The One with Invitations

Two scrappy posts in a row!

Can I just say how much I love the American Crafts Contributing Design Team? So much talent in their little fingers. Check out their latest and greatest creations on the Invitations Gallery. Invitations must be hot right now because Scrapbook Trends just came out with an invitations idea book:
I was commissioned to make some cards for it:Who's ready to have a party now?!

The One with a Newport Beach Layout

Thursday, February 26, 2009

I love being required to scrapbook (at least) once a week.

American Crafts now makes specialty paper - metallics and foils and such - and I'm not gonna lie, I was a bit hesitant at first cuz I thought it would be really tacky................ Then I realized all you need to do is use the right colors. Nichole's challenge this week was to use White, Ash, Robin's Egg and Sunflower. I found some of these colors in the specialty papers and made a layout about our Newport Beach adventures this January.
Supplies:

Sunflower 12 x 12 Cardstock (71038) AC Cardstock
Robin's Egg 12 x 12 Cardstock (71063) AC Cardstock

The One with Mt. Si

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

Saturday morning my dad and sister woke up at 4am (crazy!) to hike to the top of Mt. Si in North Bend, WA to see the sunrise. Let's just say I'm going to do this same hike so I can add these exact pictures to my own collection. So be expecting a very similar post this July! We'll have to wake up at 2:55am because the sun rises much earlier in the summer...

The One with the Haunted House

Monday, February 23, 2009

I was driving down Center Street in Provo the other day when I noticed this house out of the corner of my eye. If this house isn't haunted, I don't know what is. Wouldn't this be awesome to decorate at Halloween?

The One with Our Fridge

Sunday, February 22, 2009

The other day I opened up our fridge and realized just how pathetic we are. What do you see? A big fat bunch of nothing. We've got water bottles cuz I don't like tap water. We've got milk because I have at least one bowl of cereal every single day. We've got a bag of Haribo Gummy Bears (they taste so good when they're cold) cuz I live on candy. We've got some aluminum tins of leftover Cafe Rio, mmmm. We've got a bag of really nasty apples that have been in there for months but for some reason we haven't thrown them away yet. And we've got condiments. Just the essentials for the Evans'!I applaud and admire all of the wonderful women (and men) who make weekly meal plans and stick to them. "Some day" I will be a better wife and cook meals for my husband.

The One with The Taylor Girls

I don't think the three of us have ever been in a picture, just us, before. This is the first time I've ever thought we actually all look alike. Crazy how genes work!

Remember this post about making a Thickers layout? I FINALLY finished it. The challenge at work was to scrapbook about yourself. I used some pictures Nichole took of me in Las Vegas. This is probably the craziest layout I will ever make.

Use leftover Thickers to create a funky background for your next "all about me" layout.

The One with Skiing at Sundance

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

I've been skiing 6 times in my life, including today. I took a half day at work, picked Chris up from school then we rented me some skiis, boots and poles for me. I'm ill-equipped :) My uncle David and cousin Benji crammed into the back of the suburban and we were on our way.It was snowing very hard when we got up to Sundance. But I was nice and toasty in my layers so it didn't bother me much.
Me and Allie all geared up and ready to hit the slopes.
Me and Chris all geared up and ready to hit the slopes.
Chris, Paige and Allie sitting on the lift. Somehow we got on lift #28 two times in a row. Ooohweeeooooh.
These are a few snapshots I took on the lift looking down. Taint much of a view cuz the snow, but a little photoshopping fingerwork adds some interest.
Proof that I was indeed on the top of a mountain.
This is my favorite shot of the day.Allie was the odd one out with her snowboard. Don't get Chris started.... :)All of the cars in the parking lot were buried under snow by the time we were done.I'm proud of myself for not giving up and retiring to the ski lodge. I stuck it out 'til the bitter end and had a great time. For sure I'm gonna feel it my legs tomorrow. Skiing is tough work!

My family is driving back to Seattle tomorrow. It sure was fun having them here!
