1st Day of School Mini Album by Stefanie Ried

Hello and welcome to a new mini album from me Stefanie Ried with the beautiful Whimsical collection! My daughter started school in September. In Germany the first school day is celebrated with the whole family. My daughter was very excited that day. Every child gets a school bag from the parents filled with things for school and candy. I made the school bag together with my daughter.

Because this first school day was something very special for my daughter, I made a mini album for her. She gets this as a present from me. That's why the mini should be very colorful. It really has become that, haha. It would be almost too much for me, but it is perfect for this occasion. And she likes it colorful.

I found the idea for this album in a bookstore. There was a mini book that could be opened with 3D pages. I thought it was so great that I bought the book. It served as a template for my album.

I didn't want to make the album too small, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to add lots of stickers and embellishments. The size of the album is 4.5" square.

First I tried to build the album with paper scraps. It wasn't that easy and it took me quite awhile. I would have liked to have filmed the process but unfortunately my tripod broke during the shooting. I absolutely want to make the album again and then will definitely create a video.

There are a total of 5 double pages included. Each consists of 3 papers. On one paper is the photo. On the other two papers I cut out a frame. First I glued the photo and then tacked the 3 papers together. That's how the basic framework stands. These pages are then decorated. I also hung 2 pages in the middle so it looks even more interesting.


For the book cover I used cardstock and fabric. Additionally, two magnets are glued on each book cover. Because the album is opened and through the magnets on the book cover, the album remains open. I think that my daughter will put the album in her room. You can also tie the book cover together with a ribbon. As you can see, I used a lot of Stickers, Ephemera Die Cuts, Chipboard Thickers, and Chipboard Stickers. The motifs are perfect for a school day. I love these sweet things.

Peace & Joy Layout for JOANN

I found the Blue Noel paper pad by Die Cuts with a View in my local JoAnn store and set about creating a Christmas tree made of die cut branches in monochromatic colors!

I started by cutting 2" paper strips from all of the double-sided patterned papers in the Blue Noel paper pad and placed them on a brand new super sticky Silhouette mat so they wouldn't slide around. I designed a branches cut file and then cut lots and lots of them.

 I also used my Silhouette Cameo 3 to die cut a Christmas tree from white cardstock and then arranged the branches into piles in ombre order - darkest at the bottom going up to lightest. I used Tombow Liquid Glue to attach the branches one at a time, starting at the bottom and working my way up the entire tree. Also, I only applied glue to parts of the branches so they would bend up and create depth & shadows.

If I were to remake this layout, I would create the mixed media background first! To do this I applied a coat of white gesso to the background paper (I chose one that looked like snow from the Blue Noel paper pad) and let it dry. Then I added pools of water on top. While the water was still very wet, I came in with Prima watercolors and dropped them in place, mimicking the ombre effect of the tree. I also splashed black watercolors and gold spray mist around.

  Then I did some hand stitching. First I added round snowflake stickers included on a sheet in the Blue Noel paper pad staggered across the top of the page. Then I used a pencil and drew a straight line from each snowflake to the top edge of the page. I pierced a hole every 1/2cm along the pencil lines and then erased the pencil. I created a chain link stitch using all six strands of white DMC thread.

  The title is made from "peace" and "joy" stickers and I wrote journaling with a black Precision Pen inside the "o". To finish I scattered more round snowflake stickers on top of the Christmas tree! The Magic of Christmas Layout

I created a layout for the Silhouette blog featuring my Cut and Bend Doily Background cut file and the Merry Days collection from Crate Paper!

I started by cutting the design from a textured light blue cardstock and then bent up the pieces to create a super dimensional background. I backed the cut page with a dark patterned paper and then splashed all kinds of Prima - Pastel Dreams watercolors and watered down white acrylic paint on top.

 All along the right and bottom edges I piled on the Merry Days embellishments plus a photo, journaling, and my title.

Some of the petals got smooshed in the process so I re-bent them. This layout looks great hanging on the wall because it's so thick with dimension. Once it goes into an album it'll likely get smooshed again and I am A-OK with that! No stress or worries! It was just fun to make :)

In the first lesson we learn how to make patterned paper butterflies and arrange them in rainbow order – when in doubt, rainbow is the way to go! For all of the layouts in this series I used my Whimsical collection with Pink Paislee. I like to include one patterned paper in every collection that includes dozens of little pieces of different patterned papers – it makes creating layouts like this easy breezy! I simply cut them up into their individual patterns, arranged them into rainbow order, then went to punch town creating a whole spread of butterflies. It’s no secret that my favorite scrapbooking tool is a Silhouette Cameo! The things it can create and do! I haven’t even learned everything it’s capable of yet. However, I know that not everyone has a cutting machine and you love to see options for creating pages without one. To quote Michelle Tanner, “You got it dude!” In the second lesson I will show you how to create a large title without the use of a die cutting machine and still get amazing results. Continuing to lesson three, on this page I share how to create origami stars. I saw a tutorial on YouTube last holiday season and made some myself using scrapbook paper and I’ve been hooked ever since! Once you create one, I can almost guarantee you’ll want to make lots more :)! This last layout in lesson four features some of my favorite things: hand stitching with a chain link stitch, lots of flowers, and repetition of hearts, all popping off of a white cardstock background! Dream Layout by Lucile Peignon

Hello crafty friends, it’s Lucile Peignon! I really wanted to use butterflies for this layout so I took out all the papers from Paige's collections that I had to find all the blue and pink papers.

Once I had selected all the papers I wanted to use, I cut butterflies of various sizes using Paige's Butterfly Cluster cut file. I wanted to place my butterflies in a circle. I started by positioning them on my background according to their size and color. I bent up the wings to add volume.

Once all my butterflies were glued and my composition finished, I sewed them one by one on my layout. This step is a bit long but in front of a movie it's very nice! Then I worked on the center of my layout. I stuck my picture in the middle and matted it with blue patterned paper. I added a pink band to bring in the color of the butterflies.

I ended up adding embellishments and stickers in the same color tones. I also added butterfly-like embellishments. I hope this layout will have pleased and inspired you! It was a pleasure to share my creations during these six months!

"Create" Mini Album by Lorilei Murphy

Hello and happy holidays! Lorilei here today! I took a break from my December Daily and made a cute little mini album using Paige's Mini Album - Tabbed Edges cut file and Pink Paislee Whimsical! I cut the album pages from white cardstock first using a Silhouette Cameo 3 to get an idea of how I wanted to lay the album pages out. I then re-cut some of the pages from Whimsical papers 11, 14, 15, and 24 for the backgrounds.

On the first set of pages I added a photo of one of my favorite layouts using Paige's cut files and added the heart from the cut out on the cover so it would show through from the front, a rose gold foil heart in the center was the perfect embellishment! On the facing page I added the "title" of the album using the Whimsical Chipboard Thickers and a cute alpha from the Sticker Book. To finish off that page I added a speech bubble from the Ephemera Die Cuts and a teeny tiny gold star Puffy Sticker.

My next set up pages are decorated with more ephemera bits and Puffy Sticker. I cut two labels from Paper 08 and trimmed the edge on the blue label to make a banner. My photos are 3x3 and 2x2.

On the next page I had more 2x2 photos of layouts to add. This time I trimmed the Make Things word from Paper 18 and layered it with the "pretty" Die Cut. I added a little cluster using the Chipboard Stickers - that little paintbrush and paint tube are my favorite!! The facing page has a little 2x2 quote from the 2x2 Paper Pads. I adore the pattern on the card! I added the little chipboard scissors on top to finish it off.

My last set of pages features an envelope I made from Paper 10 - I tucked my journaling and more photos inside and decorated the front of the envelope with one of the gorgeous Floral Die Cuts. I think it is so awesome that the collection has an entire pack dedicated to flowers! On the last page I added a photo of the gorgeous Paige Evans and a card that says: You fill my heart with all the colors of the rainbow! Paige definitely inspired my use of color on so many of my most loved layouts!

Play Layout by Donna Espiritu

Hello, everyone! Donna Espiritu here with a new scrapbook layout for the Paige Evans + Silhouette Design Team! My project today is a scrapbook layout using Paige's Frame Banner Background cut file and the Whimsical collection.

I backed the frames banner with a mixture of the 6x6 Paper Pad, some 12x12 papers, and the 2x2 Paper Pads. I used foam tape to mount the banner cut file to the pink ombre B-side of Paper 17 background for dimension.

It's a nice idea to add contrast so I decided to embellish the top with scalloped borders. I hand drew scallops on the back of Paper 09 and fussy cut them out with my scissors. Then I embellished the frames with Chipboard Stickers, Stickers, Ephemera Die Cuts, Floral Die Cuts, etc.

Dream Play Create Layout

My newest collection with Pink Paislee, Whimsical, is not a holiday-themed line, but by picking out bits and pieces and pairing them with snowflakes, glitter, and sequins, I was able to create a wintery page for the 12 Days of Giveaways happening over at Scrapbook & Cards Today!

I started with a light green ombre patterned paper background (the B-side of Paper 12) and then die cut my Snowflake Border cut file from smooth white cardstock using a Silhouette Cameo 3. Then I applied iridescent liquid glitter glue to the snowflake border and set it aside to dry.

On the left and top edges where the snowflake border was going, I added a layer of white gesso and let it dry then splashed white acrylic paint on top and let it dry. I splashed lots of watercolors in colors to match Whimsical on top, letting it dry between each layer. Tip: I used a hair dryer to speed up the drying process.

Once the background was completely dry, I added the snowflake border using dimensional adhesive. I tucked a photo of Fox into the left side and placed a round mint sticker from the Stickers torn in half under the top and bottom edges. Then I scattered colorful Stickers, Enamel Shapes, Ephemera Die Cuts, and Chipboard Stickers on and around the snowflake border. The title was made with gold word Chipboard Stickers on the top left corner.

Next I added clear sequins over the snowflake border as well as the empty space of the layout for texture and shine. On the bottom right corner, I trimmed a gold scalloped border Sticker in half, used the pieces to edge the corner, then machine stitched over it. To finish I wrote journaling with a black pen in the same corner. I hope you're inspired to use Whimsical for your winter-themed pages!
