You Are Awesome Layout for Paige's Pages 17

Here is the third layout from Paige's Pages 17 at Big Picture Classes!

On this layout I shared how to create origami stars. I saw a tutorial on YouTube last holiday season and made some myself using scrapbook paper and I’ve been hooked ever since! Once you create one, I can almost guarantee you’ll want to make lots more :)

Because patterned paper is pretty thick, the smallest I would try cutting paper to is 5” square. I’ve made them up to 8” big, but you could feasibly make them from an entire 12x12 piece of paper! How cool would that be?! I’m having visions of these stars dangling from the windows and ceilings for Christmas… Definitely need to try that!

Tips: My sewing machine went through the thick stars no problem, just keep your foot steady on the pedal and keep the layout turning in a circle as you go. If you have more journaling to add then just a sentence or two, consider writing it all around the stars, on the layout edges, or filling in the entire middle section.

Shopkins Love Layout by Donna Espiritu

Hello, lovelies! Donna Espiritu here with my latest layout for the Paige Evans + Silhouette Design Team.

My daughter loves Shopkins so much, you'll find her playing all the time with these little cuties, even when we go to the mall or anywhere else. She will bring one and just hold on to them or play while waiting for our food or simply unwinding like in the photo I used here in my layout. I used the Flower Circle cut file which is one of my favorites. I backed the cut file with papers from Whimsical, both 12x12, and 6x6 papers. One of the things I also like about Paige's collections are the choices of embellishment packs available. I love flowers/florals so the Floral Die Cuts are just perfect! I would hoard these if possible, ha!

The Foam Mini Thickers are just too cute! I love that there's so many in a pack and you can use them to create long worded titles/subtitles. I played with how I placed the letters to mimic playfulness. I mixed Chipboard Stickers and Stickers to embellish the layout. This is quite a simple layout if you look closer but the tiny details make it pleasing to the eye. When I create layouts I like to take a step back and look at what I just made and if my eye is pleased and my crafty heart is satisfied, I know then that my layout is done.

Joy Hope Christmas Layout by Jana Maiwald-McCarthy

Hi everyone, Jana Maiwald-McCarthy back again and I have new layout to share! I used the Scalloped Christmas Tree cut file and Whimsical.

I knew I wanted to use the paper with all the colorful stripes on it (Paper 16) for the open spots on the tree. My idea was to create a colorful Christmas tree with tone-on-tone elements. It took some time to back all of the open spots on the tree, but it was totally worth it! I love how it turned out - a bright and happy Christmas tree. I also wanted to add some mixed media to my white cardstock so I looked into my Shimmerz paints and grabbed all of the matching colors and started to create the same order of colors like I have on my tree. Some gold splatters were added for the Christmas bling!

Once that was dry I started to look in the Whimsical Ephemera Die Cuts and all of the Stickers. I grabbed some Puffy Stickers, Chipboard Stickers, and things from the Sticker Book. I also fussy cut out a word from one of the 2x2 Paper Pads. The Foam Mini Thickers were used for some words and my title; I placed them also by color on top of the tree. Rub-Ons were placed on the picture itself and the last thing I have added was one of the Tassel Paper Clips and a rainbow paper strip on the right edge.

Love Love Love Layout for Paige's Pages 17

Here is the second layout from Paige's Pages 17 at Big Picture Classes!

I "love love love" my Silhouette Cameo 3 die cutting machine and use it all.the.time. That said, I know not everyone has one so on this layout I wanted to share how you can still create a large impactful title without the help of a machine. I did include a printable in the lesson so you can cheat a bit and use it as a template to create the repeating title.

Once again I used my Whimsical collection and picked out a dozen patterned papers to cut out the letters from and then distressed the edges to help them pop off the background even more.

I used my favorite Prima - Pastel Dreams watercolors and white acrylic paint to create a mixed media background before building the layout which adds even more pops of color. One helpful trick I've found, if your paper is warped after adding mixed media, run it through a Minc machine to flatten it or set a heavy box or weights on top overnight.

Ho Ho Ho Layout by Julie Taylor

Hi there scrappy friends, Julie Taylor back again today sharing a festive layout! There are loads of lovely festive cut files by Paige and I chose to go with this cute Cross Stitch Reindeer.

Every year my daughter likes to buy an outfit for Riley our dog, but he’s never too keen at modeling it, but he looks so adorable. I scored and cut out two of the reindeer and stitched them onto kraft cardstock. I added lots of mixed media to my white background and stamped over it with stitched circles and lots of word stamps.

I then layered up lots of bits & pieces from the Whimsical collection choosing the teal, pink, and red papers and embellishments.

I ripped the bottom of the white cardstock and added a few papers, a tag, pom-poms & embellishments to make an interesting bottom to the layout.

The wooden stars are from Paige’s Take Me Away collection and I finally found the perfect place for the!

A few splatters of ink and some thread finishes my layout. This is my last layout for Paige’s Silhouette cut file DT & it’s been an honor to work with these lovely cut files and Paige’s collections!

December 2018 Highlights

We did lots and lots and lots of fun things in December, all of which were documented thoroughly in my December Daily so here are just a few snippets :)

Jane looking particularly adorbs the whole month long.

Obsessed with the Great British Baking Show. Especially the holiday edition!

The most epically decorated house we ever did see! It's called the Gingerbread House for good reason.

We checked out the Denver Zoo Lights.

Fox likes trains.

Fox lined up some of his toys all in a row. Like mom like son :)

I worked on pretty much only my December Daily all month long. I love this annual project!

I went with Haylie and Margi to a legit Nutcracker ballet. It was beautiful.

Brunch with gals from church.

I went to Jane's class Christmas party.

And I went to Fox's class Christmas party. The best part was when the entire class erupted in a spontaneous rendition of "flossing". Oh my lol.

We saved Joey's festive bandana from last year and he adorned it again this year.

Jane and Fox helped me bake cupcakes and cookies. Margi helped the kids built contraptions from toothpicks and gummy candy.

We did our usual gift exchange at Target and read from the Coming of Christ book.

Flower Picture Frame Layout by Lady Nany

Welcome friends, it's Lady Nany once again and this time my layout for today is inspired by an afternoon on the beach with my boyfriend. To immortalize this moment, I chose to combine the Flower Picture Frame cut file with Paige's Whimsical collection.

To begin, I cut the Flower Picture Frame with my Silhouette Curio on white cardstock and used the 6x6 Paper Pad to back the flowers and leaves.

Once this step was completed, I looked for a contrasting background and my favorite in this case was Paper 23. Then I decided that I would use the frame as a big shaker, so I looked for white tulle and sewed it with a machine. I added volume around the edge with adhesive foam and filled it with sequins of various colors and cut out buttons from Paper 06.

Before sticking it on the base, I decided to add a background to the frame with Paper 05. The next thing was to decide where I wanted to place the photo and add volume and pink thread to generate texture. My favorite part (but also the one that takes more work) is decorating. For this I used flowers cut from Paper 14, Rub-Ons, Enamel Shapes, Stickers, and Chipboard Stickers. To finish, I stamped the date with black ink, wrote on the edge of the frame, and drew some asterisks with a black marker. And that's it!
