Talented & Sweet Aspen Layout by Paige Evans for Cocoa Daisy

Here is my second guest designer layout with the August Peach Ridge kits by Cocoa Daisy!

I started this layout by hand cutting circles in a bunch of sizes from all the patterned papers. For texture I used a pair of scissors to distress the edges and then crumpled them. I layered 5 concentric circles together, topped them with an enamel dot, and then adhered them across the lower half of a kraft cardstock background that I had splashed watered down white acrylic paint across for the first layer.

I made "stems" with various green patterned papers and machine stitched them in place. I hand cut leaves from more green patterned papers, machine stitched through them, and glued them to the stems. I tucked 2 photos into the flowers and then created the title with a mix of alpha stickers. To finish, I sprinkled enamel dots and chipboard stickers between and around the flowers.

August Layout by Paige Evans for Cocoa Daisy

I was so excited to be asked to guest design with the August kits for Cocoa Daisy called Peach Ridge! Here is the first layout I made - I'll share the second one tomorrow so be sure to come back then!

To create this layout, I hand cut a heart from white cardstock and then used it as a template to trace and cut out 9 hearts from the pretty patterned papers as well as 1 photo. To add texture and interest to the hearts I machine stitched around them with white thread and then I arranged the hearts on a cream textured cardstock background in rows of 3, 4, and 3. 

For another element of interest I splashed watered down white acrylic paint across the page. I made the title "AUGUST" with the wood veneer piece on the top center heart. For embellishing, I mainly stuck with a tone-on-tone theme and added blue pieces to the blue heart, peach pieces to the peach heart, so on and so forth until the layout felt complete!

Ocean Wreath Layout by Marinette M'Boussi

 Hello everyone! Marinette M'Boussi here today to share with you my newest summer layout. Creating something about the sea is always my favorite theme, that’s why I used Paige’s Fish Stencil and Ocean Wreath cut file.

I started by cutting the Ocean Wreath cut file from white cardstock using my Silhouette Cameo and backed it with the Sunny Day collection by Maggie Holmes.

Then I applied gesso on a piece of white cardstock and used modeling paste through the Fish Stencil. Once it was dry, I chose some blue, purple, and green Distress Oxides and applied them forming a circle. I mixed all the colors to get something close to the ocean color.

I placed the wreath on the paper and backed my picture with papers from the same collection. I added some stickers and embellishments as a final touch.

Flower Heart Layout by Zsoka Marko

Hi there crafty peeps, Zsoka Marko stopping by today to share a new layout I've created for the Paige Evans Design Team! I've used the Wonders collection on this page. I rarely scrap pictures of objects, but I love this photo of the newest DMC floss additions to my collection, the colors are so lovely! Plus, they were my birthday present (to myself haha), so I decided they deserve their own scrapbook page!

My idea was to recreate the colors of the floss on the right side of this beautiful Flower Heart cut file. Paper 15 has all kinds of colorful stripes, so I cut it apart and pulled out the colors I needed. I was going to place the photo over this colorful section, but it didn't quite work the way I imagined, so I gave up on that idea.

I was then kind of stuck because I never plan with the embellishments - I think I already mentioned this. So, I didn't have any idea how to finish my page ha! That's when Floral Die Cuts come in handy. They just work with anything in my opinion. I picked a few Floral Die Cuts that matched my colors and started tucking them under my photo. It's a pity that I covered up that gorgeous cut file, really!

I didn't add a whole lot of embellishments. I layered a couple of Ephemera Die Cuts behind my photo, placed a Banner Sticker on top, and added a few of those colorful scalloped Chipboard Stickers on the top right corner of the page. To finish off my layout, I stamped my date and added journaling.

Bloom Street Envelopes Mini Album by Amber Mitchell

Hello crafty friends, Amber Mitchell here on Paige's blog today to share with you a cute and quick mini album using Paige's Envelope cut files and her Bloom Street collection.

It's no secret that I love making mini albums; they're just so fun to make! What might come as a surprise though, is that I find quick and simple mini albums to be the most fun to create. Having a project come together in just one day is really satisfying (not to mention convenient when you're short on time)! So, if you're like me, then you'll love this envelope mini!

I used five of Paige's Envelope cut files to create the base of this mini album. I started by resizing each file so that all of my envelopes measured about 4 inches in width (or height when rotated like in the album). I then cut them using patterned papers from the Bloom Street collection and machine stitched along all the edges of each one for added texture.

Once the envelopes were assembled, I stacked them from shortest in width to longest. This adds a layered effect to the album that allows fun elements to peek through from all views.

Since this album is designed to be quick and easy, I used white binder rings to hold it together. To give the front cover of the album a more finished look, I added purple eyelets to match the collection.

When it came to embellishing this project, I decided to go for a very floral theme; you can never go wrong with flowers! Each page of my album is decorated with floral die cuts and embellishments. These can be found and printed as many times as you'd like from the Bloom Street Digital Collection. I dressed the pages up even more by adding small butterfly and bee die cuts along with some stickers. I used the Cardstock Stickers and the 4-Page Sticker Book to layer up some sentiments.

I wanted the cover of my album to really pop and catch the eye, so I created a large, 3D floral cluster using Paige's Layered Flower and Leaves cut files. And of course, I added some charms and tassels to each binder ring for some extra fun!

For journaling, I used some cut apart cards from the 6x8 Paper Pad, 2x2 Paper Pads, and Paper 17. I machine stitched along the edges of all of these as well and left the backs of them blank for documenting.

Hello Today Home Life Layout by Missy Whidden

 Hey friends! Missy Whidden here with a new mixed media layout featuring lots of hearts. I mixed Paige’s Wonders and Go the Scenic Route collections to create a fun blue, pink, and orange color scheme. I pulled a heart punch from my stash and went to work with some of the patterned papers. My design idea changed several times and I wound up trimming the hearts to make them a little smaller. I also used the trimmed hearts on the page. I used Wonders Paper 3 for the background and I coated a lot of it with white gesso - this helped to fade some of the pattern and prep the paper for inks and sprays. I scraped a few matching Distress Oxides across the paper and added a bit of water to make the colors run and blend.

I decided to stack my two photos vertically and place the hearts around them. I distressed the edges of the solid hearts, glued them all down, and then machine stitched through the centers with gold metallic thread. I also used a few matching Shimmerz sprays to add some splatters as well as some Jen Hadfield Gold Glitter Spray. I embellished around the photos with a few Wonders Ephemera Die Cuts and Epoxy Phrase Stickers.

I made sure to not glue down the entire heart pieces so the ends would bend up off the page. Here at the bottom, I added an Ephemera Die Cut onto the bottom photo and I fussy cut “home” from another piece. I added “life” from the Epoxy Phrase Stickers. I tried to keep the embellishing tone-on-tone. I added matching colored thread in each of the three color areas and then finished off with sequins from my stash.

I love how the ink colors turned out here in this area. I splattered down white acrylic paint before everything was completely dry, and I love the effect that creates. I created a small title on top of the photos. I fussy cut “hello” and “smiles” from Paper 24. The “today” is from the Go the Scenic Route Puffy Word Stickers.

Squares & Circles Layout by Stefanie Ried

 Hello and welcome to a new layout by me, Stefanie Ried, with the beautiful Wonders collection! Are you enjoying the summer? I hope so, very much. Here in Germany the summer is very rainy. All the more time I have to play with Paige's great collection Wonders. This time I combined two of my favorites in one layout: a grid design with circles. Or rather, half circles.

First I cut white cardstock into small 2" squares. Then I punched 2" circles out of different patterned papers. 

I cut the circles in half and decorated them with Thickers, Epoxy Phrase Stickers, Cardstock Stickers, Chipboard Stickers, Puffy Stickers, the 8-Page Sticker Book, Banner Stickers, Floral Die Cuts, Ephemera Die Cuts, Lollies, and Paper Flowers. One of the half circles is a photo to incorporate it into the overall design.

I love the mix of all parts of the beautiful Wonders collection! Have a great day and see you soon!

Besties Spread by Krystal Idunate

  Hello friends! Krystal Idunate here today, sharing a new spread I created using Paige’s Besties cut file along with the Wonders collection. I love that this cut file helped encourage me to tell the story of my daughter’s friendship with the boy next door (well… across the backyard).

To get started with this spread, I resized the Besties cut file to fit across a 6x8” piece of plain white cardstock. I wanted to the title to be a focal point for my page with the journaling for my story housed right underneath. I cut the Besties title from textured white cardstock and then used the yellow and white striped tag from Paper 12 to back the file. In addition to printing out my typed journaling on the white cardstock (trimmed to 6.875x8.25”), I also printed out an enlarged photo of my daughter and her friend – sizing it at 4.875x8.25” to go on the backside of a previous story in my daughter’s 6x8 Story Album. Once the cut file was backed, I was ready to assemble my layout. I started by trimming Paper 20 into a strip sized at 6.875x2” and I adhered that to the top of my journaling page. Then I added the Besties title on top of that. I love the way the yellow and white totally pop off of the darker blue paper! I then took the half circles from the Chipboard Stickers and used them to create five journaling bullet point circles by placing pairs of two together. I put them in rainbow order to make the column of colors visually pleasing.

To embellish the photo enlargement, I chose three label/tiny phrase type Cardstock Stickers to layer in a column in the white space of the photo. The “Wonderful” and “Happiness” stickers both came from the Cardstock Stickers, and the tiny label sticker that I used for date stamping came from the 8-Page Sticker Book. To finish off my layout, I simply needed to hole punch both my journaling page and photo and place these into my daughter’s album.

I am so happy to have this story documented and know it will become so meaningful as my daughter’s and her friends bond continues to grow! I hope this spread inspires you to use cut files as sparks for telling your stories and to not be afraid to use them to help create a visual break for layouts that include a lot of words. Where to Next? Layout by Heidi K. Lewis

Hi folks! It’s Heidi K. Lewis here on the blog today to share a non-traditional 4th of July layout made with three Paige Evans cut files and the Wonders collection. Independence Day in the United States is usually associated with the colors of the American flag (red, white, and blue), but as I was watching the colorful fireworks that day, I felt inspired to make a colorful layout about the occasion.

To make this layout, I utilized three cut files to create a summer scene including the VW Bus & Palm Tree from the 20 Summer Cut Files 2020 and Where to Next? cut files, all available in Paige's Etsy shop. Since this layout uses a lot of cut files I decided to back each cut file with a single color to keep the layout from becoming too busy. I cut out the Where to Next? cut file out of Paper 6 and backed it with Paper 17. I cut out the Palm Treee cut file twice in two different sizes with the smaller image mirrored. Each Palm Tree is cut from Paper 6 and backed with Paper 20, which reminds me of fireworks. The dark colors of the palm trees make them look like silhouettes in the background. 

The VW Bus is cut from plain white cardstock and backed with a plain Magenta paper from the Project Pad at JoAnn. All of the backed cut files were arranged on Paper 11. I ripped a strip of Paper 14 and placed it on the bottom of the page to represent grass. Once all the cut files and my photo were arranged on the page, I started the embellishing process. Since the VW Bus was backed with a plain color, I decorated it with lots of embellishments to make it more interesting. I used metallic stickers from the 8-Page Sticker Book, Puffy Stickers, and a heart Chipboard Sticker. Embellishing the VW Bus instead of backing it with different papers was a huge time-saver and turned out super cute! I'll definitely be using this technique again in the future! Next, I embellished the Where to Next? cut file with letters from the  8-Page Sticker Book. The words on the sign tell the story of activities I did to celebrate the 4th of July. Who knew cut files could be used for journaling?! The rest of the embellishments were used to fill negative space on the page and finish creating the summer scene. I used more clear stickers from the 8-Page Sticker Book, a Banner Sticker, and the Floral Die Cuts.

Butterfly Cards by Jennifer Rambert

Hi paper lovers! Jennifer Rambert back today with two new colorful cards with cute butterflies for the Paige Evans Cut File design team with the Wonders collection and two Butterfly cut files. I really wanted colorful cards with lifelike butterflies so I chose these awesome butterflies 1 and 2.

I first used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the designs, three times for each of them, from watercolor paper. I glued a copy of each butterfly flat on the bottom. Then with several inks, I made a color gradient for each butterfly, each time starting with very dark purple.

I added another watercolor paper butterfly on top by gluing only the center so that it lifts and brings dimension, and finally I added the last butterfly on top by gluing only the center also after having achieved the same gradient with the same inks and after having embossed it with transparent powder to add shine.

I love the effect of movement created with these multiple butterfly layers and their color gradients are just what I wanted. I glued the background after distressing the edges on Paper 6 and Paper 21 to create square cards measuring approximately 5.5" and this also provides a frame which adds even more dimension. I then sewed the edges together with gold thread and added white acrylic paint and gold paint splatters to match it all up.

I finished by adding Banner Stickers to each card and they were perfect to complement the decoration of these cards.
