The One with the Scrappy Blog Tour

Monday, August 11, 2014

Hello hello! Last week I was tagged by (the AMAZING!) Kim Stewart to participate in a Scrappy Blog Tour. Kim's whimsical and floral die cut designs can't be beat. Her style is so lovely and ethereal and whimsical and I want to be like her when I grow up :)

Here are a few fun questions that I answered to get to know me and my scrapbooking more for this scrappy blog tour:

1. What am I working on right now?
I just finished filming my 30th (THIRTIETH!) scrapbook video! It's a secret project, hopefully I can spill the beans soon.
2. How long does it take me to create a project?
If I were to sit down and create in one chunk of time, anywhere from an hour to three hours, but usually I have to stop mid-layout because of the Mommy gig :) I scrap at the dining room table which is ideal because the kids can play and I can supervise and get them what they need, while still scrapping here and there. But most of the time I get my scrapping done when they're napping. I dread the day they don't take naps anymore, ha!

3. What are my favorite things to create with at the moment?
Patterned paper, buttons (photo cred: Pixels + Glue), punches, sewing machine, Silhouette Cameo, paint, and spray mist!
4. How does my writing/creating process work?
I usually start with a collection/kit and a piece of inspiration from Pinterest or a cut file or something I want to be the main focus of my layout. Once the layout is "built" I search through my shoebox full of photos that need to be scrapped and find the perfect coordinating photo. So it's usually product first, and then the photo. But occasionally I'll start with the photo.

5. How do I become inspired and stay inspired?
Pinterest of course :) And other talented scrappers who post their layouts on Studio Calico and Scrapbook.com. Keep it up!
6. What is my signature style?
We just had "Signature Style" week on the American Crafts blog and I think my style is still the same, two weeks later: I love to use bright colors, tons of patterned papers, punches, my Silhouette Cameo, watercolors, often quilt-inspired, and lots of repetition. That's my style in a nutshell!
I tag three of my favorite scrappers:

Heather Leopard - her bright and fun designs draw me into her style every time!

Gina Lideros - also a lover of patterned paper, cut files, and bright colors!

Elizabeth Gardner - this girl thinks of amazing and creative ways to use product! I'm always like, "Why didn't I think of that?!"

Look for their scrappy blog tour posts in a week, next Monday August 18th!

  1. Loved reading more about your process :) And it's actually better when they don't have nap time anymore, that means they are at an age they can entertain themselves *wink*
