The One with the Annual Evans Family Reunion Day 4

Tuesday, August 14, 2012

This morning we packed everything up and headed to Black Butte Ranch - 2 hours from Salem. Fox and Jane slept the entire ride.

Chris's family actually used to own the house we rented.

Margi and Tom went through the house, inside and out, and pointed out everything that was the same. It would have been more effective to point out things that weren't the same! In the 15 years that they haven't owned the house it's amazing what's still the same: the carpets, the dishes, the placemats, all the decorations, the grill, the toaster, etc. I don't want to be a pill, but for the price people pay to stay there, you'd think they'd at least update minor things like the placemats! Anyway. It was very special for Tom and Margi to having everything be almost exactly as it was when they owned it. Happy 40th anniversary Tom and Margi!

The Evans Family Moto Banner is hung proud at every reunion!

Jay and his super sweet and nice girlfriend Haylie made sandwiches for everyone for lunch.
Photobucket
While everyone went swimming, I stayed back and hung out with Jane. Doing what she does best!
Photobucket
Jay and Haylie made a delicious dinner of chicken cordon bleu pasta. No pictures, I'm a slacker.

Fox found a baby doll and pointed out all its features. He even started rocking it and tried to "feed" it if you know what I mean. LOL.
Photobucket
We had our own room with a sink and office area. Since we have a hard time sleeping in the same room as Fox (every move we make wakes him up and vice versa) we set up his (or rather, Evelynd's) pack'n'play in the laundry room next door to us. He slept like a dream every night in his deluxe suite!

Nighty night!

The One with the Annual Evans Family Reunion Day 3

This morning we got up and got ready and headed to Enchanted Forest! It's not quite like Disneyland, but kinda sorta maybe a little similar in that kids love it!
Photobucket
We asked Fox if he was excited and this is what we got:
Photobucket
Methinks he was excited!
Photobucket
We got there right at lunch time so first thing we did was sit down at some picnic benches and chow down on our yummy Lunchables - care of Bethany. Then we entered into the magical forest! There were nursery rhyme figurines everywhere and little houses and mazes and knick knacks and knobbles everywhere.

Fox was running so fast from place to place we could hardly keep up with him!

Jane slept the entire time. Good girl :)
Photobucket
Note to self that this quilt would make a great layout!
Photobucket
There was a giant slide in the "there was an old woman who lived in a shoe".
Photobucket
Photobucket
Weeee!
Photobucket
Zoomed in a poor Foxy's face. He was petrified!
Photobucket
Spooky haunted house!
Photobucket
There was an area with lots of little fun kiddie rides. Fox ran right over to these floating motorized boats so we bought some tickets and let him hop on.
Photobucket
We were yelling at him to hold the wheel and steer, but it was only after he saw what the other kids were doing that he figured out how they worked. He's very observant and wants to be a big kid and do exactly as they're doing.
Photobucket
Then he and Evelynd went on this psychedelic train.

Papa fell asleep!
Photobucket
Then we went and saw a play of a version of Cinderella.

Photobucket
Two of the characters were males playing females (it's true Margi!). This guy/gal was insanely over-the-top hilarious.
Photobucket
By this time I was exhausted, so we headed out. Before we even made it to the parking lot Fox was asleep in his stroller.
Photobucket
Fox and Jane both took long naps and Chris and I sat back and relaxed. That's what Monday afternoons are for :) When Fox woke up he found some toys to play with.
Lookin' good Fox in socks!
Photobucket
Photobucket
For Family Home Evening we played a fun game where two people pulled a roll of toilet paper as fast as they could and whoever got to the cardboard roll first won!

The One with the Annual Evans Family Reunion Day 2

Sunday, August 12, 2012

Even after not falling asleep 'til 11:30pm, Fox woke up at 4:30am... so unusual for a boy that sleeps nearly 12 hours every night! I knew he was going to be cranky today... We all got up, lazily got ready for church, and then went to church.
Photobucket
Car seats are too big for infants! They need a newborn size, IMHO.
Photobucket
Fox only lasted like 10 minutes before Chris had to take him out. They went on a drive and he fell asleep instantly in the car. After Sacrament we headed over to the Lathen's house where the rest of the Evans family is staying. There's a part of the drive that looks exactly like Union Hill in Redmond, WA. Made me homesick!
Photobucket
Pretty flowers in their front yard.

Fox and Jane both took long naps and Chris and I sat back and relaxed. That's what Sunday afternoons are for! The rest of the family came back, we ate lunch, and hung out.

Photobucket
Cousin Drew and Fox played a little duet.
Photobucket
Sigh. I heart them :)
Photobucket
We went back to Bethany's for pizza for dinner. She has the most super soft rug in the world and I let Jane roll around on it.

It was a fun and relaxing day!
