The One with Up in the Mountains or Down by the Ocean?

When you're growing up you live wherever your parents live. You're a package deal. When my parents said we were moving to Washington from California when I was 10 and I said NO what happened? We moved anyways. It's funny and fun to think that in about 6 years we'll have the world at our fingertips. Where will we live? Up in the mountains or down by the ocean? I looked through all eight years of our time together and found some pics of us in both.

I love my wedding dress. Loooove it. I had it made just for me so it's one-of-a-kind.
But these dresses by B H L D N (the new wedding line by Anthro) are pretty stellar.

The One with Fox Rhymes With...

I have a project brewing in my mind...
Chris and I like to make up songs to sing to Fox and naturally they gravitate to words rhyming with Fox. LOTS of words rhyme with Fox. Methinks I'd like to make a visual book or story or something with Fox in/around/doing all the things that rhyme with Fox.

Such as:
Fox in a box.
Fox chalks.
Fox at the docks.
Fox is a fox.
Fox gawks.
Fox sees hawks.
Fox and jocks.
Fox knocks.
Fox's locks.
Fox mocks.
Fox and Nox.
Fox and an ox.
Fox has pox (Hopefully not anytime soon though...)

The One with I'll Take One of Each Please!

Every morning I get an email from Zulily - daily deals for moms, babies, and kids. I'm so there! The baby girl clothes and deals outnumber baby boy deals 5 to 1 it seems, but at least three times I week I find something I covet for Fox.... Like ALLLLL of these t-shirts from DX-Xtreme! (I just googled DX-Xtreme to try and link them up, but they don't have an official website?? If you know it let me know!)

The One with Ginger Ale

It took a lot of my brain cells to grow Fox. At least that's my excuse for when I make a mistake or forget something that I should be able to recall right off the bat. For instance, it's not a rare happenstance if I come home from the grocery store and as I'm putting everything away I notice I bought fat free Wheat Thins instead of regular, or Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds instead of plain, or Tomato Basil Triscuts instead of regular. I swear I look at the packaging first, but I guess in my haste to grab-and-go I overlook the important details. So, that being said, when I got home from the grocery store a minute ago cuz I had to get Chris some Sprite (poor guy is still Sicky McSickson :( I wasn't totally shocked when I opened what I thought was the Sprite box and saw this:

Shoot I did it again! Canada Dry and Sprite have similar colors, I must have mixed things up again!

But wait...

This IS a Sprite box is it not?


Upon further investigation, I noticed that this box had been opened and taped back shut...

Sketchy sketchy! I am SOOO returning these right now. Who would do such a thing? Take one Sprite, replace it with a Canada Dry, and tape it shut? So random.

Anyways, that's my funny story of the day.

The One with Be Happy

It's not even 7am and I've already been up for three hours, Fox has had two blowouts, one of which ended up on me, the dog threw up a few minutes ago, and Chris has been throwing up all night. Looks like it's gonna be one of THOSE days! But I'm determined to not let it get the best of me. Lately I've been so stressed and grumpy and I don't like feeling that way. So every morning while I'm showering I'm going to repeat to myself "BE HAPPY." I'm quick to be impatient and when I get impatient everyone gets impatient. My mood really does set the tone of our household so it's time I take charge of my own self. It starts with me, right here, right now.
Bring on the poop, throw up, and sleepless nights!

Until I can create something much cuter, this helps remind me of my new mantra:

The One with Fox: On Toys, Solids, and Funny Faces

Fox has a Bumbo. He has a bouncer. He has a swing. He has an activity mat. He has an exersaucer. He has regular toys. All of his toys are taking over our apartment!!

Question: Which of these toys keeps him entertained for more than five minutes at a time?
Answer: None of the above.
Oy vey.
He prefers to be held every waking moment and we must be standing up while doing so. Chris says it's just a phase but this phase is goin' on four weeks now. Silly little boy.

We started Fox on rice cereal last week and we tried his very first jar of baby food today.
Question: How did Fox like his very first sampling of mashed carrots?
Answer: You'll have to ask his clothes, cuz that's where most of it ended up.

But in all seriousness, he did take quite a few bites and is getting the hang of opening and swallowing. It's so fascinating to watch a baby grow up. All of the things that we do on a day-to-day basis without even thinking babies have to learn from scratch. From holding their head up to learning how to eat and hold onto things, they have to learn how to do it all.

Question: What happens when you blow on Fox's face?
Answer: Watch and see:

Ever since he was a few weeks old he's been doing this "trick." When we blow on him he scrunches up his face and wiggles around. I particularly love this video because he's looking right at the camera, but every few seconds he glances over at me. And the millisecond laugh at 9 seconds in? To die for!

I just can't get enough of this boy. So glad he's mine all mine!

The One with Downtown Austin

I had a pretty late flight back to LA from Austin so Reyanna took me to downtown Austin.

But first, bye-bye puppies!

And we couldn't leave without taking a pic in front of her flashy curtains! (Good idea Caroline :)

We headed to Torchy's Tacos. I was all thinkin' it was gonna be a nice sit-down restaurant so imagine my surprise when we pulled into a parking lot full of trailers-turned-fast-food! Haha, awesome. I think I understand the whole "Keep Austin Weird" slogan now :)

Next to Torchy's Tacos is Man Bites Dog.

and Holy Cacao.

We ordered some tacos from Torchy's and a frozen hot chocolate from Holy Cacao. OMG the taco was deLICIOUS and the frozen hot chocolate was divine. Plus, Reyanna ordered some chips'n'queso dip and I haven't stopped thinking about the dip. I'm seriously considering asking her to overnight me some... It's that good.

I kept checking my phone for flight updates and it said my plane was a half hour delayed so we walked down the street a bit.

Final destination:

Candy is my weakness.

I especially love Haribo gummy-anything.

I got some sour cherry chews and strawberry banana sour belts.

I lived on Now and Laters growing up.

Creepy or cool?

The store was filled to the brim with vintage things like candy boxes and scales and typewriters, so on and so forth. The good ol' days when candy bars were only 10 cents.

We still had some time before we needed to go to the airport so we walked a little bit more.

Shooooes! Or rather, boooots!

Then we headed to the airport. We got right through check-in, flew through security, and my plane was only 10 minutes delayed instead of a half hour. Once again I sat in the aisle seat, row 22 (cuz that's my favorite number for some unknown reason). The flight wasn't full so the middle seat was empty and some guy sat by the window. I told him he could only sit there if he promised to keep the windows open. I HAVE to be able to see outside... Fox fell asleep before we even took off and stayed asleep until we started descending. 10 out of 10 on the easy scale. Not even a single cry. I read The Notebook and tried to breathe through the turbulence. I hate flying. But I better get used to it cuz I'm going to Utah in 2.5 weeks! Fox gets to meet his other set of great-grandparents, lots of my cousins, friends, old co-workers, and my malm is even gonna be there for a few days! Can't wait!

Austin Texas is definitely on my list of top 10 favorite cities, even though we didn't get to see much of it, what I did see was marvelous. Thanks for the fun time Reyanna - see you again in a year, wink wink :)
