Explore Mini Album by Paige Evans (Scalloped Edge Waterfall Virtual Class)

Last weekend I taught a virtual mini album class: Scalloped Edge Waterfall, and it's now available online HERE!

In the virtual class I demonstrate how to create the foundation for this scalloped waterfall mini album using the Sunny Days collection by Maggie Holmes, stitch the edges with a sewing machine, add a bit of mixed media, decorate the cover, create the dangling charms, and start adding layered embellishments.
A PDF with a list of supplies, photo sizes, instructions, templates, and a link to the YouTube video will be emailed within 24 hours of purchasing. A cutting machine is not necessary to create this album, we create it all by hand.
The one word I would use to describe this album would be ECLECTIC. All the colors, textures, patterns, layers, depths, and more, all combine to create a hodgepodge of happiness and memories!
Charms dangling from the looseleaf binder rings connecting the album together finish off the album.
Here are the rest of the spreads from this scalloped edge waterfall mini album - let me know if you have any questions about anything, always happy to answer!
I hope you are inspired to check out my Scalloped Edge Waterfall Virtual Mini Album Class!

She says, "Do you sometimes take photos especially for a specific layout? Well I do and for this one I even went into an abandoned neighbor's backyard and took some pictures under the apple trees. I used Bungalow Lane to back the cut file, added fussy cut flowers, and did some mixed media on the background."

One Fine Day Layout by Missy Whidden

Hey friends! Missy Whidden here with a new layout featuring Paige’s beautiful Bungalow Lane collection. I started with my photo for this page and it has some dark and light blues in it. I chose three patterned papers to layer behind it in a vertical direction. At first I had planned on doing a blue-only layout, but then saw that yellow and orange would be a nice contrast against all the blue. I tore the papers and glued them together. I used smooth white cardstock for the base and I coated the visible parts with clear gesso. I wasn’t sure how much mixed media I was going to add, so I wanted it to be prepped. I used a few orange, yellow, and blue Shimmerz sprays to add the watercolor effect around the photo.

I layered a lot of bits and pieces around the photo including some of the large Floral Die Cuts, a few Chipboard Stickers, some Foam Phrase Stickers, and some sentiments from the 8-Page Sticker Book. I love this large light blue leaf piece and how it helps frame the bottom of the photo. Here behind these embellishments I added some dark blue Shimmerz spray to really make the colors pop. I also smudged a bit of white gesso on the blue leaves to give it a weathered look. I tucked in orange thread and wrote my journaling using a black fine-tip Sharpie.

I decided to use orange as the accent color. I used a sliver of orange patterned paper here under the photo as well as an Ephemera Die Cut and white tissue paper. I also tucked in part of a Chipboard Sticker frame piece. I added a bit more orange here using Shimmerz. I used a few of the small gold foiled hearts from the Cardstock Stickers here as well.

Here on the left side I used a large orange Floral Die Cut and topped the center with a Chipboard Sticker.  I layered in more flowers and leaf stems to help frame the photo. I added a yellow button Embossed Puffy Stickers to the center of the blue flower. I did pop the photo and the large orange flower up off the page with adhesive foam to create depth and shadowing. I finished off this area with dark blue thread and a few more heart stickers.

I hope this gives you some fun ideas to try on your next layout! I had fun tearing these papers and adding in embellishments to match. I haven’t started with my photo in a while so it was great to begin there and find things to match it. Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day!

Fall Leaf Layouts by Audrey Mutschall and Yui Oku

Tuesday, September 28, 2021

The 7th of the 20 Days of Fall / Autumn Cut Files went out to those who purchased them and here are two layouts made by Design Team members Audrey Mutschall and Yui Oku featuring the Fall Leaf cut file

Audrey says, "For this layout I used the Truly Grateful collection. I cut the Leaf out of purple patterned paper then hand stitched around the solid edge in ombre embroidery floss. I added a border at the bottom of the page with squares of patterned paper, and a little strip with patterned paper at the top; both are stitched onto the background. I layered fussy cut flowers and a few sentiments around the photo for embellishments then splashed Lindy's magical shimmer paint onto the background to break up the white space."

Yui says, "For my layout I used my favorite Bungalow Lane collection! I thought the yarn would be a perfect match! I put cute icons on the yarn. Can you see the LOVE letters?"

Simple Things Layout by Paige Evans

Here is a new layout I made with Bungalow Lane and some Nesting Flower Punches!

I began by pulling all of the patterned papers from the 12x12 double-sided papers, 6x8 Paper Pad, and 2x2 Paper Pads that were pink, red, orange, yellow, brown, and kraft - all the warm tones. I ended up with about 26 different papers. Then I grabbed these Nesting Flower Punches and punched all 3 sizes of flowers from all 26 papers. I spent a bit of time creasing all of the petals to give them lifelike dimension.
Time to work on the background! I chose a piece of cream textured cardstock to help bring out the warm tones of the patterned papers. Then I hand cut a loose flower shape from scrap cardstock and placed it in the middle. I traced around the shape with a pencil. I left the template in place to protect that area from paint splatters then splashed watered down gold paint and watered down white acrylic paint all across the background. Once it dried, I removed the template, pierced holes about 1/4" apart, and did a simple backstitch with white floss.
I grabbed all of the flowers and glued them in place like a frame around the stitching, placing them in random order so no two patterns or colors were next to each other and no edges were touching. Once the glue dried I pierced a hole through the center of every flower and made a French knot to attach them in place permanently and add another touch of stitching.
I printed a 4" square photo of Jane and Joey I found in these orange tones, added it inside the stitched area, and then embellished. I tucked a piece of gold wreath Chipboard Sticker under the top edge of the photo along with a yellow butterfly and brown button Epoxy Sticker. I placed "simple things" Foam Phrase Stickers at the top as well for the title.
On the right edge of the photo I clustered a yellow tree Chipboard Sticker topped with a pink tab and "right at home" semi circle sticker both from the 8-Page Sticker Book. I finished that cluster with a pink Bird Paper Clip, kraft "happy" sticker from the 8-Page Sticker Book, and wrote the date with a brown pen on the tab sticker. To finish, I tucked a yellow label sticker under the left edge topped with a kraft "sweet" sticker and wrote journaling with the same brown pen.
I hope you are inspired in some way by this layout, whether it's the color palette, punched flower frame, hand stitching, etc! Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you again soon!

Andrea says, "This was such a fun and versatile cut file to work with. I made a mini album and used the cut file designs as decorative elements to create the base of my pages and to make a shaker page. I also changed the cut file dimensions to match the 3x6" tags from the Bungalow Lane patterned papers. You can create different albums by mixing and matching the design of your pages or you can make beautiful fall-themed gift tags to share with your beloved ones."

Welcome Layout by Stefanie Ried

Tuesday, September 21, 2021

Hello and welcome to a new layout by me, Stefanie Ried! This is my first layout with the beautiful collection Bungalow Lane. The colors and icons immediately made me think warm thoughts and put me in a cozy mood. When it gets cold outside, then you make it cozy in the house. All the beautiful embellishments go with that. When I saw all the papers, I did not know where to start first. But the first layout was going to be something special. It is dedicated to our hamster Chilli. We have had her for a year now and she is totally cute. My daughter loves to feed her and watch her play in the wheel.

I chose the autumnal motifs to match. I cut out a few leaves and used sentiment stickers - these hung on yarn. In between I attached a few cute button Embossed Puffy Stickers. They are one of my favorites from this collection.

At the top, I threaded the end from the yarn through a wooden bead and attached it with Washi Tape in the matching color.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great start to fall!
