The 9th of the 24 Days of Summer Cut Files was just sent out and here is a layout made with today's Flamingo Cut File!

Hey, friends! Missy Whidden here with a fun new layout featuring the Flamingo Cut File from Paige’s 24 Days of Summer Cut Files and the Splendid collection. Here is a YouTube tutorial:
I first cut the entire cut file from white cardstock then I resized the flamingo a few times and cut a few more using pink and orange papers from the 12x12 Paper Pad. My photo was perfect for this design so once I had its placement set, I went to work on the background. I used smooth white cardstock for that and I coated it with clear gesso. I used a mix of blue Distress Oxides and Shimmerz sprays to create a big circle of blue watercolor. I also jazzed up the flamingos by smudging some white gesso and Nuvo Glimmer Paste on them to give them some dimension and texture. I positioned these two smaller flamingos facing in and I popped them up using foam adhesive. I fussy cut pink, orange, and blue flowers from patterned papers to scatter around the page. I also used a few of the blue flowers from the Sequins & Enamel Shapes. I topped all the flowers with a few circle sequins from my stash. I went small with the title and used only blue and pink Thickers. I also added in a few Chipboard Stickers.
I wanted the middle and largest flamingo to be special. This is the one from the center of the cut file so I used pink Shimmerz to color it first. Once it was dry, I smudged texture paste on it and sprinkled tiny beads onto it. I pressed them in so they would stick to the paste. I saw my scrappy friend Brianna Lepper do this and I was instantly inspired! It turned out really cool and I love the texture it gives. Behind my photo, I layered white tissue paper and a bit of patterned paper. I tucked in tangled pink and blue threads in a few places for added color and texture.
I created a small flower cluster here in the upper left area. I added thread and one of the Heart Paper Clips. I didn’t use it as an actual clip, I just glued it down and I love how it looks! To finish I wrote my journaling and made the date with the Roller Stamp.
I hope this gives you some fun ideas to try with this Flamingo Cut File! Flamingos are perfect for summer layouts and this was so much fun to make! Thanks for stopping by!
