Kelly Bangs Creative. The colors and icons speak to my soul!
The ribbons, paperclips, buttons, ornaments, and more were all just in my stash. I know that's not very helpful, but my best advice is to USE WHAT YOU LOVE! Use what speaks to you and makes you happy! I definitely tend to be a "collection" scrapbooker (using only 1 collection for my layouts), but for this project, nothing is off limits, everything is game!
My last couple December Dailies were on the smaller side: 6" square last year and 4x8" the year before, and both featured my Christmas cut files. Both years I swore I was going to keep it more simple the next year: traditional pocket pages in a 6x8 album. Well, I sort of did that this year :) The finished size is 7.25 x 9", essentially the same size as the pocket pages, and I mixed pocket pages with patterned paper pages throughout.
Once I had the cover finished I die cut all of my 25 Christmas Cut Files for 2021 to fit a 7.25 x 9" patterned paper page and backed them all. It took a week to back all 25 cut files - I liken this process to creating my foundation pages like many people do! It was much easier having the cut files slightly larger than in the past, makes backing them go much quicker, but still definitely takes some time and patience.
With the cover and backed cut files on pages, it was time to assemble and start adding photos that I'd been taking throughout the month, plus ribbon, embellishments, details, journaling - all the fun things that made our December merry and memorable!
After opening presents on Christmas morning I picked my favorite photos, printed them out at home, and finished up this here album. Let's take a look through it spread by spread!
Let me know if you have any questions about anything, otherwise, enjoy looking through all of the pics!!
The back cover is a fabric from Rifle Paper Co wrapped around chipboard and stitched.
I hope you have enjoyed looking through my December Daily 2021!
Let me know if you have any questions!
Until next year - merry Christmas and happy New Year!!
