Summer Cut File 10 of 24: Camp & Picnic

The 10th of the 24 Days of Summer Cut Files was just sent out and here are 2 layouts made with today's 2-for-1 Picnic & Camp Cut Files!

Design Team Member Kelly Daye created this fantastic layout! She says, "I’m scrapping about some sweet fairy garden adventures! Up first, ‘A Fairy Garden Picnic’ (a small title made with the Thickers) features the Picnic Cut File and it’s all designed with the beautiful Splendid collection. After paper-backing, I chain stitched with white DMC floss. Don’t you just love the sandwich with a chomp out of it?! To complete the scene, I added Paige’s Rainbow Cut File and tucked it into a Grass Border, another of Paige Cut Files. For a pretty shadow effect, the grass borders are made of two colors layered together. Paper 10 and Paper 19 were the perfect pair. The grass up front was scalloped with a border punch from my stash - I thought it was more interesting than just a plain straight edge. A little collage of pretty things you’d find at a picnic sits in the grass on the left including Cardstock StickersChipboard Stickers, and and some fussy cut fruit from Paper 9. It all adds nice balance to the photos sitting beneath the rainbow. They’re matted with a couple of the frames from Paper 6 and a little pink chipboard birdie has just flown in. Wondering about the background? I used Distress Oxides and a cloud stencil to make rainbow clouds. They were a bit too bright for my design, so I laid a sheet of vellum over them and chain stitched each one. Yep, it’s true, I’m stitch crazy :D"

Design Team Member Kelly Daye also created this beautiful layout! She says, "I've added Paige’s Flower Wreath Cut File to my design. I cut it in half in Silhouette Studio then welded it to the Camp Cut File. The entire layout was made with Splendid. Once paper-backed, I glued an offset of the cut file behind so I could easily add backstitching to the entire image. I only used 5 strands of DMC Floss here so that the stitching didn’t take over the cut file. I've embellished with Floral Die Cuts, banners from the Cardstock Stickers and Ephemera Die Cuts, a Heart Paper Clip, gold heart Chipboard Stickers and Ephemera Die Cut bees. The Thickers are the perfect size to fit on the banners! To make the faux bokeh background, I made a stencil with my Cameo of just a bunch of random circles then used Distress Oxides to shade in and overlap the circles behind the wreath. I finished by stamping with the Roller Stamp. I’m really excited to see how you use these two cutie cut files too!"
