Altenew July 2018 Stencil Release Blog Hop + Giveaway!

Thursday, July 5, 2018

Welcome to the Altenew July 2018 Stencil Release Blog Hop + Giveaway!
To create this layout I made four colorful quadrants and started with Stencils & white modeling paste. On the top left corner I used the Molded Lines Stencil, on the top right corner the Spring Garden Stencil, on the bottom left corner the Flowing Drops Stencil, and on the bottom right corner the Feeling Dotty Stencil.
Once the modeling paste dried I brought in sprays and watercolors. On the top left I used Ruby Red, Coral Berry, and Frosty Pink sprays. On the top right I used Caramel Toffee and Warm Sunshine sprays. On the bottom left I used Sea Glass, Ocean Waves, and Dusk sprays. And on the bottom right I used Soft Lilac and Lavender Fields sprays. I also mixed in Pure White spray and white acrylic paint and added lots and lots of layers of those sprays plus darker and lighter watercolors. It was fun to get messy! You can't go wrong with monochromatic colors!
While the mixed media was drying I started fussy cutting flowers and leaves from papers in the Our Family collection by Altenew. I picked out pink, yellow, blue, and purple flowers and leaves to match the four quadrants of paint. I also found some coordinating die cuts and painted two pieces of wood veneer in matching colors.
I found two photos and layered them on the top left and bottom right sections and glued everything down with foam squares and liquid glue. To add another layer of interest I die cut a few Leafy Garlands from patterned papers and tucked them under the photos and fussy cut flowers/leaves.
For the journaling I tore a piece of a yellow patterned paper and wrote on it to add to the yellow section. I sprinkled a few enamel dots around the page for a bit of texture and shine.
For the final step I machine stitched lines between the quadrants using white thread. I hope you are inspired to check out the amazing Altenew StampsMetal DiesInksSpraysEmbossing PowdersArtist MarkersStencilsScrapbook Collections and more!

  112. When you make a layout like this, do you put it on display alone, in a scrapbook with unrelated pages...? I'm not new to scrapbooking, however I have never made many 12x12 pages because I was not sure about putting them in an album where the pictures had nothing to do with each other-so I always make mini albums. Thanks if you respond!!!!
