Garden Shoppe Coptic Book & Kits

With every scrapbook collection I create a matching coptic book along with bookbinding kits and here is the Garden Shoppe edition!

I love making these handmade coptic books and giving them away as gifts and to look pretty on my shelf :) You can use them as diaries, "smash books" or art journals, daily gratitude journals, wedding sign-in books, mother-to-be baby shower books, as a scrapbook, making lists, for instax photos, book reviews, and so much more! I made my December Daily 2017 in one and I think it's my most favorite December Daily to date.

I love to try new techniques with the covers. For this one I had an idea to use the Acrylic Stamps from Garden Shoppe! I documented the process in my Instagram Stories:
To make the covers, I used black StazOn Ink and the flowers and leaves from the Acrylic Stamps. The stamps aren't included in the kits though so if you want to make the exact same covers you can purchase them separately from scrapbook.com and then be sure to prep the stamps first by rubbing them with an eraser. Then I figured out basic placement of the stamps on plain 4x6" wooden covers, inked up the stamps, and stamped away! Once I finished stamping, I grabbed the Pastel Dreams and Tropicals watercolors sets by Prima and painted in all the images. Ta-da!
My favorite part is the exposed binding and tying on charms, beads, stickers, tassels, buttons, sequins, and more as I'm sewing.
Since there aren't really any designated charms in Garden Shoppe I made my own: I placed Enamel Button Stickers back-to-back and punched a tiny hole through them to turn them into charms. I placed paper and transparency stickers from the 8-Page Sticker Book back-to-back and punched a tiny hole through them to turn them into charms. I used three buttons from the Ephemera Die Cuts and then added a couple tassels from my craft stash.

I drilled 9 holes in the covers (the kits come with boards that have 5 holes or you can purchase plain 4x6" wooden covers and drill your own holes.

This book is 4x6" which is perfect for full-sized photos and smaller memorabilia.
It lays flat when opened which makes it easy to write & "art" in.
There's nothing quite like the feeling of making a cute book completely from scratch!
Once you make one, you'll want to make more and more!
If you purchase the bookbinding kit it comes with a virtual class that shows you from start-to-finish how to make a coptic book or you can purchase the class separately HERE.
