Workshop in Prague Recap

On Saturday March 25th I taught a mini album and layout workshop to a bunch of lovely ladies in the lovely city of Prague for Papero Amo! Anna typed up a very nice summary of the workshop and I have taken several of the photos from her post: http://paperoamo.blogspot.de/2017/03/paige-evans-v-praze-jak-jsme-se-meli.html Now I want to write a version from my point of view :) But first, one of the layouts I taught:
BRIGHT SIDE by Paige Evans
DESCRIPTION: I combined lots of my favorite techniques on this layout: fussy cutting, FLOWERS, and hand stitching!
JOURNALING SAYS: You do so much for me every single day, you really are my better half! I love the life we've made together and eternity simply isn't long enough!
HOW TO: With a pencil draw an "X" over a white cardstock background, leaving an inch or two at the corners, and then cover it with washi strips. Back stitch over the washi strips using white thread. Fussy cut flowers then adhere them along with die cuts and stickers to the left and right sections. Layer a photo and die cuts in the center then journal below. Fill in empty spaces with stamping.

Now for the recap! I woke up early Saturday morning and headed out before the sun was up. The sky was the most beautiful shade of blue/pink/red.
 Germany at its finest.
30 ladies from across the Czech Republic and even all the way from Moscow Russia came to scrap together!

It was so fun to see how each participant made her box a different theme and used embellishments in unique ways!

During the lunch break I perused the pop-up shop.
 I looooooove seeing and touching scrapbooking supplies in real life!

 Lunch was prepared in the front space of the multi-purpose workroom which is a quaint cafe. I don't even know what this is but it was goooooood!
I also got a refreshing berry drink from the front room cafe that I was able to make last all day long.

 After lunch we made two layouts. The first I described at the beginning. I loved seeing everyone's variations!


And then we wrapped up class with this layout:
SWEET ZOE JEAN by Paige Evans
DESCRIPTION: I love using the papers with all the squares of small patterns for teaching workshops! This one features Paper 24.
JOURNALING SAYS: You are such a sweet little girl! I wish I could have snuggled you as a baby! You'll just have to have some brothers & sisters :) Can't wait to meet you IRL!
HOW TO: Hand cut hearts from Paper 24 then trace around the edges with a black pen. Adhere the hearts along the diagonal of Paper 17. Balance a photo cluster with an embellishment/title/journaling cluster on opposite sides of the hearts.

 I didn't get a chance to walk around the city (though I did spot one of the "1000 spires" just down the street!), however I did get to drive right through the heart of Prague and I was overjoyed to spot some of the major landmarks like the Charles Bridge and drove right by the Dancing House by Frank Gherry.
 I drove to Prague as the sun was rising and drove back home as the sun was setting. It was beautiful day with gorgeous scenery from start to finish.

Liebe Anni Layout by Steffi Ried

Continuing on with the circles theme, design team member Steffi Ried is back sharing a new and incredible layout!
Hello and welcome! I love circles, especially on layouts. On my first layout as a designer for Paige Evans I arranged the circles in the middle. This time I created a frame with the circles and photos and the journaling placed in the middle.
 First I chose colors from the different collection papers and punched out circles in different sizes. Since I wanted to accommodate several photos on the layout, I also punched them out. These were integrated into the frame of circles.
Before I arranged the circles, I typed the journaling on the computer and printed it. Then I painted a few circles with watercolors.
My sewing machine came next! Of course, these circles were not quite so round but I do not find that so bad. Must not be perfect, right?
I glued the circles with glue dots and sprinkled on some buttons - then the layout was finished!

Lunch Layout

The colors of the Fancy Free Journaling Tags lend themselves well to a layout about me and my favorite little guy!
LUNCH by Paige Evans
DESCRIPTION: Hooray for grid-based designs! They come together so quickly!
JOURNALING SAYS: The day after the Super Bowl Chris did not have to go into work until the afternoon so we went and had lunch with Fox for the first time and now of course he wants us to have lunch with him every day :)
HOW TO: Figure out the placement of 8 journaling cards across Paper 08 then use a ruler and pencil to draw lines between. Pierce holes and stitch through the lines. Embellish each journaling card with something whether it's a photo, actual journaling, stickers, wood veneer, Thickers, etc. Use a sewing machine to stitch through some of the embellishments and the title.

Did you know the Oh My Heart 12x12 Paper Pad comes with 6 specialty papers that have rose gold foil accents and 6 die cut papers so if you don't have a Cameo you can still makes pages that look like you do?! I asked the girls who made projects this week to focus on CIRCLES and I super love what Design Team member Flóra Farkas created! I'm sure you will too!
Hi there! It’s Flóra back with a new layout created with the Oh My Heart collection. I have just received the 12x12 Paper Pad and found out some of the papers have extra rose gold foil! I was so amazed by them that I instantly chose one of the papers from the pad as my background. The extra foil gave such a stunning effect to my project!
I chose Paper 09 and cut out a large circle with my Silhouette Cameo. I was trying a lot of solutions, how and where to place my photo, but it seemed tricky. Then I printed out 2x2” photos and gave it a go. It was almost perfect, but still something missing. I printed another version with round photos and cut them out with Sizzix die. Perfect!
I loved the result, so I started to embellish the small windows. This was also problematic because all the big elements looked weird next to the small photos. I chose lots of cute elements from the Sticker Book, Puffy Stickers, and the Chipboard Stickers. Thickers are also great for adding bits & pieces to your layout. In the end I balanced my layout with rose gold foiled stickers.
I can’t wait to try the 12x12 die cuts from the Oh My Heart 12x12 Paper Pad. This pad looks like tons of fun! That's it for today! Thanks for stopping by!

Guest Designer: Anna Komenda

I was searching through instagram and found a layout by Anna Komenda which then lead to a full-fledged stalking of her feed, then blog, YouTube, Facebook.... let's just say I'm her newest biggest fan! I sent her my Oh My Heart collection and couldn't wait to see what she created!
Tell us a little bit about yourself: My name is Anna and I live in Poland with my little family. I am a geologist but I haven't been working for few years. I decided to stay at home with my little girls. They are growing so fast.

 How did you get started scrapbooking? I started scrapbooking more than 8 years ago when I became a mom for the first time. I think that many scrappers started at this point. I had so many cute pictures of my baby and I wanted find a way to highlight them somewhere. This is how I found out about scrapbooking as a way of preserving memories. Making projects with pictures is still my favourite way of expression and layouts and mini albums are my favourite forms.

What is your favorite Pink Paislee product? I love patterned papers and chipboard stickers.

5 fun facts about you:
1. I am a roller coaster junkie. The faster the better.
2. I could eat chocolate for every meal. I have such a sweet tooth.
3. I would rather melt of heat than be cold. I hate winter.
4. I can't sing but I love singing. Sing Star is my favourite. Neighbours are not so happy though.
5. I can fall asleep in a seconds, even standing. I am lousy night driver because of that.

Stamps can be great with creating a fun background. All you need is watercolor paper, embossing ink and powder, and watercolors and you will get every color and style you need!
A big title can be a great way to use up your 6x6 paper pads. Create each letter using different pattern and you will get colorful and fun design!
Do you have a lot of small square pictures? Create a mini album to use them up and you will have a great gift for the person you love!

I love flowers on my pages. Using simple oval shapes layered together can give you great, whimsical florals.

So Dreamy Layout

This is the first layout I made when I went on the Fox-layout-making-spree a little while ago :) I wanted to dig back into my first collection (Fancy Free) and make a few pages for him using favorite techniques.
SO DREAMY by Paige Evans
DESCRIPTION: Quilts are a great place to turn to for paper piecing ideas! Replace the quilt blocks with patterned papers and you've got yourself a great composition.
JOURNALING SAYS: You are growing up right before our eyes its' like we blinked and you turned 6 going on 16! You're amazing!
HOW TO: Paint nine white circles across the B side of Paper 04 then splash watercolors over them. The watercolors were too bright so I toned them down with more paint. Punch 1" squares from Paper 06 then trim the squares in half to make triangles. Piece the triangles into 9 new squares on scratch paper, trim them out, stitch through them, then adhere them onto the painted circles. Add two photos, a title, die cuts, layered stickers, and more! Journal at the bottom to finish. Oh also, I painted over the glitter foam "dream" sticker with white paint to tone it down.
