Start Here #StickerBook Layout

Saturday, November 11, 2017

I'm having so much fun playing with my #StickerBook! Three layouts later and I still have loads of stickers left! 30 pages of stickers is the bee's knees :)
For this layout I peeled off all the phrase bubbles and adhered them onto vellum or white cardstock and fussy cut them out to make them die cuts. On a Turn the Page pink paper background I splattered white acrylic paint and drops of Heidi Swapp Gold color shine. I placed the photo of Jane on her first day of Kindergarten at the bottom right and added all the phrases around.
I created the title on the right side with a "Start Here" phrase that I trimmed from one of the barcode strips and added "kindergarten" letters from the #StickerBook. I also added some heart stickers, more tiny phrase/sentiments, and scalloped border sticker bits around the layout and in the little spaces between phrases.
I used my sewing machine to stitch across the tops of the four scalloped border stickers and then journaled underneath the title. I used foam adhesive to attach almost everything to create dimension. I hope you're inspired to pick up the #StickerBooks and make a whole lotta layouts!

Leaves Layout by Steffi Ried

Friday, November 10, 2017

One quick glance at this layout and I bet you can guess it's by Stefanie Ried! She has such a distinguishable signature style - even if this layout is square instead of her usual A4 size! I LOOOVE the whimsical leaves dancing across the full-sized photo. Absolutely stunning.
In September I went with my daughter to the Baltic Sea. It was a nice and intense time for us. By the sea there was always wind which whirled leaves through the air. This was the idea for this layout. I like this photo of us by the sea. I printed it in 8x8" since I can't print 12x12 on my printer. But that is no problem with the 6x6 paper pads and the cut files!
In the Silhouette Design Store Paige has so many beautiful leaf cut files. I used the Dipped Leaves for this page. I cut out the leaves smaller from Oh My Heart Paper 17.

I cut out more leaves from the Turn the Page 6x6 Paper Pad and Paper 12. There are so many beautiful leaves in the Turn the Page collection.

And on the Turn The Page Layerable Stamp Set there are sweet little leaves. Perfect for my small layout. I stamped the leaves with a white ink pad.

Here is another detail picture from the layout. I hope you like it and thanks for stopping by!

From the full-size photo to the stitching details and everything between, this layout is a beautiful work of art!

Dream Chaser #StickerBook Layout

Thursday, November 9, 2017

Have you seen the new 30 page #StickerBooks available at Hobby Lobby?! Every book includes embellishments, phrases, and icons with hundreds and hundreds of stickers per book! Great for planners, too! Here is the 2nd of 5 layouts made with my #StickerBook. This layout uses alllll the flowers, called Dream Chaser:
To make this layout I picked all the flowers from my #StickerBook, placed them on vellum, then fussy cut them out. I did this so they could become more like die cuts and easily move them around - stickers are so sticky haha! I mean, that's a good thing, but I tend to change my mind a lot so I needed to unstickify them.
Once I cut all the flowers out I arranged them into banners across a Turn the Page paper background then stitched over them. I was able to bend up all the edges since I added that extra step of backing them with vellum and then placed my photo on the left side.
Then I spent some more time backing phrase stickers with vellum, cut them out, and tucked them in and around the page for little bits of happiness and encouragement. Lastly, I journaled on a sticker and dropped white acrylic paint around. I hope you are inspired to check out the #StickerBooks!

First Day of First Grade Layout

Wednesday, November 8, 2017

Here is the last layout from Paige's Pages 14 over at Big Picture Classes! All about 'dem stars :)
For this layout I started by gathering all of the papers with stars from my Turn the Page collection. I fussy cut ALL of them! I ended up only using the ones from the blue background paper, but I know I will use all the colorful stars on a future project. Then, instead of just adhering the stars as is, I got a little crazy and embellished them with hand stitching! This is definitely a skippable step, but I always love adding a little somethin’ extra for a handmade touch!
Watch and see exactly how this page came together in a start-to-finish process video over in the classroom!

Leaves Layout by Flóra Farkas

Tuesday, November 7, 2017

The texture! The colors! The design! Oh my! Flóra Farkas really knocked the ball out of the park with her "leaves" themed page!
Hi ladies! It’s Flóra here sharing my newest layout created with Turn the Page collection. For today's "leaf" theme I thought it was a perfect time to try out Paige’s Dipped Leaves cut file. They instantly caught my eye in Paige's Silhouette cut files, the design is just adorable!
First I cut out the leaves from Paper 22 with my Silhouette Cameo, then I placed a wide paper stripe from the same pattern on white cardstock. I added the leaves on the patterned paper matching the colors. Some of the leaves hang down from the paper to make the pieced pattern more effective.

After I glued the leaves, I filled up the spaces between with Ephemera Die CutsChipboard Stickers, clear stickers from the Sticker Book, and Puffy Stickers using the tone-on-tone technique. I highlighted these elements with foam tape.

In the end I added my photo along with the title which I found on the Chipboard Stickers sheet. I decorated around with gold foiled stickers from the Sticker Book. I am so happy to finally use Paper 22! This paper is quite bold but using only a stripe from it is a great solution and is perfect for doing the tone-on-tone technique!

I hope you find today’s post inspiring! Head over to Paige’s cut files to get the pretty Dipped Leaves and document your seasonal memories!

Another page I want to lift! I never would have thought to only use a strip of the striped paper - I'm "all or nothing" when it comes to backgrounds haha!

Wonderful Day Layout & Process Video

Here is another one of the layouts we made at She Loves Color 2017 and Crop & Create Thunder Bay!
First, a short & sweet process video to watch and see how this layout came to be!
I LOVE using quilts for inspiration - the fabric pieces translate so perfectly into patterned paper pieces, and the more patterned papers I can use on a layout, the better I always say!
Everything is from my Turn the Page collection with Pink Paislee - from the papers and stamps, to sequins and embellishments - you'll find everything you need in this line! Hope you are inspired to give this layout a try - it's easy to replicate and stands out with all the bright and colorful colors!

Flower Crowns #StickerBook Layout

Sunday, November 5, 2017

Hi friends! I'm sharing a page with you today featuring a few different things: my Fall Wreath cut fileTurn the Page Wood Veneer, and the first of 5 layouts made with my brand new #StickerBook available at Hobby Lobby!
To begin I die cut my Fall Wreath cut file from white cardstock and while it was still on the mat I watercolored over it trying to mix and match colors that went with Turn the Page. I adhered the wreath onto a white textured cardstock background then placed Wood Veneer pieces all around.
I added the photo of me and Jane in our flower crowns at the bottom of the wreath and made a title above using alphabets from the #StickerBook. I used my sewing machine to stitch through each row of words then added a scalloped border sticker below. For the journaling I typed, printed, and trimmed it out and placed the strips at the bottom of the picture.
Then came more stickers! I placed them on vellum first, cut them out, then used them like die cuts so I could move them around until I was sure of their placement. I hope you are inspired to pick up the #StickerBooks from Hobby Lobby! I've made FIVE layouts with them and still have pages and pages and pages of stickers leftover!
Here is a process video so you can see how this layout was made from start-to-finish:

Everyday Moments Layout

Saturday, November 4, 2017

Today I'm sharing another layout I taught how to make at Crop & Create in Thunder Bay featuring a whooooole bunch of fussy cut stars!
Begin with Paper 19 B-side as the background and splatter it with white acrylic paint as well as teal, gray, and navy watercolors diagonally from the top left to bottom right corner; set the paper aside to dry. Spend some time fussy cutting as many or as little (I used almost every single one) of the stars from Paper 11. Adhere the stars diagonally over the paint using foam adhesive to attach them for dimension. Start with the biggest stars first and then fill in the gaps with the medium and small stars. In the gaps, stamp dashed stars with black ink from the Layerable Stamp Set. Adhere a 3x4” photo on the upper left side.
Tuck a mint Ephemera Die Cut tag under the right side of the photo and place a “good job” tab sticker from the Sticker Book above. Place “Everyday” and “moments” Ephemera die cuts overlapping the left side of the photo then write journaling with a black pen below. I like to draw the journaling lines with a pencil first and then go over it with pen. Place mini navy alphabet stickers from the Sticker Book below the journaling for a sub title along with a blue transparency heart sticker also from the Sticker Book. Embellish the title with a snail Puffy Sticker, gold star Chipboard Sticker, and mint arrow Chipboard Sticker. Embellish some of the fussy cut stars with button stickers and a “winner” sticker from the Sticker Book, a Chipboard Sticker paper airplane, and tiny Chipboard Sticker stars. Finish with tiny star stickers from the Sticker Book scattered throughout the stars.

5 Photos Layout by Missy Whidden

Friday, November 3, 2017

Okay Missy Whidden. You rock. That's all I have to say. The way she included five photos on this layout is... MAGICAL! And that large title! The colors! The patterns! All of it. Every time.

Hi friends! Missy here, and this week we are featuring five photos on a layout. I printed mine pretty small and worked them into a large title design. I used the Good Vibes Only cut file from Paige’s Silhouette collection and tucked the photos under some of the letters. I used a combination of Turn the Page and Oh My Heart collections for this. To create the big cut file, I used Oh My Heart Paper 09 and Paper 18 and Turn the Page Paper 10. I loved the color mix of pink, coral, and black. I cut the file three times and paper pieced it together. I kept the pink one whole and let it peek through the other papers to create a little shadow effect. To jazz up the white background, I used coordinating colors of watercolors, ink sprays, and texture pastes using the packaging technique, a palette knife, and some splattering. I tucked my five photos inside some of the letters and embellished around them.

I wanted the letters to have some dimension, so I only added a little bit of glue here and there. You can see here how they curl up off the page in lots of places. I love how the photos look hiding in between the letters, but you can still read the words. I used a lot of the rose gold elements in the two collections. Here I used a sticker from the Oh My Heart Sticker Book and one of the Oh My Heart Charms. I added a bit of cord to finish it off. That mint arrow is from the Turn the Page Chipboard Stickers. I also used the word “laugh” from the Oh My Heart Chipboard Stickers.

I went through the Oh My Heart Ephemera Die Cuts and found these two floral elements that matched perfectly. The butterfly is from the Turn the Page Chipboard Stickers. It’s so cool how these two collections work so well together. I also added in even more fun texture with coordinating colors of tangled thread.

Here is another photo of the awesome dimension.  I did more mixing and matching here with more Oh My Heart Sticker Book stickers and Oh My Heart Ephemera Die Cuts coupled up with Turn the Page Puffy StickersChipboard Stickers, and Pennant Paper Clips.

I hope this gives you some fun ideas to try! It’s fun to limit your color palette like this. I only used three main colors so it forced me to go through all the embellishments and choose pieces that matched them. It takes out some of the guesswork and helps the layout come together a bit quicker. Using a large title does the same thing. Give it a try next time!  Thanks for stopping by!

It's always SO FUN for me to see how people use cut files in ways I never would have imagined! And here is proof that layouts can have more than one photo and still look AWESOME!

Flower Power Layout

Thursday, November 2, 2017

Hello hello! Today I'm sharing another layout I taught how to make at Crop & Create in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada! You can never go wrong with a wreath design!
On a white textured cardstock background, I used my Silhouette Cameo to draw a circle with a pencil then splashed watercolors in colors that coordinate with Turn the Page over and around the circle then set it aside to dry. Next I fussy cut some flowers from Paper 02 and groups of flowers from Paper 15
What I’ve found with layouts like this is it doesn’t need to mirror my design exactly – as long as you place flowers in a wreath, it will look beautiful! That said, I will explain my rhyme and reason behind why and where I placed flowers: temporarily adhere the photo in place on the left side then place the large fussy cut flowers from Paper 02 around the circle – don’t add adhesive to them yet. Next place ALL the flowers from the Ephemera Die Cuts around the circle, leaving room for a title above the photo and journaling below.
After the flower die cuts, place the smaller fussy cut flowers from Paper 15. I like to adhere them in groups of like flowers, about 3, 4, or 5 of them in a bunch together. Next, add flowers from the Chipboard Stickers. Move things around as you see fit, then start to adhere everything in place varying between thicknesses of adhesive for lots of dimension and texture. Take a picture of your layout with your camera or phone to refer back to as you’re adhering things in place. Then add the Puffy Sticker flowers, transparency sticker flowers from the Sticker Book, and any other small fussy cut flowers. Under some of the tiny Puffy Sticker flowers, glue pairs of leaf Sequins. The wreath is complete!
Under the photo add the floral polaroid frame from the Ephemera pack. Cut the navy floral Ephemera die cut in half and tuck the halves under the photo. Place floral alphabet stickers from the Sticker Book above the photo to make the title. Write journaling below the photo using a black pen. To finish, trim a piece of the barcode strip from Paper 15 and tuck it below the journaling. Hope you make a layout like this too and see how fast & easy it is!

5 Photos Layout by Steffi Ried

HAPPY NOVEMBER! I can't even believe 2017 is almost over! Feels like yesterday that it was January... anyway :) I'm looking forward to this holiday season! Onto the layout: it's trendy in scrapbooking to just use a single photo. I for one am 100% guilty of it! But I'm not even gonna say guilty, scrapbooking is art and to each their own! For me scrapbooking is about the process, the actual cutting and gluing and piecing something together. 99% of the time my photo is one of the last things to go on my page. And that's OKAY!! But this week I'm asking the two designers sharing projects to feature five photos so you can see it can be done! First up is this epic page by Stefanie Ried.
Hello and welcome to a new layout! When I saw the challenge was to use five pictures, I immediately thought about my daughter. She is 5 years old. Perfect for pictures from the past 5 years of her life. So I first picked out the photos and printed them in black and white - that way the photos stand out more.

I arranged the pictures in a row, like a little time series. I was quite surprised how my little daughter changes from year to year. She's growing up so fast!

I had the idea to hang embellishments on yarn for each photo and a number for how old she is in each photo, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.

The stickers and the die cuts are from the different Paige Evans collections and are so beautiful and make it very easy to decorate. I like the many beautiful motifs, such as the tricycle from the Sticker Book from the Turn The Page collection.

To get a little bit more color on the layout, I stuck various stickers, sequins, and die cuts at the top. This makes the layout seem more harmonious. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have as much fun creating a layout with multiple photos as I did!
