Happiness - Monochromatic Yellow Layout

Saturday, May 4, 2019

Hi friends! Happy International Scrapbook Day! I have a new layout and process video to share with you today featuring one of my favorite color schemes: monochromatic! There is a challenge and prize to go along with it over in my Happy Scrappy Place Facebook Group (and 14 free cut files throughout the day!!). I used supplies from my Horizon collection and the Project Pad found exclusively in JoAnn stores - actually everything you see here can be found in JoAnn stores!
Here is the process video so you can see how this page came together from start-to-finish:

I started by die cutting my Butterfly Background from white cardstock using a Silhouette Cameo 3. Then I backed all of the butterflies with any and every yellow patterned paper I could find in the SKUs of Horizon that are available at JoAnn (Paper 01Paper 03Paper 12, and papers in the 6x8 Paper Pad). I did have to repeat some papers and that's A-OK!
I pulled out the solid yellow paper from the Project Pad (so it coordinates with Horizon perfectly!) and did some mixed media work on the background with watered down white acrylic paint and yellow Prima watercolors. I adhered the backed cut file on top once the paint dried using dimensional adhesive to create depth and shadows.
I tucked a photo of me & Jane into the butterflies on the left side and attached a yellow globe Paper Clip with a yellow heart Sticker inside at the top right corner of the picture.
The "happiness" title is fussy cut from Paper 04 and I added it to the right side to balance the photo on the left. I wrote my journaling underneath the title in a gap between some butterflies, again to balance the photo.
This page came together quickly & easily! Backing a cut file always yields lovely results so be sure to check out my 900+ designs in the Silhouette Store. Pick up my Horizon collection and the exclusive Project Pad from JoAnn stores and head over to my Happy Scrappy Place Facebook Group for the International Scrapbook Day festivities!
