Love You Layout by Missy Whidden

Hey, friends! Missy Whidden here with a new layout featuring Paige’s Love You with Stitching Holes cut file, lots of the Truly Grateful collection, and a few papers from the Horizon collection. I began this layout with the intention of only using blue and green elements. That took a fast turn into Rainbow Town…haha! I love how it turned out. I cut each letter from a different patterned paper using my Silhouette Cameo 3. The small holes made it very easy to hand stitch on them. I used a different color of embroidery thread on each letter.
I used light blue cardstock for the background and I coated a lot of it with white gesso. After it dried, I used several matching Shimmerz sprays. I sprayed the colors directly onto the paper, spritzed it with water, and then used a brush to help spread the color around. I let it air dry and the colors look so bold and bright through the cut file letters! I embellished with a lot of flowers from Truly Grateful. I used Cardstock Stickers and Floral Die Cuts and I also fussy cut lots of them from the 6x8 Paper Pad as well as from Paper 15. I also tucked in matching colors of tangled thread.

I added a pink and orange scalloped border sticker and a gold word sticker, both from the Cardstock Stickers. My journaling fit perfectly underneath the photo. I used a black fine-tip Sharpie for that. I had a big vellum butterfly lying in my scrap pile on my desk so I decided to use it and I cut two smaller ones as well. I machine stitched with a bit of metallic gold thread in the centers and then folded up the wings.

To create more texture and dimension, I added adhesive foam behind all the letters. The last thing I did was add a few more pops of gold with Heidi Swapp Gold Color Shine.

I really had a blast putting this page together! Although it wound up being nothing like I had originally planned, I love the end result. Do any of your pages ever take a big turn during the process and wind up looking completely different? Sometimes that is a pleasant surprise! Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day!

  2. Hi Missy, in awe of your amazing confection of artful media and stitched elements. The colours you work with, casually spritzing, spraying and blending, always look so natural with your designs. To your question about LO's taking a turn from the plan, that's a big 'yes'! I'd say almost always, LOL. Yesterday I papered Paige's cute Ampersand cut file backwards, gah! haha.... xK
