Tiny Folding Hexagons Mini Album

Sunday, January 5, 2020

I sat down to make a layout with Truly Grateful and ended up making a mini album instead. It happens lol. As soon as I saw the hexagonal Paper 21 I decided to cut out a honeycomb shaped section of it and then fold it up to create a tiny hexagon mini album.
Here is a little flip through so you can see this album "live":

I started by cutting out a portion of hexagons from Paper 21 and then sliced up to the center section from each corner - now the album is ready to be folded up! It doesn't fold up perfectly and I'm A-OK with that, I love the little hidden bits peeking out and the layers.

I embellished each hexagon, front and back, with bits and pieces from Truly Grateful. From tiny fussy cut leaves to the enamel hearts in the Mixed Embellishments, because of the miniature size of this project, there isn't much room to decorate so it came together super quickly! I'm talkin' two hours max. That's a win in my book!

I used a hexagon punch on two photos of Jane and added them with foam squares to two of the hexagons.

Some little sections have more on them than others and that creates a good balance between busy and just enough.

This bedazzled frame around the squirrel might be my favorite. I used the tiniest clear sequins from the Mixed Embellishments to add some glitz and glam and then fussy cut a butterfly and bird from Paper 11 to add on top.

The words in the Puffy Phrase Stickers perfectly go with this darling girl so I chose the "beauty" and "you" to frame the pictures.

In the top section I wrote journaling with a white sharpie pen and used the same pen to doodle around a couple other hexagons.

Here is a look at the embellished backside. Notice I used a sentiment from the Cardstock Stickers to hold a piece of pink baker's twine in place which keeps the album closed when tied in a bow.

I hope this tiny hexagon album inspires you in some way today! I had so much fun making it and adding it to my mini album collection :)
