Stitching Cut File 28 of 36: Honeycomb

Design Team Member Valerie Bisson created this super sweet page! She says, "I started with white cardstock then added pink and gold paint splatters. Next I chain stitched the Honeycomb with DMC thread 4501. I used a 2” hexagon punch to punch out my photos and all the patterned paper pieces from Garden Shoppe. Once I had the hexagons and my photos arranged the way I liked I embellished all the hexagons that didn’t have a photo. For this I used several of Paige’s cut files including several Layered Flowers and Layered Butterflies. To the layered flowers I added hand stitched French knots in all the centers and for the butterflies I added antennae. A few more embellishments were added from the Splendid 8-Page Sticker Book and the Epoxy Stickers. On the middle hexagon I placed a title using the Garden Shoppe Thickers and the Splendid Thickers. Lastly, to frame out my page I added a patterned paper from the Splendid 6x8 Paper Pad to all four corners!"

Stitching Cut File 27 of 36: Adventure

Design Team Member Jackie Ashton created this adventure-filled page! She says, "I cut the Adventure from white cardstock and chose thread that matched Blooming Wild. After stitching the design, I cut the page down into in banner shape and added a border of Paper 17 underneath. Then I added these two banners to the right side of Paper 14. I wanted the stitched title to be the main focus so I printed my photographs small and added them around my page. I kept the embellishments to a minimum and added some cut labels from Paper 13, floral stickers from the Cardstock Stickers, and Mini Flower Puffy Stickers. I also added a die cut globe from the Ephemera Die Cuts as well as various stickers from the Sticker Book. To finish the title I used the wonderful Thickers which I added over the top of my stitching. Thanks so much for stopping by!"

Design Team Member Jennifer Rambert created this absolutely stunning page! She says, "I started by hand stitching with DMC 4502 thread to bring shades of color that go very well with the Splendid collection. Once finished, I cut out around the pattern and then glued it to the center of the floral wreath Paper 7, leaving flowers sticking out all around from underneath. I glued the photo on the left so I wouldn't cover very much of the stitching then I fussy cut several flowers out of Paper 1 to decorate. I decorated with Chipboard Stickers, butterflies, as well as Thickers to add my title. I wish you a beautiful creative day!"

I used a simple backstitch on white cardstock then trimmed around it to mount it on this sweet green floral background. I embellished with fussy cut pieces from the flower mandala paper and finished it off with some Ephemera Die Cuts, enamel dots, and Mini Foam Thickers from Paige's Whimsical collection. I thought the colors in this collection worked well with my bright picture! I really enjoyed making this colorful layout!"

Blooming Wild Coptic Book by Paige Evans

With every scrapbook collection I create a matching coptic book and here is the Blooming Wild edition! I do have a virtual class teaching how to make coptic books HERE.
I love making these handmade coptic books mostly to look pretty on my shelf, let's be honest :)
You can use them as diaries, "smash books" or art journals, daily gratitude lists, wedding sign-in books, mother-to-be baby shower books, as a scrapbook, making goals & checklists, tracking accomplishments, for instax photos, book reviews, and so much more! I made my December Daily 2017 in one and I think it's one of my most favorite December Daily albums to date.
I love to try new techniques with the covers - I've painted them, stamped them, covered them with embellishments, and even left them plain. Blooming Wild is filled with flowers so for this book I had the idea of making dozens of 1.75" rolled paper flowers and using them to cover the covers! During our 5 hour drive to Santa Fe for Spring Break I rolled and rolled and rolled little flowers. I love working on projects during road trips!
My favorite part is the exposed binding and tying on charms, beads, stickers, tassels, buttons, sequins, and more as I'm sewing.
In addition to the Flower Charms in Blooming Wild I also made my own charms with back-to-back stickers from the Sticker Book, hearts from the Puffy Phrase Stickers, buttons and flowers from the Cardstock Stickers, and Mini Flower Puffy Stickers.
On the front cover I added a floral "HELLO THERE" Cardstock Sticker and then hot glued all the flowers around it.
I drilled 7 holes in the plywood covers that my dad and I cut together, sanded them, and then painted them a light blush pink.
I chose 18 floral Blooming Wild papers to make the signatures (groups of paper) and cut two of each to stack together so they're pretty from the outside and inside. Rainbow order and flowers galore!
This book is 4x6" which is perfect for full-sized photos and smaller memorabilia.
It lays flat when opened which makes it easy to write & create art inside.
There's nothing quite like the feeling of making a cute book completely from scratch! Once you make one, you'll want to make more!

Stitching Cut File 25 of 36: Sunglasses

Design Team Member Lisa Fonseca created this cute page! She says, "Obviously I had to use the new Blooming Wild collection which I just received in the mail! I love it!!! Especially the new, big Chipboard Alphabet Outlines! After stitching the cut file, I cut out the parts that are meant to see through and adhered it to the layout. I love that it creates those shadows on the layout. I used the Chipboard Alphabet Outlines for the title and also fussy cut some letters from one of the patterned papers for my title. I then used a loooot of flowers from the Floral Die Cuts. It totally makes me excited for summer!"

She says, "As soon as I saw those heart sunglasses I knew I had to use the matching photo of me wearing them while I was river tubing. I stitched a black outline to make the glasses pop against the white cardstock. The 24th of the 36 Cut Files for Stitching is a Sunburst!
Design Team Member Noelle Culp created this eye-catching page! She says, "For this layout, I used the little orange rainbows Paper 11 from Splendid (because seriously, it's one of my favs!) and stitched around it. In between the rays I added more embroidery floss with sequins strung onto it - I left them loose so they actually still move around. Framing my photo (which was a silly family pose we did together) I made flowers out of papers from Garden Shoppe using Paige's Layered Flower Cut File. Lastly, I added a sentiment Epoxy Sticker and a phrase using the gold Thickers, both from Splendid."

She says, "When I saw this Sunburst I knew immediately that I wanted to use photos of a gorgeous sunset we saw on a recent trip to the Maldives. I love using the chain stitch to add depth and dimension to a page. I changed the color of embroidery floss in each ray of the sunburst to match the pinks, oranges, and yellows of the sunset. I used foam adhesive to elevate the patterned paper inset into each arm of the sunburst, which created a wonderful platform for the large title!"

Stitching Cut File 22 of 36: 9 Hearts

Design Team Member Phil Donahue created this cuteness-overloaded page! He says, "For this layout I featured a series of photos of my niece walking around her neighborhood holding some rocks (why do infants love rocks?) and exuding a fierce attitude! This page also features elements from Splendid, Garden Shoppe and Paige's newest collection, Blooming Wild! I chose Paper 13 from Garden Shoppe to cut the file. The wonky hearts and rebellious nature of the photos invited more of an unconventional threading technique. Plus, being new to stitching, I felt it was a great way to practice different stitching methods so I decided to use three different types and used light pink, fuchsia, and black thread. Next I wanted to add mixed media to the page so I used a tiny hearts stencil and Black Soot Distress Oxides in areas which would later become under my photos and embellishments. I also splattered black and pink inks from the top left to bottom right corner of the page to add even more interest to the background. After stitching, stenciling, and splattering, my background was ready! I sought out pink patterned papers from Paige's collections and a black & white polka dot paper from my stash to create anchors for the photos and areas of embellishments. I cut papers into rectangles of various dimensions and placed a large cluster in the bottom right of the page to make a shelf for the photos and the top left for embellishments/journaling which balanced out the layout. This created a perfect spot in the middle of the page for a title. Finishing touches were chipboard hearts & rhinestone dots!"

Design Team Member Noelle Culp created this lovely page! She says, "For this stitching file I really wanted to use the bright floral Paper 17 from the Splendid collection. I cut the paper out into triangles and then stitched around them with pink embroidery thread. I chose my photo, backed it with pink papers from the collection, and then added Floral Die Cuts around it. The title is a small phrase from the Epoxy Stickers."

Here is another layout made with today's Heart Quilt from the 36 Cut Files for Stitching by Guest Designer Malou Wagner! She says, "To design this layout I decided to go ahead with the color theme of the photo, so I stitched the Heart Quilt with different shades of pink and red. I did some mixed media on the background and then in order to create some dimension, I cut out around the finished heart quilt and glued it in place. I added Floral Die Cuts from the Garden Shoppe collection to add further dimension and enhance the flowers in the photos. Inside the heart I used a few triangles of Floral Transparency. I stamped some flowers onoto white cardstock using the Acrylic Stamps and colored them with watercolors. I fussy cut them and glued some in different spots. For the title I used the Thickers and the mini letter stickers from the 8-Page Sticker Book. I finished the layout with a few Enamel Button Stickers here and there!"

These are definite memories to document and look back on and I knew I wanted to use the beautiful Garden Shoppe collection. The Heart Quilt was absolutely perfect. I used Paper 6 and Paper 8 for the background and I then cut Paper 22 into triangles to fit into the sections in the heart. I backstitched with matching colored thread. My heart was layered with foam pads to give depth. To embellish I used Floral Die Cuts and some words from Paper 23!"
