Home Sweet Home Layout

Sunday, March 31, 2019

Today I'm sharing a layout which you can find in the Spring 2019 issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine!
I started by die cutting my Home Sweet Home cut file from white cardstock using a Silhouette Cameo 3. I backed both "O"s with small photos of Chris carrying me over the threshold of our very first home :) I backed the remaining letters with designs from Paper 19 from Whimsical. This is one of my favorite ways to use these papers with all the different sections of patterns and colors. I used foam squares to attach the title onto the B-side of Paper 01. I kept the embellishing minimal and added a row of Floral Die Cuts & Leaves above and below the title. I typed, printed, trimmed, and adhered journaling strips next to the photos and I used the font Remington Noiseless. That's it! Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

Disneyland Layout

Saturday, March 30, 2019

Here is another layout I've made using Horizon! It's called Disneyland and features the 2x2 Paper Pads.
I started with Paper 15 for my background which has a rainbow of "+"s across it. I splashed white acrylic paint on top for another layer of interest and tore the top left and bottom right edges for texture. I backed those torn spots with the rainbow striped paper from the 6x8 Paper Pad.
Next I used my sewing machine to stitch a 4x4 grid with white thread on the background. Inside each section I placed one of the patterned papers from the 2x2 Paper Pads. I heavily distressed the paper edges again for texture.
Then came embellishing and photos! I added six small photos and then used bits and pieces from the StickersChipboard StickersEpoxy StickersEphemera Die CutsWashi TapeShaped Paper Clips, and Charms. I varied the type and depth of adhesive I used when adding all these embellishments for dimension. To finish I wrote journaling at the bottom of one of the squares.
When in doubt, grid layouts are the way to go! Each section is a little work of art and comes together quickly and easily when broken down into segments. Be sure to check out my new Horizon collection and thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday Layout

Friday, March 29, 2019

I have a new layout to share for the birthday celebrations happening over at the Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine Blog featuring my Banner cut file and Whimsical collection!
First, a process video so you can see how this layout came together:

I started by die cutting my Banner cut file from smooth white cardstock using a Silhouette Cameo 3. Then I used the rainbow striped Paper 16 to back all the bitty pieces - I didn't measure each piece, I just eyeballed the size and it probably took about an hour to back the entire design. Not too bad! I backed the larger spaces of the banner with the B-side of Paper 01.
I splashed watered down white acrylic paint across the B-side of Paper 08 to jazz up my background, let it dry, and then tucked this sweet photo of Jane under the right side of the banner. I used dimensional adhesive to attach the banner in place for depth and to create shadows.
Next I came in with a new package of Floral Die Cuts and tucked a bunch of them under the banner. I think that's my 12th set of flowers I've used haha - what can I say, they make the perfect finishing touch and help layouts come together so quickly! I created the title on the banner using the colorful Foam Mini Thickers and placed a heart Chipboard Sticker between the words.
To embellish I added a Puffy Sticker banner below the title and placed a dragonfly Chipboard Sticker overlapping the edge of the photo. Then I sprinkled the tiny round Enamel Shapes here and there for even more pops of color. I finished by writing my journaling in another section of the banner.
Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out this new layout! Be sure to stop by the Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine Blog to see all of their birthday celebration festivities!

Happiness Is... Layout by Donna Espiritu

Thursday, March 28, 2019

Hello, lovely friends! Donna Espiritu here with my latest layout for the Paige Evans + Silhouette Design Team. I used the new Horizon collection and Flower cut file.
I thought of changing things up a bit by not using the cut file as is. After backing the cut file with Paper 02 I adhered it to the top left corner of the white cardstock background and trimmed the excess. Then I adhered the remaining parts to the bottom and right edges. I used foam tape to make the leaves appear lifted. I cut 1/2" strips of Paper 02 and added them to the edges. I did something for the first time: chain stitching! It's a bit sloppy but I will get the hang of it for sure because it's not as difficult as I thought it would be! Then I used one of the Washi Tapes as an accent.

To continue with the playful and happy vibe, I did a wavy title. Using a pencil, I lightly drew a wavy path for the Foam Mini Thickers from Whimsical and then adjusted the placement of each letter. I did some Acrylic Stamps as well. I chose inks which coordinated with the Horizon color palette and then I used a black pen to make some small dots. Using the same pen, I wrote when and where the photo was taken. And that's it!

I hope you like my layout today! Thank you for dropping by and until next time! Happy crafting!

I Love Adventure Layout by Stefanie Ried

Wednesday, March 27, 2019

Hello and welcome to a layout from me, Stefanie Ried! I am very happy to show you my first layout with the new Horizon collection. It's gorgeous and fits perfectly with Spring and Summer! It is especially suitable for holiday trips, road trips, vacation, and more. I am so excited to use this collection!
I rummaged in my box with vacation photos and found a picture of our trip to Greece. It was a great holiday filled with unforgettable moments on the island of Mykonos. When I looked at the patterned papers, I immediately noticed Paper 04 with the colorful words. The colors shine so beautifully and the words fit perfectly with my photo.

And off I went fussy cutting! While my daughter was learning for school, I cut out the words next to her. I like fussy cutting. It relaxes me a lot.

In the beginning I didn't know how to arrange the words on the layout. But then I remembered a layout I made last year with layered leaves and used that as my idea. I glued the words onto the paper with glue dots and 3D squares so the layout gets some dimension. To finish I added a bit of stamping with the new Acrylic Stamps.

Thank you very much for stopping by and see you next time!

Party Store Adventures Layout

Tuesday, March 26, 2019

Here is another layout called Party Store Adventures I made to showcase my new Horizon collection which debuted at Creativation this past January!
I trimmed of all of the patterned barcode strips from the bottoms of the 24 Horizon patterned papers and then used four different scalloped border punches to make them fancy. I die cut a large heart using my Silhouette Cameo 3 from white cardstock and then, starting at the bottom, layered the scalloped paper strips up the heart. To keep all the paper strips in place permanently I used my Brother sewing machine to stitch around the edges using white thread and then to create lots of texture and dimension I bent up the scalloped strips.
For the background I chose the B-side of Paper 22 and before adding the heart to the left side I splashed a whole bunch of white acrylic paint and Pastel Dreams watercolors over it, letting it dry between each color, or rather, drying it with a hair dryer to speed up the process :)
I added a photo of Jane on the left side of the heart and decorated with a butterfly and moth Chipboard Sticker along with a heart and label Sticker. The title was created with the Thickers and Epoxy Stickers around the curve of the heart and I machine stitched through those as well because Thickers tend to fall off without reinforcement. I added lots of heart Epoxy Stickers on the top right corner and wrote journaling with a white pen below to finish.
Thank you so much for coming to my blog today, I hope you are inspired to use up those barcode strips and check out my new Horizon collection!

This Girl Layout by Jamie Pate

Monday, March 25, 2019

Hey, guys! It’s Jamie Pate. Wow do I love butterflies.
Paige’s Butterfly Background cut file is not new. But I did change it up and crafted it in a new to me way.

As you can watch in the video below, the cut file was sized down and also flipped. I wanted the photo to ‘look’ at the butterflies.

A second background was cut too. This second set was used to add an extra layer of butterflies to the first set. Before I took these sets off the mat, metallic gold paint, Blush Color Shine, and white pearl paint were splattered over the butterflies. I really love the effect of the paint on the pink background of the Whimsical Paper 01.

An additional butterfly was cut and added to the layers of embellishments around the photo.

Watch the process video to see how this all came together:

Try this technique on a scrapbook page, a mini album, or even a card set. The Butterfly Background is ready and waiting for all your spring crafts!

Wanderlust Layout

Sunday, March 24, 2019

Sharing another layout made with my new Horizon collection and Wanderlust cut file!
I started by die cutting my Wanderlust cut file from white cardstock using a Silhouette Cameo 3 and then I backed each letter with a different patterned paper: W - Paper 16 | A - Paper 05 | N - Paper 10 | "-" - Paper 21 | D - B-side Paper 12 | E - B-side Paper 01 | R - Paper 23 | "-" - B-side Paper 24 | L - B-side Paper 06 | U - B-side Paper 08 | S - B-side Paper 15 | T - B-side Paper 04.
I used the colorful striped Paper 19 as my background and adhered the backed Wanderlust cut file to the right side using dimensional adhesive. I tucked a photo under the left side. The photo was taken in Lisbon in front of a pretty tiled wall - the tiles in Lisbon were a huge inspiration for the Horizon collection so I thought it was only fitting to use this photo :)
To embellish, I added Floral Die Cuts here and there and placed three Charms to create a visual triangle. I added one of the charms onto a jump ring and dangled it from an airplane Shaped Paper Clip on the photo. I further embellished with a tiny strip of butterfly Washi Tape above the photo, Chipboard StickersStickers, and Epoxy Stickers as shown. To finish I splashed some light blue Prima - Pastel Dreams watercolors on the top right and bottom left corners.
I hope you like this layout and are feeling inspired to check out the Horizon collection and my cut files!

Love Being with You Layout by by Jana Maiwald-McCarthy

Saturday, March 23, 2019

Hi everyone, Jana Maiwald-McCarthy back again and I have a new layout to share! For this page I used the Cut and Fold Stars Background cut file and the Whimsical collection.
I cut the Cut and Fold Stars Background on a patterned paper from the 12x12 Paper Pad and placed it pattern side down on the aqua ombre Paper 21 from the Take Me Away collection. Now when I open the stars and fold them over, the design is visible! I stitched all of the stars down with my sewing machine. I added a lot of white gesso to the background because I wanted to add mixed media. I grabbed some of my favorite Shimmerz Paints and had fun.

The background was very busy already but I still wanted to add more elements. I fussy cut words from Paper 18, grabbed some Chipboard Stickers and Floral Die Cuts, then started to place everything around the photo. My photo was placed on cut-apart pieces from Paper 01 and I tried to use only green and blue tones. A few clouds and hearts from the Sticker Book were added to the stitched stars. The Tassel Paper Clip and Enamel Shapes were my final touches on this layout. I really love how this one turned out!

Be sure to check out Paige's cut files for ideas and inspirations. I always get ideas and I always find a perfect cut file for my next project! Thanks so much for stopping by and I wish you all a great day!
