Stitching Cut File 11 of 36: Monstera Leaf

Friday, March 10, 2023

Design Team Member Heidi Lewis created this punny page! She says, "Hey girlfronds and guyfronds! You’ll never beleaf how cute this Monstera Leaf for Stitching Cut File is! In all seriousness, the puns and possibilities with this cut file are endless. I had several ideas for this cut file but ended up going with a meowstera theme to document my kitty, Luna. Luckily, Paige’s new Blooming Wild collection arrived on my doorstep in time for me to make one of my stitching assignments with it! I used Paper 20 which has subtle starry pattern for my background. I sliced off half of the cut file in Cricut design space to leave room for a sleeping kitty on top of the leaf. I stitched the leaf with a chain link stitch using DMC floss 505. I was inspired by the holographic foil accents in Blooming Wild to make a custom kitty sticker out of metallic silver vinyl. I made my punny title with Thickers (which I covered in stickles for extra shine) and a secondary title from the Sticker Book. I finished off the embellishments with some Mini Flower Puffy Stickers and white acrylic stars from Color Cast Designs. I beleaf that you can also make a cute layout with the Monstera Leaf for Stitching Cut File!"

Here is another layout made with today's Monstera Leaf from the 36 Cut Files for Stitching by Guest Designer Mel Davis! She says, "I created a spread about the orangutan baby at our zoo for my 6x8 album. I knew I had to use a stem stitch for this file and I love the dimension it gives. If you haven't tried stem stitch before, all it is is a reverse backstitch. On the front you stitch two holes forward and one back. On the back it looks like a backstitch! The key is to make sure when you come back up on the front that your needle is on the same side of the thread each time to give that rolled look!”

Here is a third layout made with today's Monstera Leaf from the 36 Cut Files for Stitching by Guest Designer Stemplekunzt! She says, "For this layout I used papers from the collections Garden Shoppe and Wonders. I cut out some plain monstera leaves from the beautiful papers. In the photo you can see a sawed off tree trunk and in the middle there was a heart. These are the beautiful, random moments that nature gives you.”

And here is one more layout made with today's Monstera Leaf from the 36 Cut Files for Stitching by Guest Designer Heather Rubert! She says, "For this vacation-themed layout, I stitched the Monstera Leaf with 5 different colors of thread to create an ombré effect. Then I cut out the leaf and placed it on a striped background. Hibiscus flowers, planner stickers, and journaling finish up the page!"
