So Happy Layout

I created a page just for fun! Gasp! ;)

SO HAPPY by Paige Evans

DESCRIPTION: I saw a pieced dog quilt on Pinterest and thought I'd make a pieced paper cat layout!

JOURNALING SAYS: I love my fat cat Rachel oh so much! After she got fixed she gained so much weight and so I say: so much more to love. She's my favorite kitty cat!

HOW TO: Die cut my cat cut file from scratch cardstock. Use the cut pieces as templates to hand cut coordinating pieces from patterned paper. On more scratch paper (I used a regular piece of copy paper) trace the outline of the cat and begin filling it in with the patterned paper pieces. On white cardstock, make a mixed media background with white paint and splashes of watercolors (I used colors pulled from Fancy Free!). Trace the cat once more onto the background where you want it and then carefully piece the cat once more inside - you could skip placing the pieces on the scratch paper to begin with, but I wasn't quite sure where on the layout I wanted it to be, so I created it on scratch paper first. Poke holes about 1/4" apart all the way around the cat and between all the paper pieces. Backstitch through the holes using white thread. Layer photos and embellishments on the bottom right corner and journal on the top right corner with a black pen.

SUPPLIES: Patterned paper, glitter Thickers, chipboard stickers, dimensional stickers, puffy stickers, transparency die cuts: Fancy Free by Paige Evans / Pink Paislee; Cardstock, pen, adhesive: American Crafts; Doily: Wilton; Watercolors: Loew Cornell; Paint: Americana; Cat cut file: Paige Evans; Die cut machine: Silhouette Cameo; Floss: DMC

Take Me Away Collection Sneaks!

Friday, June 24, 2016

I am so excited to announce my next scrapbooking collection with Pink Paislee called Take Me Away!

Like a European boutique full of eclectic patterns & home decor. A marriage of modern and old inspired by European lifestyle and architecture. Contemporary, clean lines frame rich textures brimming with historical ambiance. Color-blocking and simple layering is contrasted against stitching and tactile pattern combinations. A few bright pops of color peak through washed out neutrals, while joyous phrases give new life to existing products.

In Take Me Away there are 24 exquisite double-sided patterned papers, a 12x12 and 6x6 patterned paper pad, color-block alphabet Thickers, foil phrase Thickers, chipboard shape Thickers, mirror stickers, suede bows, cutesy buttons, an ephemera die cut pack, wood veneers, epoxy paper clips, a roller stamp, cross stitch kits, and another Paige Kit!!

Look for Take Me Away in stores next month and I will start sharing layouts and projects as well as product images soon! Thanks for all your support, it means the world to me!

Love Summer Layout

It's Summer Week on the Pink Paislee blog and here's the layout I made:
 photo P1090775.jpg
LOVE SUMMER by Paige Evans

DESCRIPTION: I didn't use a single piece of patterned paper on this layout, can you believe it?! I did use a big heart background though, something I've done often but goodness I 'love' a big ol' heart background :) For awhile there it was triangles!

JOURNALING SAYS: You and glasses! You are so funny when you just HAVE to have them but then ten seconds later you break them... Goofy girl, you make us laugh so much!

HOW TO: I made a positive-space "love" heart cut file (find it below!) and used a pencil in place of a blade to draw it using a Cameo. I divided the layout into 10 vertical sections just making marks where the drawn pencil lines were - I did this so I could switch the colors of thread and make a rainbow effect. Then I backstitched around the "love" heart to create the background. I added a photo inside the "o" and then embellished with all sorts of things from Fancy Free! I splattered white paint around for the final touch.

SUPPLIES: Thickers, die cuts, wood veneer, stickers (chipboard, dimensional, puffy): Fancy Free by Paige Evans | Pink Paislee; Cardstock, pen, adhesive: American Crafts; Cut file: Paige Evans; Die cut machine: Silhouette Cameo; Floss: DMC

Wanderlust Layout for Scrap-Info Magazine

Monday, June 20, 2016

Here is the third and final layout I made for Scrap-Info Russian Scrapbooking Magazine:
 photo Wanderlust by Paige Evans.jpg
WANDERLUST by Paige Evans

DESCRIPTION: I wanted to create a title that filled up almost the entire page!

JOURNALING SAYS: I hope that you will always live for adventures and traveling the world and experiencing new things in places far far away!

HOW TO: On a robin's egg blue cardstock background, paint white across the top and when it dries splatter watercolors over it. On a scratch piece of 12x12 cardstock I hand drew "WANDERLUST" and then used the letters as templates for hand cutting them from patterned papers. I stitched the letters across the blue background. Tuck a photo under the title and journal below. Embellish with bits and pieces across the page.

SUPPLIES: Patterned paper, die cuts, puffy stickers: Fancy Free by Paige Evans / Pink Paislee; Cardstock, pen, adhesive: American Crafts; Watercolors: Loew Cornell; Paint: Americana; Sewing machine: Brother; Thread: Coats & Clark

Fathers Day 2016

Sunday, June 19, 2016

Happy Father's Day 2016!

First to my dad:
I'm pretty much his clone in every aspect of life, except I'm a girl :) Most of the time, it's a good thing! But, I do need to conquer my biggest challenge we both face which is patience! Thanks for being such a great example to me and Eric and Allie, Dald! Love you!

And to Chris, the best dad in the whole wide world!

I asked the kids some questions and wrote down verbatim what they said. We had quite a laugh reading them together this morning!

The card I made for Chris. There's a sappy love note inside, I ain't gonna share that ;)

Who taught these kids how to smile?

To all the dads out there, Happy Fathers Day!

Pages from Paige's Pages 08

Friday, June 17, 2016

Here are the four layouts that I made for Paige's Pages 08 over at Big Picture Classes! All of the layouts feature Fancy Free!
 photo Primary by Paige Evans.jpg

In the first lesson I created flower cut files based on one of the patterned paper flowers and used them to create a whimsical border down the right half of this page. Cut file included in the lesson!

Pinterest for the win! I saw a pin where someone used a paper towel roll tube bent into a heart and paint like a stamp for a kids craft project and that's how this layout was born.

Can't go too long without backing a cut file :) The cut file is included for free in this lesson so download it today and happy scrapping!

I wanted to share how exactly to use the heart string art template from Fancy Free so that's what this lesson is focused on, with a fun twist of changing thread colors every once in awhile!

All of these layouts are available to learn how to make in start-to-finish videos at Paige's Pages 08 at Big Picture Classes! Paige's Pages 09 should be available later this summer - gotta start thinking of what to make!

Wander Layout for Scrap-Info Magazine

Wednesday, June 15, 2016

Here is the second layout I made for Scrap-Info Russian Scrapbooking Magazine!
 photo Wander by Paige Evans.jpg
WANDER by Paige Evans

DESCRIPTION: Lots of things I love all rolled up into one page: stitching, a big background element, traveling, and COLOR!

JOURNALING SAYS: This was one of my favorite places in Ireland, maybe even all of Europe because of all the colors! Be still my heart! I hope we get to go back to Kinsale some day when it's nice and warm and relax in this spot.

HOW TO: This globe is a super old Two Peas cut file (RIP :( so I encourage finding a similar one in the Silhouette store (click on that link to go right to globes) or send me an email! Replace the blade with a pen and draw the globe onto white cardstock, poke a hole every 1/4" all around, then backstitch with blue thread. Create two clusters of embellishments - one on the top right including the photo and journaling, and the other on the bottom left; this helps draw the eye all around the page. I placed a puffy star sticker over "Los Angeles" which was our last home. Germany is covered up or I would have put it there. I cut out the phrases from the 6x6" circles paper and glued them around the curve of the globe and added machine stitching here and there for more texture and whimsy. Lastly I dropped blue watercolors over the embellishment clusters.

SUPPLIES: Patterned paper, die cuts, journaling spots, layered sticker, puffy stickers, chipboard stickers: Fancy Free by Paige Evans / Pink Paislee; Globe cut file: Two Peas; Cardstock, pen, adhesive: American Crafts; Floss: DMC; Die cut machine: Silhouette Cameo; Sewing machine: Brother; Thread: Coats & Clark; Watercolors: Loew Cornell
