The One with the CARDS Challenge Card: Lovey Dovey with no Red or Pink

Friday, February 5, 2010

I dropped Joey off at the vet at 7am this morning to get snipped snipped. Poor guy. The vet just called and said he's awake and alert but I could hear him crying in the background. Breaks my heart. It's the law of the jungle I guess. So that's what's going on in the Evans family household today.

My weekly post is up on the CARDS blog and here's my take on the challenge which was to create a lovey dovey card without using red or pink.

Lover
Card is 5" square

Tidbits:
1) I originally started with a 5 x 7" card base and created a ribbon weaving piece of 4.5" square. But I used some really lumpy/dimensional ribbon and hated the way it looked so I cut off the bottom portion, hence the uneven edge. But that's alright. I'm a fan of imperfections in cardmaking. Adds some interest.
2) I was inspired by the card on this post by Katherine Wong. I love the ribbon weaving technique.
3) I don't know the best way to weave, but I start by adhering the very top end of the vertical ribbon pieces then weave the horizontal pieces into the vertical pieces. That might not make sense...I'm a visual learner so pictures would be better eh?
