Rocket Launcher Layout by Kim Jeffress

Wednesday, September 12, 2018

Hi everyone! It's Kim Jeffress here today with a new layout! My eldest son is one of those kids that once an idea gets in his head he can't let it go… he is totally obsessed with all things space and he had the idea to build a bottle rocket launcher. Recently he spent a weekend with my husband building his launcher and then testing it out. When I saw the new Saturn cut file I knew it was a perfect starting point to record this story.
I began by cutting the Saturn cut file on some white cardstock. I then took some of my favourite patterned papers from the Turn the Page collection papers (Paper 07Paper 17, and Paper 24) to back the center part of my planet. I then took Paper 17 and used it as a base for my layout. I trimmed another piece of white cardstock and then layered it on Paper 09 from the Pink Paislee Wild Child collection. Next I added some foam tape to the center of my cut file and adhered it on an angle to the center of my layout.

I clustered my photos and embellishments in and around my cut file, adding some of my elements with foam tape for depth and dimension. I added my all important strip journaling to the top section of my layout.

Finally I added a couple of QR codes to my cut file. I took some videos of my son using his rocket launcher and then posted them to my YouTube channel. I then used my QR creator to make the codes which I then printed off. I can now scan the the codes with my QR code reader and view the videos. I love using these in my scrapbooking, it adds an extra dimension and helps tell more of the story.

Thanks for joining me here today! I hope I have inspired you to tell your kids' stories, you will never regret it! I look forward to sharing my next layout with you soon.
