The One with a Pinterest 4th of July

Monday, July 4, 2011

Happy Independence Day to all my stateside friends! And happy regular July 4th day to everyone else :) Since most of our festive activities haven't come to pass yet, I'll share some 4th of July things I like today and post what we did tomorrow. Get it? Got it? Good!

Pinterest makes it so easy to copy and paste my favorite bits of inspiration!

I don't really like pancakes, but I think I'd make an exception for these bad boys!

My parent's house in Wallace, ID decked out for the holiday. It's been one of my mom's dreams to dress up her house like this. Dream come true!

I wonder if this is a picture of real fireworks? If so, it's beautiful! If not, it's still beautiful!

Cute party favors!

A balloon wreath that would be fun to make with kiddos.

I love the red, white, and blue paper accordion decorations.

Somebody please teach me how to make this cake!

I want to make this print and frame it in an extra large frame!

This one too.

Now this I could make! Die cut lots of stars using a Cricut and sew them together with red thread. Easy peasy!

I've always wanted to try making sparkler pictures. Perhaps today is the day!

Note to future self: Plant red, white, and blue flowers in June for 4th of July loveliness!

Totally digging these streamers intertwined with twinkle lights.

Patriotic painted wood? Yes please!

I totally have that red striped fabric! Filed in my "to make" folder.

I think these are just plain ol' cute.

Ooooh. What a pretty 4th of July cake! It's much to good looking to cut apart and eat!

More of these things. I think I have an addiction!

What's not to love about white chocolate dipped strawberries with a little blue sprinkles?

Oh wow. Mouth is watering! What a perfect 4th breakfast!

That's all for now! Time to go celebrate our independence with balloons, a parade, good food, good friends, and fireworks! It promises to be an extra special day!

The One with Pink's Hot Dogs

Sunday, July 3, 2011

After Madame Tussauds on June 28th 2011 we decided to try a place called Pink's Hot Dogs. Apparently it's a famous Hollywood landmark that Chris wanted to try. Sure thing babe!
Photobucket
I'll admit I was a little skeptical cuz it seemed like a dive, but I guess the ghettoer the better sometimes right?
Photobucket
Photobucket
For being a hot dog stand they sure have an extensive menu!
Photobucket
While Chris ordered I walked around with Fox and snapped away.

Photobucket
Who knew garbage cans could be cute? Alls I know is I want one of these pink trash bins!

The inside dining.

Massive "wall of fame" with autographed and framed and pictures of stars who have eaten at Pink's.

We found a spot outside to eat.
Photobucket
I ordered a spicy polish chili dog, Chris got a 9" stretch chili dog, and we shared a side of fries.
Photobucket
Spicy definitely meant spicy! I actually couldn't finish my food cuz my mouth felt like it was on fire! But from what I could taste it was delicious :)

On the way home we passed by Paramount Pictures.

I wonder if they do tours? I bet they do. And I wanna go.

The One with Using Groupons: Robin's

Saturday, July 2, 2011

Every Thursday there is a Farmer's Market in South Pasadena and a couple weeks ago we tried some delicious BBQ. Then a few days later Groupon offered a Groupon to the actual restaurant of this BBQ place - Robin's BBQ - so of course I had to jump on that! I've been in the mood for BBQ ever since I went to visit Reyanna in Texas and had brisket for the very first time. I want to live in Texas just so I can eat brisket every day for the rest of my life!

The menu.
Photobucket
Fox picking out his meal. Or rather, just shaking the menu like a Polaroid picture.
Photobucket
Making silly faces to pass the time while waiting for our food.
Photobucket
Taking random pictures to document the experience. Like the checkerboard pattern of the table.
Photobucket
I got some kind of BBQ meat sandwich with a side of baked beans.
Photobucket
10 out of 10. Thank you Groupon!

The One with Using Groupons: Book'em Mysteries

Friday, July 1, 2011

For Father's Day I got Chris two $10 for $20 of books to Book'em Mysteries in South Pasadena Groupons. On June 23rd 2011 we ventured out to this quaint little bookstore on Mission Street. All the following pictures were taken with my phone so quality ain't guaranteed :)

Chris and Fox as ghosts outside the store.

While Chris perused...
Photobucket
...I walked around the shop and found beauty in the details. Like these festive pillows.
Photobucket
I would read this book just because I love the cover. I'm totally judging a book by it's cover. Don't judge me.
Photobucket
The store is called Book'em Mysteries because the only genre of books they sell is mysteries. So many mystical books!
Photobucket
Only one Groupon can be used at a time so we'll be back! Chris chose Midnight House by Alex Berenson and Rules of Vengence by Christopher Reich. Every Wednesday Chris posts a book review of a book he's read on his blog - [Open Book] - so look for these two books soon!
Photobucket
So long for now Book'em Mysteries!
