Wonderful, Pretty You Layout by Donna Espiritu

Hello, lovely friends! Donna Espiritu here with a new scrapbook layout for the Paige Evans + Silhouette Design Team. I used Paige's Wonderful Layered cut file in my layout and the Whimsical collection. 

I did something that I've never done before... I hand stitched on my layout! Well, I've done some stitching before, but not on a large cut file like this. It took me almost 8 hours! I salute Paige and everyone who hand stitch all the time! Whew!

So, for my layout, I stitched the cut file with two pink colored embroidery threads before backing it with Paper 04, Paper 07, Paper 09, Paper 12, Paper 18, Paper 22, and Paper 23. Then I used foam tape to mount it on a dark pink paper from the 12x12 Paper Pad. I just used my scissors to cut around the edge. All because matting the cut file on another paper was an afterthought when I realized I wanted to have a contrasting color. Once done, I adhered it in the middle of a white cardstock background splattered on some watercolors.

I placed my black and white converted photo on the topmost part of the layout which I also mounted with foam tape. Then I added clusters of embellishments like Floral Die Cuts, Ephemera Die Cuts, a Tassel Paper Clip, Butterfly Charm, Foam Mini Thickers, and Rub-Ons, creating a visual triangle. This is my go-to design idea most of the time. It is balanced and visually interesting. Then, I scattered some Enamel Shapes for the final touch.

Day Dreamer Layout

I'm going to start sharing layouts with my brand new Horizon collection which is now available at scrapbook.com (just click on any of the links throughout this post to check it out ;)

This layout might look complicated at first but it was actually really simple to make. I started with Paper 03 with the rainbow sunburst design. SWOON.

I trimmed from the outer edge to almost the center of every wedge and then heavily distressed all the edges with scissors and bent them with my fingers.

I placed the distressed paper on top of the same paper pulled from the 12x12 Paper Pad so the same patterns could peek through all the distressing. Then I machine stitched with white thread down all the wedge edges and kept distressing throughout the process.

I adhered two black & white photos of Jane to the center, slightly overlapping them for interest. Then I added embellishments tone-on-tone with the Stickers, Chipboard Stickers, Epoxy Stickers, and Ephemera Die Cuts, picking icons and words that I thought described Janey girl.

To finish I wrote journaling with a white Uniball Signo pen in the darkest blue section so it was legible. And that's it! Seriously! So easy!

Hello Today Layout by Jamie Pate

Hey, guys! It’s Jamie Pate. Today’s layout is a winter’s tale. March is the month of spring. I know that! But here in the Rockies the first day of spring actually marks three more months of winter for us. Don’t YOU want to live here? So while I am eager to pull out the butterflies and florals, I am still telling stories from our cold season. This is me embracing our chilly reality.

The story told here with Paige’s Snowflake Border cut file + Pick-Me-Up papers goes back to the first of the year. A crazy, crazy time in our household. All my kids were home so I grabbed my girls and we headed to a local trail to grab a couple of photos. This layout is all about that super quick jaunt out in the cold. But I cherish this picture just the same with my three most favoritist of girls. Keeping with my tradition of scrapbook spreads and story telling, I wanted to keep this page pretty clean. I loved the blue ombre background of Paper 14. I cut a strip of that paper about 5-inches wide to scale the full height of the page. It was a great hue for the cool tones of the photo.

To embellish, I wanted snowflakes clustered here and there on the page. Using Paige’s Snowflake Border, I had the Silhouette Cameo cut two sets of this cut at two different sizes. This gave me just a bunch of snowflakes in a variety of patterns to work onto my page. I chose American Crafts white cardstock cause that texture always adds an additional element of texture that I love my pages to have. While the snowflakes were still on the cutting mat I splattered them with gold paint as well as light hues of blue tones of Color Shine. I kept it subtle as I did not want a lot of color to compete with the blue ombre of the background strip of paper.

The snowflakes were adhered to the page with hot glue. Cause as you know with me, have hot glue will craft. This allows the snowflake cuts to attach to the background really well. Plus then I was able to pull the points up to add shadow and dimension to my page layout. After adding layered title elements plus a few other creative touches, additional Color Shine was painted on the page to create journal lines. I wrote my story. And that is how this Hello Today winter’s tale came to be.

World Cup Fever Layout by Zsoka Marko

Hey there friends, Zsoka Marko here with you today sharing a new layout that I've created for the Paige Evans Design Team. There is a Specialty Die Cut Paper in the gorgeous Whimsical collection which I haven't used yet, so I challenged myself to do just that.

Since the paper is white and I'm not much of a white background scrapper, I cut apart the whole sheet and arranged the flowers, leaves, and butterflies in a different way. I chose the beautiful rainbow Paper 16 for my background because I wanted lots of different colors on my layout, however did not want to back the die cuts.

I printed a large, circular photo and arranged everything around it. I then went through the embellishments and pulled out a few in the colors of the background paper: some butterfly Ephemera Die Cuts, Enamel Shapes, and sentiment strips from Paper 08. I also added a few leaves from the Floral Die Cuts.

I used the Foam Mini Thickers for my title which I placed directly on my photo. I added my journaling using a white gel pen and done!

Weekends by Jana Maiwald-McCarthy

Hi everyone, Jana Maiwald-McCarthy back again and I have a new layout to share! For this page I used Paige's Unicorn cut file and her Whimsical + Pick-Me-Up collections.

I cut the Unicorn from white cardstock and backed the open spots with Paper 03, Paper 08, Paper 11, and Paper 17 as well as Paper 04 and Paper 11 from Pick-Me-Up. I wanted to have the same colors on my background paper so I used some Shimmerz Paints and watercolors. I started with the light pink and ended up in the turquoise. I really love how the Unicorn looks on top of it. I used 3D squares for the cut file to raise it up. The pictures I am scrapping here are four small ones of me and my little one. They are colored and in black & white. I fussy cut some matching embellishments from different patterned papers from Whimsical such as flowers from Paper 14, butterflies from Paper 21, and some random words from Paper 18.

I tried to use the same colored elements as the hair and the mixed media in the background. This turned out great and I can't tell you how much I love to use this color-on-color technique! Some flowers from the Floral Die Cuts were also added to the mix of pretty stuff. There was room for more things so I grabbed some of the Chipboard Stickers, flowers and hearts from the Sticker Book, and Puffy Stickers.

Foil Quill Layout: You Are the Cutest Girl in the Whole Wide World

I have a new layout to share today using the new Foil Quill by WeR Memory Keepers and my Whimsical collection!

I started with my Foil Quill - Paige Evans Design Drive and picked a few designs from it: Flower Vase and a whole bunch of different flowers and leaves. I used a Fuchsia Foil Roll to create the large Flower Vase design on a white cardstock background and used the Bold Tip Pen to make the lines as thick as possible.

Then I made the flowers and leaves using the Standard Tip Pen and selected colors from the Peacock Foil Sheets and Flamingo Foil Sheets. I fussy cut all of the flowers and leaves to make custom die cuts and layered them over the Flower Vase, varying the type of adhesive (thick, regular, thin) for lots of dimension.

Time to pick a background! I decided to go with the B-side of Paper 18 with the purple butterflies.

I also toyed with the B-side of Paper 17 which is a beautiful pink ombre, but, I have a personal challenge to only use a single paper once for a layout background and I've already used this one :)


On the background I splashed white acrylic paint and Prima - Pastel Dreams watercolors matching the colors to the foiled flowers. Then I adhered the vase in place and tucked two photos under the right edge.



I created the title on the vase using colorful Foam Mini Thickers and added stickers from the Sticker Book around as well as a few Puffy Stickers. I journaled on the left side with a regular black pen.

To finish I heavily distressed the right edge and a bit of the left edge of the layout and backed the edges with several strips of distressed/punched papers.

Good Times with My Girl Layout by Missy Whidden

Hello again, friends! Missy Whidden here with some new Whimsical inspiration for you. How often do you start a layout with a cut file and let it create your design for you? I’ve been wanting to use Paige’s Half Flower cut file on a page, so I cut it really big on some white cardstock with a Silhouette Cameo 3. I wanted to use all the colors from the Whimsical collection, so I used papers from the 6x6 Paper Pad as well as several other papers to fill in all the flower spots. I didn’t actually back the cut file. I traced each shape onto a different paper and then placed the shapes on top of the cut file. I glued down the inside edges so the outer edges could be bent up for dimension.

I placed three horizontal photos along the bottom of the flower so all of the petals were above them. Here you can see all the dimension created from the petals. This is a fun and easy way to use lots of different colors and patterns on one layout without it becoming too busy.

I wanted to bring some of the colors down below the photos, so I did some mixed media work on the background here. I used Distress Oxides and spray inks to add in yellow, blue, and pink shades. I have been waiting for the right page to use these pennant shaped Chipboard Stickers. I used them all and added adhesive foam behind them to create a fun little banner. I glued white embroidery thread behind the tops of them to make it drape below the photo. I used Stickers for my title as well as a few small alpha stickers from the Sticker Book.

I continued adding bits and pieces below the photo over to the right side as well. I tucked in a big purple flower from the Floral Die Cuts and added a Rub-On, a Sticker Book sticker and another flower from the Floral Die Cuts. I also added in more texture with tangled thread.

I hope you inspired by this in some way! The colors in Whimsical just instantly inspire me every time I look at them and when you add a cut file in with it and it’s like magic! Next time, try using a big cut file like this to help your design get started. It’s great because it limits where you can place everything else and helps you to narrow down what products to use.
