Hey friends! Missy Whidden here with a new bright & summery pool layout featuring Paige’s Wonders collection and her new Sun cut file. I cut it really big on my Silhouette Cameo using Paper 14. I really wanted to keep that beautiful pattern as the sun’s center, so I sized it accordingly before cutting it. To create a layer behind that, I cut the sun again on Paper 1, which is more of a gradient yellow. I wanted to create my own mixed media background “sky” so I coated a sheet of thick white cardstock with clear gesso and then sprayed a few blue Shimmerz on it. I added a bit of water and just tilted the page in different directions to move the color around. I also used my fingers and a brush. Once it was almost dry, I splattered some white acrylic paint.
My photo has a lot of light blue in it and I think it’s a nice contrast to the big yellow sun. I wanted to bring in bits of pink and orange to break up those two dominating colors so I chose some bits from the 8-Page Sticker Book, Cardstock Stickers, 6x8 Paper Pad, and the Ephemera Die Cuts. I fussy cut a few butterflies here and a few sentiments from Paper 12. I also used one of the small Banner Stickers. I used a few pieces of Paper 12 and from the Paper 12 as layers behind the photo and mixed two blue thread colors together to tuck under there as well.
To create some interest under the photo, I made a little scalloped banner using a few of the Puffy Stickers. I also created another small title under that using some of the Epoxy Phrase Stickers and a sentiment I fussy cut from a die cut. I popped it up with adhesive foam for added dimension and I wrote my journaling under that using a metallic gold pen.
Above the photo I thought the “sky” area needed a few clouds, so I hand cut a few from textured white cardstock and layered them in around the sun’s rays. I added a bit shading to them using a gray gelato. I added a few more butterflies over here to the right side and then finished off the layout by splattering a bit of the Jen Hadfield Gold Glitter Spray.
I had a lot of fun putting this together and I hope it inspires you create something bright and fun today! Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day!
