Sunshine and Happiness Layout by Maija Männistö

Hi friends, Maija Männistö here to share my first DT layout with Go the Scenic Route. Don’t you just love the colors?! I love the bright and crisp tones, they will sure bring joy in the upcoming darker months here in the north!

I just couldn’t resist fussy cutting into all those gorgeous floral papers so I really wanted to create a wreath. I didn’t want any flowers on it so for my cut file I chose Paige's Branches Wreath cut file. I cut it from one of the papers in the 12x12 Paper Pad - the perfect turquoise color! I wanted to add some dimension to the wreath so I used the off cuts as my guides and blotted the paper with pink ink. Then I added pink splashes of color mists. The wreath itself I only glued on from the circle and bent the individual branches up just a little bit for dimension.

For my cluster of flowers I used two of the floral papers from the 12x12 Paper Pad as well as the same one with the bright pink flowers from the 6x8 Paper Pad. I love to be able to add flowers in different sizes. To bring even more fun and colors into the wreath I fussy cut butterflies from a paper in the 12x12 Paper Pad. As the title I used two pieces from the Chipboard Stickers - "sunshine" & "and happiness".

On the opposite side of the wreath I made another cluster with the same flowers. I also added the super cute "wild and free" sticker from the Cardstock Stickers. Around both clusters I added some of the Enamel Dots, which are just the perfect finishing touch to any layout!

Magical Moments with You Layout by Paige Evans

Howdy! I'm back today with a new layout using my Go the Scenic Route collection!

 For this page I used two pieces of the floral striped Paper 23. I trimmed (3) 1/4" strips from every different stripe of pattern in the paper. Some strips were too narrow to get (3) 1/4" strips which required another sheet of Paper 23.

 I found an image of an equilateral triangle on the internet and printed it out to use for making the angles of the paper strips all the same. I trimmed two paper strips into 10 1/4", added a dab of glue at the top, and placed them along the top angle of the printed equilateral triangle. The last strip I placed across the bottom and then once the glue dried I trimmed the corners to complete the triangles. A process video would be helpful but I'm struggling for time right now, however I did create a very similar layout for Two Peas in a Bucket many many years ago which you can watch HERE.

 In total I created (15) paper triangles. I layered them onto the blue wash B-side of Paper 2 and tried to space them as evenly as I could into a round/circular design. Once the placement/spacing was as good as I could manage (don't look too closely lol!) I used liquid glue underneath most of the overlapping spots to hold it all together and then affixed it onto the background paper.

 I added a cute photo of Jane scrapping with me (dream come true!) onto the left side of the inner circle. To embellish I tucked the colorful perforated ticket sentiments from the Ephemera Die Cuts under the right edge of the photo, stitched a tab to the top, and added a blue heart Puffy Thicker.

On the right side I created an embellishment cluster with Ephemera Die Cuts, a mix of letters from the Puffy Word Stickers to say "MOMENTS" (stitched down so they won't go anywhere anytime soon), and Cardstock Stickers. I stamped the date and wrote journaling with a blue pen to finish.

Autumn Book by Paula Fiihr

Hello friends! Paula Fiihr here! Today am sharing a mini book made with the Go the Scenic Route line. It’s super easy to make a book using plastic disks which allow you to add and change up the pages with no problems.

For the cover I chose Paige's Autumn Grid cut file and cut it from the red heart paper from the 12x12 Paper Pad. The letters were filled in with the block paper from the 6x8 Paper Pad and I backed it all with the yellow polka dot paper also from the 12x12 Paper Pad. The cover is Paper 13. I glued the grid and added some hearts from the Puffy Phrase Thickers and a heart Chipboard Sticker. Before attaching the heart I added a bit of dmc floss.

The pages inside are decorated with Acrylic Stamps, Ephemera Die Cuts, and Floral Die Cuts. One page is watercolor paper that I did some mixed media fun on with acrylic paint. I added tabs cut from the 6x8 Paper Pad and the Flag Paperclips. A bit of pink ric rac lines the inside covers.

I will continue to fill in the book with my autumn memories, so I left spots for pics and journaling throughout. To finish it, I used the happy planner punch and picked out 5 colorful disks. On the top disk, I pierced a hole and added a Charm with embroidery floss.

Snap a Photo Layout by Stefanie Ried

Hi friends, Stefanie Ried here! For me, August was a time of pause. Just switch off from everything. Even my scrap room had a break :) But last weekend I cleaned it up again. Many things fell into my hands that I haven't seen for a looong time. Do you feel the same way? Suddenly you find things and I had an idea for my next layout. I finally got all my metal dies nicely sorted by theme and many tag punches fell into my hands. And so I started selecting different papers from the new Go the Scenic Route collection.

I wanted to make small, long tags, connected to each other with a yarn in the front. I did not glue the pendants directly onto the paper. Instead I cut small lines with a cutter, folded the pendants, and pushed them through the openings:

I also integrated photos as tags into the layout as well as the journaling and embellished tone-on-tone with Foam Thickers, Puffy Phrase Thickers, Puffy Word Stickers, Cardstock Stickers, Chipboard Stickers, Enamel Dots, Floral Die Cuts, Ephemera Die Cuts, Charms, and little fussy cut images.

Let's Stay Little Layout by Kelly Daye

Hi friends! Kelly Daye here, remembering some childhood days with Paige’s newest collection, Go the Scenic Route. Have you ever said, “They grow up too fast” or “Let them stay little longer”? That’s what I was thinking about when I began my layout.

I’m so thankful for the happy, bright colors this collection brings to my crafting. I think I might have used them all with Paige’s Sketch & Stitch Butterflies Background 1 cut file. I wanted to fill the whole half of my layout with stitching. After shrinking the cut file a bit, I copied and pasted enough butterflies to fill the page and cut it out of white cardstock. If you’ve never used one of these files, Paige has made a really great tutorial to show you how.

At first, with all the color going into my design, I thought I’d make my photos B&W. But childhood is colorful, especially with three brothers, so I printed them in color. I think the photos we share and the memories they evoke need to tell the right story. That’s all of us kids visiting the farm. No electricity and an outhouse but we loved it out there. This corner of my layout was filled with Paper 11. Reminiscent of a pretty quilt, it was perfect for a visit with Grandpa.

My title was made with letters from the Puffy Word Stickers. I always get two packages - one for mixing my own words with lots of color. The package is full of fabulous and colorful prompts for our layouts, like: new, today, play, hi, best, memories, story. They offer a nice jumping off point for ideas. I added them to the big yellow journaling circle from the Ephemera Die Cuts. Is that bird just not the sweetest? I adore the images in this collection so much.

My photos and title are surrounded with pretty flowers from the Floral Die Cuts. To create that invisible triangle, two more tags from the Ephemera Die Cuts were added opposite the title. ‘Always A Dreamer’, that was Trevor, the little one with his eyes closed. I’ve sprinkled pretty Enamel Dots around the page. They have my heart, full of glitter and images of tiny birds and flowers (of course I bought two packages).

Handsome Smile Layout by Paige Evans

I have a new layout to share today using my Go the Scenic Route collection and Stars cut file!

While my Stars cut file was being cut on the Silhouette Cameo from the dark blue B-side of Paper 4, I chose a background: the blue mandala B-side of Paper 10. Originally I was going to make this a monochromatic blue layout, but quickly changed to lots of colors, I just can't help it ;)

 I backed the largest star with a photo of Fox. I can't even with this photo! He's so handsome! I used tiny dimensional foam squares to adhere the photo as well as the rest of the patterned paper stars in place to create depth and shadows.

 Most of the stars were cut from the multi-patterned squares of Paper 10 and I traced the inner stars leftover on the sticky mat onto the chosen portion paper and cut out the stars slightly larger to back the cut file.

I created three embellishment clusters - one is the title, one is journaling, and one is subtitles. For the title I used the Foam Thickers to write "HANDSOME" and used the orange "smile" from the Puffy Phrase Thickers below.

The journaling was written on two Ephemera Die Cuts and I stamped the date as well.  The last cluster is a couple of "smile" Cardstock Stickers, a "wild & free" Chipboard Sticker, and a "smile" heart fussy cut from a 2x2 Paper Pad. The last step was to splash watered down white acrylic paint in three sections to again create a visual triangle.

Accordion Box Mini Album by Amber Mitchell

Hello crafty friends! Amber Mitchell here here on Paige's blog today to share with you this fun mini album I created using the new Go the Scenic Route collection and Paige's Accordion Box Mini Album cut file.

The bright and happy colors and sentiments of this collection made me want to create something that popped! The Accordion Box Mini Album cut file was perfect for that. It's unique, fun, and easy to assemble - it only takes a few moments once all the pieces are cut!

This album has a lot of space for memories and photos. As such, I made sure to include journaling spaces in each individual pocket by using pieces I cut from Paper 1 along with some pieces I selected from the Ephemera Die Cuts. I stitched around the edges of these pieces to add texture and even layered some up before moving onto embellishing.

One thing I love about new collections is getting to play with all the pretty bits and pieces for the first time! I used a mixture of pieces from the Chipboard Stickers, Ephemera Die Cuts, Floral Die Cuts, and Cardstock Stickers to decorate both the cover of this album as well as the journaling cards scattered throughout it. I love how all the colors pop against one another!

The final touch I wanted to include for this project were a few handmade journals. I've recently jumped into learning more about bookbinding and wanted to practice a bit. These journals measure 3.5 x 4.25" and are bound together using a saddle stitch. To dress these up a bit I added a few charms to the spines of each one. I also used the Foam Thickers, Ephemera Die Cuts, Floral Die Cuts, Cardstock Stickers and Paige's Flower cut file to embellish these.

Happy Mail Layout by Elsie Robinson

Hey everyone, it’s Elsie Robinson here with my first layout using Paige’s latest collection: Go the Scenic Route! For this layout I was inspired by all of the gorgeous patterned papers in the collection, and so I picked one of Paige’s more intricate cut files which meant I could back it with lots of pretty papers! I used this fun Mailbox cut file.

Once I cut the mailbox from white cardstock, I started to back it with papers from the 6x8 Paper Pad. I love the red floral with navy foil paper, so I used that to back the flag. I couldn’t resist using the blue floral pattern to back the rest of the mailbox with, since navy and red are one of my favourite color combinations. I backed the post with Paper 13 - this pink pattern has so much texture which adds a lot of character. Finally, I used the various swatches on Paper 10 to back the envelopes that are coming out of the mailbox.

To go along with the ‘mail’ theme, I created a 2x3 envelope using Paper 14 so I could tuck my photo into it and make it a feature of the layout. I nestled the envelope into the rest of the mail to give the effect that it was also coming out of the mailbox.

To embellish, I used bird Chipboard Stickers, butterfly Ephemera Die Cuts, and Floral Die Cuts to add some more pops of color and whimsy. Of course I also had to use one of the postage stamp Cardstock Stickers and make one of the birds look like it’s holding a pen for some cute extra detail. And finally, for my title I used a Chipboard Sticker heart that says ‘happy’ and a combination of letters from the Puffy Word Stickers to complete my title ‘happy mail’.

Stitched Butterfly Layout by Paige Evans

I made this layout featuring my Sketch & Stitch Floral Butterfly cut file and Go the Scenic Route collection!

  I started by having my Silhouette Cameo first draw the Sketch & Stitch Floral Butterfly cut file with a pencil in the first tool holder on a thick sheet of smooth white cardstock, and then it cut all the holes with a ratchet blade in the second tool holder. I have a process video showing how to use my Sketch & Stitch cut files here.

 Once I unloaded the cardstock from the machine and peeled it off the mat, it was time to choose a thread for hand stitching! I went with the lovely variegated DMC 4501 thread. I love the pretty green, teal, and pink mixed together.

 The hand stitching took about 15 hours. It's a labor of love and I know people call me crazy, but I do love projects the yield beautiful results! To help reach all the areas of the butterfly easily, I roughly cut around the butterfly shape and then once I finished stitching I fussy cut around it leaving about a 1/4" border. It's basically a giant die cut!

 For the background I chose a mint textured cardstock and adhered the butterfly front and center. We got our family photos taken recently and I've been sent a few preview pics, so I chose this one of darling Jane. I added the photo to the right side of the butterfly so not too much of it was covered up and then got to work embellishing.

 I made the title from the colorful Foam Thickers in Go the Scenic Route as well as the white mini foam Thickers from Pick-Me-Up (they're still available online at JoAnn!) to say "you are such a lovely girl" above the butterfly.

 I added a trio of butterfly stickers in a visual triangle to emphasize the butterfly theme which are from the Chipboard Stickers and Cardstock Stickers. I clustered Floral Die Cuts under and around the butterfly in colors to match the thread and photo. A few other bits & pieces like a journaling spot, heart stickers, tiny strips of Washi Tape, portions of floral frames, and colorful buttons from my stash add touches of texture and color to this layout.

 For the final step, I splashed watered down white acrylic paint over the embellishment clusters and stamped the date on a "today" die cut placed at the top right corner.
