Xmas Morning Layout by Kim Jeffress

Yay!!! The holiday season is in full swing! Kim Jeffress here today on the blog, and I don't know about you, but I can never scrap my Christmas photos from the previous year in any other month than December! I think I’m in a better mood and thinking more festive. So when I saw the Slug Bug Christmas Tree cut file I just couldn't wait to get started. You are probably thinking - why a white tree and why a yellow car? Well at home we have this gorgeous white Christmas tree that we bought two years ago and it is my absolute favorite so I knew I had to do a white tree on top of the car. And as for the car, well, it is Summer here down in Australia and since yellow is my favorite color it was kinda a given!

I started with the Slug Bug Christmas Tree cut file and I used some white cardstock and cut it on my Silhouette Cameo. I then backed the car with some smooth yellow cardstock from Bazzill Basics. I backed the tree section of the tree with vellum. My layout base was the super fun Paper 15 from Paige’s Whimsical collection - I thought the happy clouds would be the perfect backdrop for my car. I added my car to the bottom of the layout, lifting it with some pop dots for some added dimension. When I added the tree I noticed the clouds were showing through the vellum, so I trimmed a piece of white cardstock and slid it under the pop dots under the tree. I love the soft effect that is still created with the vellum. I then took some of the new Foam Mini Thickers and some older gold ones from my stash from Crate Paper and curved my title around the bonnet of the car.

I loved the rain falling from some of the clouds so I wanted to emulate that a little with my photos so I added some hot pink ribbon from my stash to look like they were hanging or falling from the top of the layout. I then chose some words from the Stickers and Sticker Book that added to the Christmas theme and placed them around my photos. I also added some of the Rub-Ons and Puffy Stickers before adding my journaling using my Typecast Typewriter. Finally I punched stars from gold glitter paper from my stash to complete my layout.

I just love how my layout screams color and fun and festivity! Who says Christmas has to be the traditional red and green right?!

Dream & Create Layout by Zsoka Marko

Hello lovelies, Zsoka back today with a new layout I've made for the Paige Evans Design Team! I was bored awhile back so I fussy cut every paper in the beautiful new Whimsical collection that could be fussy cut :). So I may or may not have used all those elements on a bunch of my upcoming projects, ha! This layout started out as a wreath but then I tried to come up with something different.

Eventually I came up with this idea. I cut one of Paige's cut files, Scalloped Circles Background Small. I only used one of the circles and I removed the inner circle so I had a solid white circle with scalloped edges. I used textured white cardstock for this and my Silhouette Cameo to cut it.

I chose Paper 05 with the rainbow striped paper for background. From another rainbow paper (Paper 16) I hand cut a scalloped border and glued it down at the bottom. I added my Chipboard Stickers title on top of this paper. I think I need full packages of just chipboard words in every collection because I like to use these for titles!

I placed my circle on the background and checked with my photo where I want it to be. Once I was happy with the placement, I glued it down. I added some tissue paper and tags behind my photo and adhered it all to the background. I then started filling up the circle with flowers fussy cut from Paper 14. Some of them I just glued down with liquid glue, for others I used foam adhesive so they are more dimensional. I added a bunch of matte white enamel dots and a light pink ribbon bow. To finish off my page I wrote my journaling and splattered some copper paint all over the background.

I hope you like how this turned out and I could inspire you in some small way! This layout is very close to my heart, it brings back good memories of happy times. Thanks so much for stopping by today! I'll be back soon with a new layout!

Disneyland Paris Layout by Lucile Peignon

Hello everyone, it's Lucile! Today I have a new layout with the Whimsical collection. I love this collection! For this layout I used two cut files of borders: Scalloped Background Border and Scalloped Borders Border. This is the first time I use this kind of cut file and I love the effect!

To start, I cut my borders from different patterned papers. I wanted a very colorful layout so I used the most color possible. I arranged them one above the other leaving an empty space in the center for my photo. For the background I chose Paper 21 to highlight the colors of the borders. Then I stuck a photo in the center with 3D foam squares for dimension. I used Floral Die Cuts and flowers & leaves from the Sticker Book to decorate it. What would a page be without flowers? Haha!

On the other side of my photo I added my title and journaling. I used several alphabets from the collection. I love the typewriter effect for journaling! Finally, I added little butterfly Ephemera Die Cuts on the borders. I hope you enjoyed this colorful layout! Thanks for reading!

Just Because Layout by Missy Whidden

Hello again, friends! Missy Whidden here and I have a new layout featuring the Whimsical collection. I cut Paige’s Flower cut file using multiple patterned papers in three different sizes with a Silhouette Cameo for this page. I created a vertical scattered design with the flowers creating a bright rainbow effect. I pulled the rainbow striped background paper from the Whimsical 12x12 Paper Pad. I covered a lot of the left side with white gesso first and then used my palette knife to scrape on several colors of spray inks.

Once the background was dry, I glued the flowers down lightly so the edges could pop off the page. I placed the photo down towards the bottom half of the page and embellished around it. I layered in some the Chipboard Stickers and stickers from the Sticker Book. I wanted to stick with the flower theme, so that’s what I chose to layer in. I used a purple frame from the Ephemera Die Cuts as a layer behind the photo as well as some white tissue paper. I really love how the mixed media shows through the die cut flowers.

I have been waiting to use one of the Tassel Paper Clips and this layout was perfect for it! I clipped the yellow one on the bottom of the photo and then overlapped a Sticker Book sticker on top of it. I used the Chipboard Thickers for my simple title. I just love all of the patterns and colors! I machine stitched through them for some added texture.

Below the title I added a border sticker from the Sticker Book as well as a Rub-On phrase. I used the Sticker Book again to create this little flower cluster to the right of my journaling. To finish it off, I added a big butterfly from the Ephemera Die Cuts and a few butterflies from the Rub-Ons then stitched trails from them.

I hope this gives you some fun ideas to try on your next page using Whimsical! This one was really fun to create. Be sure to check out my process video for more details!

Play Layout by Lorilei Murphy

Lorilei here today! Hope you are having a good day! I'm so happy to be sharing a layout using Whimsical and Paige's cut files! I chose the Flower Group cut file and cut it from white cardstock using a Silhouette Cameo 3. I backed the cut file with an assortment of papers in warm colors from the Whimsical 6x6 Paper Pad and one 12x12 Paper Pad sheet. I also used two B-side 12x12 papers in shades of green. I love that fact that the B-sides in Whimsical have almost every color you could need!

Once I had the cut file finished, I added white gesso to my background and then began adding Shimmerz paints. I used corals and pinks similar to the papers from Whimsical. Next, I added some plain paper, book paper, a doily, and a tag under my photo for lots of dimension and texture. I tucked it beneath the photo and then adhered the cut file and photo layers to the background. For an added accent I chose the gorgeous patterned butterfly Ephemera Die Cut and popped it up on a white butterfly with some coordinating thread wrapped around it. I added that to the top corner of the photo to keep the focal point all in the same area.

I almost called the page done at that point, but I found the rose gold foil Chipboard Sticker "play" and thought it would be cute to add to the page. I added it to the top of the flowers and then I felt like I needed a bit more bling, so I mixed Vicki Boutin glaze in Rose Gold and Gold together and added it through a little heart stencil around the edges. My last finishing touch was the pretty "do what makes your soul happy" card and two tiny Puffy Stickers!

November 2018 Highlights

November started off with another painting project! I originally got a quote for around $2000 to have this room painted with colorful stripes. Pssh. I did it myself for less than $100! I use this random room with a sink and closet in the basement to exercise. All the bright colors keep me motivated!

I can't resist her cute smile!

My cat Rachel follows me wherever I go. She was by my side as I finished setting up my Original ScrapBox.

We walked over to the school playground to swing on the swings one beautiful fall evening.

We've been going to Cafe Rio almost every Saturday for my cheat meal. Gotta love the pork salad!

We saw The Grinch. It was so cute. I would love to visit Whoville :)

Picking out their annual ornament at Hobby Lobby.

We saw huge bulls in the pasture by our house for about a week. Haven't seen them again since. Where did they come from and why were they there and where did they go?!

We finally got a new Christmas tree! Our old one was over 10 years old and collapsed last December.

My parents came for their first visit. We loved showing them Colorado - we're hoping to convince them to move here when they retire in a few years.

We took them up to the Georgetown Loop Railroad which was decked out for the holidays.

Santa was even on board!

We went to Idaho Springs afterwards which is such a cute town.

We ate lunch at Beau Jo's. Check out this pizza though! And the dough is covered in honey!

Shawn (one of the other dentists) recommended we check out the lighting of downtown Littleton. We went in with no expectations and walked away so surprised! Even though my dad hates crowds, we were able to find good parking (at Chris' work), walk to the event, stay for the short parade and lighting of the street, then walk back to the car. We got dinner at Taco Bell.

Fox was baptized!

Family from all over came to witness Fox's baptism and it was really special. We had a big Thanksgiving dinner at Tom & Margi's the day before.

We put my dad to work and he trimmed off the top of Chris' Rogue so it could fit in our basement.

Then he built gingerbread houses with the kids. Best Grandpa ever!

So I walked into PetCo and saw they had a free guinea pig... welcome to the family Monica! She's a cute little squeaker.

Your Beauty Shines Layout by Donna Espiritu

Hello, everyone! Donna here with a new scrapbook layout using one of Paige's Flower cut files and the Whimsical collection.

I started with a white cardstock splattered with some pink and yellow spray mists. And believe it or not, I basically used only a couple of patterned papers in this layout, mostly Paper 05! I used a thick foam tape to mount the cut file onto the background. If you'll notice, the leaf part of the flower was also mounted with foam tape so it has a bit of height/dimension.

Then I covered the bottom part of the cut file with the same patterned paper I backed it with. I cut some of the hexagon shapes and mounted them with foam tape. I placed my photo with a doily and some messy threads to the right side of the layout. The whole Whimsical collection made it so easy to complete and embellish the layout!
