Just went to my weekly doctor appointment, she checked me out, I'm 75% effaced, 4cm dilated, she said to go straight to the hospital. So. Yeah. Here we go! Next time I blog I'll probably have a baby! Woo hoo!!

The One with the First Sign of Labor??

Today I ate spicy nuggets and chili for lunch. Then I ate two big spears of pineapple. Then I drank a cuppa raspberry herbal tea. Then I walked up and down the stairs lots. Then about a half hour ago, after I finished watching Poltergeist, I went to the bathroom and I'm pretty sure I lost my mucous plug. Sorry if that's TMI. I called the hospital and the doctor in labor and delivery said to wait 'til either my contractions are 5 minutes apart for two hours (which I haven't had any painful contractions yet, shoot) or until my water breaks. Hopefully Fox is coming soon! He has the hiccups right now which kind of makes me laugh. Keep you posted.

The One with Fall Into the GAP

I keep my phone by my side 24/7. Even when I sleep. There's a light that flashes every few seconds when I've received a new email or text message or missed call or whatever. Every time I wake up in the middle of the night to go to the restroom or simply turn over (or rather, not so simply...it's HARD to roll over when you're 9 months pregnant!) I notice whether or not the light is flashing; it illuminates the whole room and actually wakes me up sometimes. This morning around 12:33am the light started flashing. Email for me! It was from GAP saying that everything in the store, including already deeply discounted sale items, is 40% off today - or 45% off if you use your GAP card. SOLD!

Okay, so I admit it, I had a hard time falling back asleep. Yes, I get that excited by sales. Instead I did some research on my phone and found the closest GAP. Which one which one which one to go to...there are only about 20 different locations within a few miles, sheesh!

In the end I chose the one on Colorado in Pasadena A) because it's closest and B) because it has GAP AND Baby GAP.

Since I don't enjoy buying clothes for myself as of late, I hooked up my boys instead.


This outfit below isn't from GAP, it's from a sample sale that I went to in LA a couple weeks ago, but since I'm showing clothing pics, here it 'tis and I can't WAIT to see li'l Fox in it come Christmas morning :)

Fox is all set for a snowy Christmas in Denver! Now if he would just get here already...

The One with Nothing

I better blog or else people will think my absence means I had the baby. Whelp. I have not. And I have lost hope that anything I do to try to make him come will do anything but make me tired and cranky. Trying to stay positive and relish in my last few days (hours? weeks?) of freedom. Technically he's not even due 'til Friday so who am I to whine? I guess I just really had hope that if I set my mind to it and went on a few vigorous walks I'd be able to make him come today on 10.10.10. Yes, there are still lots of hours left today, but I hear first time labors take 12-18 hours or so. Anyways. He'll come eventually, that's a guarantee, and I just can't wait to meet him. I try and coax him out while he's moving and tell him it's a lot more fun outside the belly than in; there's a lot more room out here and I promise to be a fun mom :) Sigh. I'm going to go walk up and down some stairs now.

The One with Joey'z a Bee

My friend Reyanna and her husband Jeremy had a hilarious conversation back in May:

Jeremy: I’m a bee! I’m a bee! I’m a - I’m a - I’m a bee!
Reyanna: You’re a BEE?!
Jeremy: No... I’m a bee! It’s a song by the Black Eyed Peas!
Reyanna: Hmmm... Why are the Black Eyed Peas singing about being bees?
Jeremy (laughing): No, they’re not singing about being bees. They’re singing, “Imma be,” as in, “I’m gonna be...” Get it?
Reyanna: Oh. Okay. Huh. I’ve never heard that song.
Jeremy: No? Imma be! Imma be! Imma - Imma - Imma be!
Reyanna: I guess I need to get out more. :-)

Makes me laugh every time I think about it!

I have a point, I promise.

Chris and I were walking around Target after my doctor appointment on Wednesday (nothing new to report except the scale said I gained 5 pounds which is freakin impossible) and we just HAD to go down the Halloween aisles. We came across the pet costumes and looked at each other and said, "Should we or shouldn't we?" We did. We bought Joey a Halloween costume. He's gonna be a cute li'l bee. He'z a bee, he'z a bee, he'z a he'z a he'z a bee!


Oh the humiliation and torture!


He's such a good sport.

Good doggie.


Meanwhile Rachel was at the door screaming, "Let me out! I want to have fun too!"

So yeah, still pregnant. 39 weeks today. Fox is measuring 40 weeks though. Now that we're so close to 10.10.10, I'm hoping he doesn't come today or tomorrow. I'm so wishy washy.

The One with the Finished Nursery

At long last and not a day too soon (hopefully, right?) Fox's room is finished! I got the custom-made crocheted banners in the mail today - thank you so much to Lindsey Ferguson and her shop Hooked on Crochet.

I hung them up all by myself above Fox's crib:




I do realize that we'll have to do some rearranging pretty soon after he's born. He'll be able to reach up and grab the banners and the curtain and that's a big no-no. But for now, it's all good and we'll worry about that when the time comes.

While I was hanging up the banners I noticed what looks like a glow-in-the-dark star sticker that's been painted over.

I wonder if this has been a little boy's room before? So much charm and character and history in these old and decrepit apartments!

Final project for Fox's room - fill the picture frames with photos from our upcoming shoot with Amelia Lyon. I'm so psyched!

The One with the 2Peas Happy Halloween Layout

I love "happy email." That's what I call it when I get unexpected emails from people with happy news, etc. Pretty self-explanatory :) The email I got from Jamie Sorenson over at 2Peas a couple weeks ago was definitely a piece of happy email. I was asked to make a Halloween layout for their SpookCRAFTular event - heck yes I will!

Check out this fancy shmancy logo that was made to go along with my project (I didn't make it, but whoever did, props cuz it's cool!):

And here is the layout I came up with:

HAPPY HALLOWEEN (me & eric)
Supplies: Cardstock, patterned paper, chipboard (borders, letters), Halloween stickers, badges, felt shapes, and rub ons, letter stickers, pen, adhesive: American Crafts; Plastic Halloween charms: Dress It Up; Jewels: Doodlebug Design; Spray mist: Tattered Angels; Sewing machine: Brother; Thread: Coats & Clark

Journaling says: Halloween has always been my favorite holiday. Maybe it's because of the ridiculous amounts of free candy. Maybe it's the picking, planning, and making of costumes. Maybe it's the thrill of watching scary movies. Maybe it's all decorations and cooler weather. Maybe it's because it's the first holiday of the season. It's probably all of the above.

How to recreate this layout: Start with a 12x12 sheet of white cardstock. Spray blue mist on the top right corner, green mist on the left middle edge, and red mist on the bottom right corner. Place chipboard border stickers around the edges. Cut out spider webs from patterned paper, accent the center of each with a black jewel, then adhere with pop dots over the sprayed parts. Add Halloween-themed dimensional felt shapes, badges, stickers, rub ons, plastic charms, and journaling spots cut from patterned paper around each spider web as shown. Adhere four 2 x 3" photos to the middle. Create a title from mixed colors and textures of Thickers. Using a pencil, draw journaling lines then straight stitch over the pencil lines using a sewing machine with black thread; erase any pencil lines still showing. Write journaling with a black pen above the stitched lines. Admire your work :)

Okay, I'm off to pack my hospital bag. No, I'm not in labor, but perhaps it will be the ball that gets this process rolling...!!

The One with the Distressed Spooky Drapes Tutorial

I need something to keep my mind off the fact that I'm still pregnant. I've decided that I'm going to set my heart on the possibility that I might have to be induced a week after my due date. Therefore, in no more than 18 days, tops, I will have a baby. I can do that. Positive thinking. Only 18 more days. So in order to stay distracted I whipped up some fun decor for All Hallow's Eve which I will now share with world wide "webbers". Hehe.

What we're making: Distressed Spooky Drapes

Supplies needed: Black plastic heavy duty garbage bags, sharp scissors, masking tape
Time: 15 minutes per bag
Level of difficulty: Easy peasy


1) Distract the dog with his favorite treat so he'll stay out of the way.


2) Lay a black plastic heavy duty garbage bag on a flat surface with the open end towards you.


3) Trim off 2" from the bottom to get rid of the drawstring.



4) Using sharp scissors, cut 1 to 2" vertical strips going from the bottom to about an inch from the top. Perfection isn't necessary.


5) With your hands a few inches apart, grab each strip (there will be two pieces) and tug and pull each strand in different places.


Tips: Pull very gently at the top because it breaks easily. Pull some places longer than others to vary the lengths of each strip.

6) It should look something like this:


7) Tape to a door or over windows for eerie Halloween decor!

The One with a Sweet Gift

I received a package in the mail on Thursday all the way from Singapore from a fellow scrapper and friend, Piradee Talvanna. This girl is wicked talented. So creative. Send me some mojo will ya? :) I thought it was Scrapbook Trends work related, so I was super happy to see that inside the box was this tray that I envied that she made for the American Crafts blog back in May for Spring Week:

Aren't these handmade paper flowers divine?


Each section has a different li'l work of art that can be removed and replaced with a picture or something else; but I love it just the way it is.

I hung it up in this little nook of my favorite crafts and it fits perfectly.
