LDS Activity Days / Primary Mad Gabs

My new calling at church is an Activity Days leader and we rotate planning the activity - my first turn was on March 9th. I like combining everyone together and I knew I wanted to play some kind of game. I did a Pinterest search and found ideas for LDS Scattergories, Family Feud, Jeopardy, Pictionary, Cranium and.... Mad Gabs! Winner winner chicken dinner. I found a "D&C Scripture Mastery" version and even printed, cut out, and folded them, all ready to go. But the more I thought about it, the more I think they were too advanced for the 8-11 year olds. So... I made my own! These Mad Gabs are perfectly suited for primary aged children for a sure-to-be-hysterical night of straight up fun and takes about 20 minutes to play. Here is just one page of 7 so you can get an idea of some of the phrases:

 It was a success from the feedback I heard from parents!

CLICK HERE to go to dropbox and download the 8 page PDF file I created. The first page has the rules and the other pages have a total of 56 cards. The red cards are the answers, the blue cards next to them are what you say out loud. When you print them be sure to select FIT TO PAGE on 8.5x11 standard printing paper or the edges will get cut off. You can either cut them up and glue the cards together back-to-back, or trim and fold.

1st Day Layout

It's Fancy Free week on the Pink Paislee blog! Here's the layout I made for this super fun week:

1ST DAY by Paige Evans

DESCRIPTION: I tried to include as many elements from Fancy Free as I could - patterned paper, chipboard, buttons, die cuts, journaling cards, transparencies, patterned Thickers, glitter Thickers, puffy stickers, dimensional stickers, and wood veneer!

JOURNALING SAYS: Yay for the first day of school! It was Fox's first day of pre-school, year three, and Jane's first day of first year pre-school. Also known as freedom for mommy :) I'm so glad both of you love school so much! School is cool! Love you kiddos!

HOW TO: Die cut concentric circle rings from 8 Fancy Free patterned papers then stitch them onto a mint cardstock background. Bend up the paper edges for dimension. Layer a photo in the center and create the title them embellish. Journal around one of the circles and drop white paint on the top and bottom edges.

Easter 2016

Our family in front of the Easter Egg Fountain in Grafenwöhr Germany on Easter Sunday, March 27th 2016.

Sure, we're all smiles here, but just moments before I was in tears. Here's the real deal folks, cuz life ain't always sunshine and roses: both kids told me multiple times today that they hate me. Jane has consistently been saying "I'm not your friend!" or "I don't like you!" for weeks now, and she's still a bit too young to really understand what she's saying when she spouts that out, but this was the very first time that Fox straight up said "I hate you." And it hurt! I cried and he hugged me and said sorry and he loves me. But dang! Where did they learn that and how do I make them stop? So anyway, I didn't really take any pictures and moped around the rest of the day :(

Captain Jane

In the Army you take off your hat indoors so last week Jane picked up Chris' hat and tried it on while we were getting lunch together in the food court (thank goodness for Taco Bell!). I think she looks pretty gosh dern cute!

4 Stitched Pages

I've finished my four stitching projects and now they're framed, and up on the wall!


The first stitched project I made was the birds - I originally wanted to turn it into a layout, but just couldn't cover anything up. So then I decided to create 4 stitched pages to round it out and make a bit of home decor. Here is the newest and last stitched page, stitched flowers:

Fox & Jane & Colored Buildings

Goodness knows I LOOOOOVE colors in all their varieties! Paper, boxes, markers, clothes, even (and especially!) buildings! In Europe they go all out with their paint choices and it makes my heart go pitter patter. This is the main street of our town in Grafenwöhr, Germany:

Fox & Jane didn't have school on Monday so I made the executive decision to take them on a photoshoot and run from building to building (a mere few feet away from each other) and snap their photo at each color! Primo scrapbooking material!

Cutest Easter Bunny Layout

Here is the layout I created for Kerri Bradford Studio for March pairing her fabulous cut files with Fancy Free!

CUTEST EASTER BUNNY by Paige Evans

DESCRIPTION: I love the "BLOOM" kit - perfect for spring, Easter, April showers, May flowers, and more! On two separate occasions my kids put on the same pair of bunny ears at the store and asked me to take their picture to send to Grandma - it'd be my pleasure!

HOW TO: I paired my photos with two of the phrases in the Bloom kit - "Easter" and "Bunny". In Silhouette Studio I enlarged the words, tilted them slightly, and used a pen to draw the words onto white cardstock. Then I used a paper piercer to poke a hole every 1/4" all around the words. I painted stripes (using colors from my Fancy Free collection with Pink Paislee) diagonally across the page and then backstitched through the words with white thread. I dropped some watercolors over the dried paint to break up the straight lines and then finished the title with patterned Thickers, a cluster of photos/embellishments at the bottom, along with journaling.
