The One with How Do I Travel With an Infant?

Tuesday, November 9, 2010

The most wonderful time of the year is upon us and with that brings family gatherings and traveling afar. But I have a question, cuz I don't know so many things about babies:
HOW DO I TRAVEL WITH AN INFANT?
We will be eating Thanksgiving with nearly my entire paternal family (sans my immediate family, boo) here in Newport Beach so that's no biggie - just pop Fox in his car seat and drive an hour or so and we're good to go. We'll pack the diaper bag with a few more diapers and an extra pair of clothes or two and that's that. Done and done.
Now Christmas. That's another story.
We're driving to Denver! Yippee!
Photobucket
But what do we bring? Since we're driving we can pack the car with pretty much anything. I'm soooo nervous about how Fox will do in his car seat for such an extended period of time. He can barely stand being in there for more than 5 minutes....
What I'm mostly wondering about is how to FLY with an infant?
Photobucket
We're going on a spur of the moment trip to Washington in January and flying there. With layovers on the way to and from... Obviously I can't pack the whole kit and kaboodle so what do I bring? I really need your expert help. I feel like I need to pack an entire suitcase of just diapers! Let alone the big ticket items like the pack-n-play, swing, car seat, stroller, bouncy, entertainment center, etc. Do I just buy diapers when I get there? Do I kindly ask my parents to get a car seat to keep at their house for our visits? Can I bring the stroller all the way to the gate and then do they check it?
HHHHHHHEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPP!
Muchas gracias.

The One with the 800th Post Winner (and Cute Fox Pictures)

Monday, November 8, 2010

Big fat huge congratulations to the wiener of the 800th post giveaway!:
Which is:I believe it's "King" of the "King and Bee" aka Melissa and Ryan?? If so, give me a ring-a-ding and you can come on by to pick up your goodies (so glad I don't have to pay shipping, hahaha :). Or if it's not King/Ryan, just email me and I feel embarrassed...

I'm turning into one of those people who doesn't blog about anything else except their baby! Ah! I swore that would never happen to me... but a lot of my theories of who I am have gone out the window since giving birth. Anyways. Here are some pictures of the cutest little baby boy in the entire world :)

The One with Team Ewan

Saturday, November 6, 2010

I got an email from my friend Nancy yesterday (or maybe it was the day before yesterday... time is kinda a weird thing to me right now...) asking if I would post something on my blog to get the word out. I thought, sure, I'll post it, no problem. But then Fox started crying, I had work to get done, take a shower, eat, sleep, repeat, so on and so forth. I didn't get around to reading the details of what she wanted posted until last night.
30 seconds after reading Kirsten Petermann and her husband James' blog and their story, I starting bawling. Crying my eyes out. Waterworks galore. Their baby Ewan was born on Sept 18 2010 and passed away a few weeks later on Oct 4 from a serious heart condition.
I imagined myself in her shoes and thinking what if I didn't have Fox sitting in my lap right now, staring up at me with his beautiful gray eyes? It's unfathomable.
So what can I/we/everyone do? There is a class bundle along with other goodies that they're selling to raise money for Seattle Children's Hospital (I heart Seattle). You can see the info here and here. And you can read all about their journey on her blog here.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart and this little guy's:

The One with Early Scrapbook Pages

Tuesday, November 2, 2010

I was getting out supplies to scrapbook for a client this morning and came across one of my first scrapbooks - the theme is all the dances I went to my senior year of high school. It's funny how trends come and go and how much my style has changed over the years. When I first started scrapbooking in 2001 7 Gypsies and Rusty Pickle and shabby chic/vintage was IN. As seen by these pages which I wish I could do-over but I won't because I think it's fun to look back and see how I've "grown."
Photobucket
Gotta love all the torn edges and layering.
Photobucket
Gotta love the TRIPLE matting of photos!
Photobucket
Gotta love the random embellishments!
Photobucket
Gotta love the variety of ribbons dangling everywhere and wrapping everything!
Photobucket
I believe my style took a drastic change when I started working at American Crafts in 2007 - which I'm forever grateful for! I love working with bright, happy, and fun colors - much more ME! :)

The One with New Things

Monday, November 1, 2010

Trying to get to 800 posts cuz the giveaway is pretty spectacular if I do say so myself :) If I blog every day then we're looking at Thursday for the big day. Keep your eyes peeled!
..................................................................................................................................................................
This weekend was full of new things.
For example: On Sunday Chris wore his new sweater, Fox wore his new outfit, and I wore my new shoes (hooray!) to church:
Photobucket
Don't they both look so handsome and dapper? :)

I was thiiiiiis close to selling the sling I bought at the sample sale a month or so ago because I tried it briefly when we first brought Fox home, I didn't like it too much, so I put it back in the box. But today Fox was being Fussy Mcfusserson so I decided to give it another whirl. This is Fox in his new favorite thing:
Photobucket
I seriously feel 9 months pregnant again wearing him around like this... but whatever makes him happy and fall asleep!
Photobucket
I (or rather Fox) got a super cute present in the mail today from dear Reyanna - can you spot it amongst the frames?:
Photobucket
Here it is up close:
Photobucket
Soooo cute!

At Babies R Us the other day, I couldn't resist getting these letters for Fox's room:

I'm thinking I'll add some more fox-themed things around it over time. Fun fun fun.

And last but not least, Joey found a new toy in the "backyard":

He fell asleep for an hour after playing with this ball for 5 minutes. Good deal.
