The One with FHE

It's been a long time since I've had Family Home Evening (FHE) with my own familia. Tonight we played a wild game of LIFE Twist and Turns (it's an up-to-date version of LIFE with fake credit cards and a battery-powered machine thing spinner and stuff - way cool), then we played a round of Cranium WOW. I laugh so hard I cry every time. The teams were Malm, Dald and Allie versus Chris and Paige. Chris and Paige lost. Oh well. I tried to take a picture of the fun.

The One with Valentine's Day 2009

Not too shabby of a day! When my family is in town it feels like I'm on vacation. I actually felt like a tourist in my own city today with how many pictures I took.

While my mom and dad slept, Allie, Chris and I went to Target to peruse and on the way we saw this funny piece of "art." Dwight Schrute graffitied on this power box, or whatever it is. Too funny.Here's my Dald after driving overnight and popping way too many stay-awake pills... He looks angry, but he really wasn't!
We went to Cafe Rio for lunch. Mmmmmm. Why was my family scattered all over the parking lot?Then we went and saw Twilight at the dollar theater. I saw Twilight the first time with Allie so of course we had to take another picture of the happy moment.

If you've seen the movie, did you notice the part where Bella drops her apple and Edward smoothly catches it in his hands? It's totally the image on the cover of the Twilight book. Creative.

It was a blizzard outside after the movie - hence our not so happy expression. Actually we were trying not to laugh.
Back at home I checked the mail and lo and behold, guess what we got? Talk about Twilight overload!

I don't know where to fit this picture into my post, so here it is. Just a pic of me petting the family dog - Sneakers. He's a Shetland Sheepdog- or Sheltie for short. He's deaf, he chews his paws until they're bloody, but who can resist this sweet face?
Then Allie and I went to a really neat vintage shop on University Ave called Coal Umbrella. I'd never heard of it. Who knew there was such a place just a few blocks away?
I swear, Allie looks good in anything she tries on.
A few stores down is Modbe. I'd never been there before either. I gotta get out more. They have a really neat display of paper clips strung together and hanging from nails. So easy. So simple. So cool.

It finally stopped snowing and the sun decided to grace us with its presence.

We met both sets of grandparents and my parents at Carrabas for dinner. My margherita pizza was delicious. And that was my super fun Saturday!

The One with Yes, But Can Your iPhone Do THIS?

"The Girls" at work have a long-going debate about which phone is better - the iPhone or the G1 by Google. I'm partially (okay, lotsly) biased, but hey, got support my Pops. Speaking of my Pops, my family is currently driving to Utah all the way from Washington. And I can track exactly where they are on my phone using the Latitude application. Beat that iPhone! :) I really don't have anything against the iPhone, I like Apple. The iPod is the coolest invention EVER.

Speaking of cool inventions, I'm pretty sure we're gonna get another couple hooked on LOST - another one of man's great inventions. Chelsie and Joseph stopped by tonight to borrow a movie, but we had other plans for them. We gave them a recommendation - a.k.a. - shoved LOST into their hands. I'll be darned if they don't become fans.

Speaking of fans, I'm my husband's #1 fan. He gave me the best Valentine's Day present today. You see, since my family is driving overnight, they'll be here early in the morning, which is when I usually clean house. Since I want to spend as much time with my family as possible, I was going to spend tonight night cleaning. Pretty fun Friday night activity eh? You can probably see where I'm going with this. I came home after work to a spotless, cages cleaned, vacuumed and smelly good house. Wow. He sure knows how to make me happy :) And how much did it cost? Not one cent. That's the best kind of present.

Speaking of presents...nevermind, I can't tie this one with my next thought. But, today was Friday the 13th. I have Triskaidekaphobia so I'm just glad nothing too tragic happened. There's another Friday the 13th in March. So until then...

Apparently something important was going on next door at the Sinclair gas station during lunch. Something to do with gas. Obviously. I saw good ol' Govnah Huntsman himself from my second-story view. The One with the Wednesday Night Ritual

Every Wednesday night for the last three weeks Nate'n'Annie (I just love saying that over and over and over!) have come to our humble abode to watch LOST. It's become a fun tradition so I had to take a picture to always remember it. LOST is soooooo good. Once you start watching, you can't stop. I dare you to rent season 1 if you aren't already hooked. Five bucks says you become addicted.

The One with He's Just Not That Into You

We saw He's Just Not That Into You this weekend. I'm not sure which picture is the official movie poster so I'm showing both:I thought it was really funny - lots of laugh out loud moments. There was one particularly awkward scene that I'm very glad my parents weren't sitting next to me for. Other than that, I hope it gets the message across to girls that sometimes, he's just not that into you. Haha. Good one. Overall, I'd give it an 8.2/10

The One with Black Light Tattoos

As I was catching up on blogs, this post from Boing Boing particularly caught my eye. Black light tattoos use a UV-reactive tattoo ink that can be seen under a black light but are invisible or only partially visible in normal light. This skeletal tattoo is crazy!

The One with Diem Chau

On the Artist A Day website I found out about the artist Diem Chau. I love when everyday items are turned into unexpected works of art - such as crayons carved into people or fun designs. Who woulda thunk it?
A Vietnam native, Diem Chau and her family came to America as refugees in 1986. Chau is a BFA graduate from Cornish College of the Arts and has received an Artist Trust GAP Grant and a PONCHO Artist-in-Residence Award. Her work has been exhibited in New York, Miami, Seattle and Los Angeles. Chau combines common mediums and common means to create delicate vignettes of fleeting memory, gesture and form, resulting in works that combine egalitarian sensibility and minimalist restraint. Her work touches on the value of storytelling, myths and its ability to connect us to each other through cultural and humanistic similarities. Chau’s current work drifts into new territory by exploring the periphery of the narrative, moments forgotten and faded, or too brief to retain.
