Silly Selfies Layout

Sunday, September 30, 2018

Here is one of the layouts I was going to teach at Crop & Create in Cornwall yesterday, but life had other plans for me. Anyway, it's called Silly Selfies and it uses only a few things from my Pick-Me-Up collection!
I started with the light pink ledger B-side of Paper 20 as the background. Then I cut apart all of the individual squares of patterns from Paper 10 and cut those squares in half to make triangles. I arranged the triangles into rainbow order. I made a mark with a pencil in the middle of the background, 6 inches in and 6 inches down and then starting in the middle, placed the triangles into nine squares made up of four triangles each, using similar colored papers for each square (all the purple papers for one square, red papers for another square, yellow for another, etc). I distressed the edges of each triangle and then adhered them in place using dimensional adhesive, trying not to place them too perfectly so you can tell the triangles are individual pieces and give the layout a handmade look.
Next I attached a 2.5" square photo on the top left, middle right, and bottom middle sections using dimensional adhesive. From Paper 19 with all the frames, I fussy cut nine frames in colors that match the patterned papers to create the tone-on-tone look. I also fussy cut nine colorful hearts that match the colors of the patterned papers from the barcode strip trimmed off of Paper 01. Next I embellished every section with lots of fussy cut images and the Rub-Ons from Pick-Me-Up.
For the title I used the white Mini Foam Thickers and wrote journaling between the lines. I tore and bent a section on all four edges, stapled the edges in place, and backed the torn edges with patterned papers for pops of color and interest. Done and done!

  3. I had the chance to make this layout in Cornwall last weekend. I loooove it! So sad you couldn’t be with us, but I understand completely. Hopefully, we’ll have a chance to meet you at another event in the near future.
