Puppy Love Layout by Elsie Robinson

Hey everyone, it’s Elsie Robinson here with another layout using Go the Scenic Route. For this page I was inspired by the quilted design on Paper 8 to create my own quilt-like pattern and frame it using Paige’s fun and cute Paw Print cut file

I firstly started by cutting the Paw Print cut file from white cardstock and then pierced holes around the outline, ready for stitching. I used white embroidery thread with a chain link stitch to add loads of texture and definition. To create the quilt pattern, I went through all of the Go the Scenic Route patterned papers and with a 1" square punch I punched out lots of patterns in each color of the rainbow! I then cut each square in half to create two triangles.

I decided to create a simple chevron pattern, so on a separate piece of paper I glued the triangles of the same color family in a row to create up and down arrows to form the chevron pattern. This is kinda hard to explain, but I hope you can see what I mean from the pictures! Once each row was glued down, I used my sewing machine to add stitching along the center of each chevron line - this gives it a much more authentic quilt-like look! And voila! I love the look of this, it’s a super fun and relaxing pattern to create and a great way to use your scraps.

And finally, I used a black & white photo to contrast nicely with all the color. I used Foam Thickers to spell out my title ‘puppy love’. To decorate I used a combination of floral Chipboard Stickers & Cardstock Stickers and some fussy-cut butterflies to add a whimsical finishing touch.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
