The One with the Wedding On-Site Scrapbooking

I've scrapbooked on-site with Amy Tan at bat mitzvahs, bar mitzvahs, birthdays, and end-of-season soccer celebrations, but Saturday night was the first time I helped at a wedding! Verdict: just as much fun as the other events, but twice as loud and interesting due to intoxicated guests! The wedding was far, far away in Camarillo and the drive was beautiful. One of my favorite views is on the 134 by Burbank seeing LA from the backside of the mountains:

My only question is, who was the guy who decided to build a freeway that points directly to the sun? Oh well, at least it's pretty :)

I arrived a few minutes before it was time to begin so I took some outdoor pictures of the location.

The One with Tiny Prints

The One with the Hey Foxy Card

The challenge I thought of for the Create: blog last week was to create an animal-shaped card. With a son named Fox, how could I not make a fox-shaped card? It's a girly card, but hey, it's still a fox!

Supplies: Cardstock, adhesive: American Crafts; Patterned paper: Scenic Route Paper Co.; Toothpick flag, leaf stickpin: Pebbles; Tinsel topped dowel, jewel chain: Pink Paislee; Baker's twine: The Twinery; Personal electronic cutting machine (Cricut), cartridge (Give a Hoot); Scissors: Fiskars; Typewriter: Smith Corona; Other: Hot glue gun

I'm always so amazed by how lengthy my supply lists are! I'm like, really, I used all of that on this tiny thing? Anyways, to make this card, die cut a fox and all the layers from orange, black, and cream cardstock. I totally bought the Give a Hoot cartridge just because it has some foxes on it. Layer the fox pieces together and glue the top of another fox piece to the back to create a card. Knot two pieces of orange baker's twine around the neck and hot glue a jewel chain below. Type "hey foxy" on a piece of cream lined paper, trim it out, then adhere it to a toothpick flag. Hot glue the flag as well as a white leaf stickpin and a tinsel topped wooden dowel behind the legs of the fox. That's all!

The challenge for this week is to create a card with lots of jewels. I love me some bling so we'll see if I can find some spare time to create a card for it!

The One with How to Get Rid of the Blogger Nav-Bar

Getting my blog to look the way I want it to takes a lot (and I mean A LOT!) of googling. HTML is confusing and crazy stuff man! It's still complete jibberish to me, but I find that as long as there's a tutorial I can get 'er done. I've noticed that about 95% of my friends who use Blogger have that seemingly pointless/annoying/ugly (harsh much Paige?) Blogger navigation bar across the very top of their blog. (Sorry Allie, I'm using your blog as an example, but in just a few minutes it'll be A-OK!)

Want to know how to get rid of the nav-bar and make your blog nice and clean? IT'S SO EASY! Here's a step-by-step photo tutorial that will only take a few minutes:

Go to your Blogger Dashboard.

Click on Design.

Click on Edit HTML.

Scroll down your HTML until you find the part that says Blogger Template Style/Name/Designer/Etc, it looks like this (but may be slightly different):

Copy THIS CODE IN BOLD:

#navbar-iframe {

display: none !important;

}

and paste it directly under the dashed line (it's highlighted in blue in this pic):

Here's what it should look like unhighlighted:

To see if it worked, click on PREVIEW.

Close out of the preview and then click on SAVE TEMPLATE.

TA-DA! No more fugly navigation bar! A little HTML know-how goes a long way :)
