Hi friends! Valerie Bisson here and I’m so happy to be back sharing my first blog post of 2024. My layout features Paige's Geometric Stars Background cut file and her Blooming Wild collection.
American Crafts textured white cardstock is my favorite for cut files which is what I used on my layout. The Geometric Stars Background cut file is perfect for using up a bunch of scraps. I used 40 different patterned paper pieces from Blooming Wild and a few pieces from Garden Shoppe, cutting 5 triangles from each piece of paper using my Cricut. Then it was just a process of gluing them all to the back of the cut file as randomly as possible, making it look like a scrap quilt. After all the backing was done the cut file went centered onto Paper 6. I machined stitched in purple across the cut file following the diagonal lines in the pattern. Then I chose to make my photo black & white and add a little stitching to create a frame around it. I embellished with the Floral Die Cuts, a couple of word sentiments from the Sticker Book, a title from the Chipboard Stickers, and the date added to a Journaling Spot. I finished the layout with colored pearls around the page.

4x4 Sequin Albums

I have loved collaborating with Gi DeMello all the way in Brazil making custom 4x4 sequin albums! Together we've created albums to match Blooming Wild, Sugarplum Wishes, a traditional Christmas mix, and Halloween!
Last year as I was gathering all the custom things to go into my Halloween kit, Gi reached out to me and asked if I'd like a sequin album to match. Is that even a question?! OF COURSE I WOULD! Anything Halloween is the cutest and I couldn't wait to make her album the base of my class. I do still have some albums available HERE and the virtual class to go along with it can be found HERE. As for page protectors to go inside all these 4x4 albums, they're sold separately and currently hard to find anywhere but the good news is with my Halloween collection releasing this summer with American Crafts there will be 4x4 page protectors, YAY!
Since the Halloween album was such a hit we quickly made another collaboration: a 4x4 sequin album to match my Blooming Wild collection. They quickly sold out so I didn't need to do any extra marketing lol. For this album I have only decorated the cover, added a charm by Emily Inspired Designs to the spine, and trimmed patterned papers to go inside. Finishing it up with photos and embellishments is on my scrappy to-do list!
For our 3rd and 4th collab we came up with two 4x4 Christmas sequin albums: first, a mix to match my Sugarplum Wishes collection. In addition to reds and greens there are also pink and blue and gold and purple sequins - give me all the colors! I took pictures of all the spreads, wrote instructions, filmed flip throughs, and turned it all into a PDF which you can purchase for $10 HERE. I was originally going to add a photo-a-day throughout December 2023 but ended up dedicating all my scrappy time to my full-size December Daily (kits & class available HERE). So I'm actually thinking about switching the numbers on the cover to 2024 and using it for my DD for this year! Our 4th custom 4x4 sequin album is a traditional Christmas mix of red, green, white, and gold sequins. For my album I went back in time and made my missing December Daily for 2013. I made a DD for 2012, skipped 2013, and then have made one every year since 2014 so I always felt like 2013 got gypped and it was an extra special year because it was our first Christmas living in Germany and goodness knows Christmas in Germany is the epitome of Christmas! Once again I took pictures of all the spreads, wrote instructions, filmed flip throughs, and turned it all into a PDF which you can purchase for $10 HERE and it includes all the cut files/templates I used throughout.
Four beautiful 4x4 sequin album collaborations and I love each one oh-so-much! And now, onto the fun scrappy news: our next collaboration will be 6x8 sequin albums which fit standard 2-ring 6x8 page protectors from Scrapbook.com and Simple Stories - hooray!! Bigger is always better right? ;) We have plans in the works for Valentines, Disney, and 4th of July sequin albums. I'm so so so very excited. As of right now we are waiting for Gi to receive her shipment of binding mechanisms and additional sequins to create the custom mixes, so it will be about another month or two before I have pre-orders open. You'll be able to order them individually or all 3 in a bundle and the price for each individual album will be around $57 plus shipping. These albums are handmade with love and there's nothing anything like them anywhere else in the world! They truly are the most beautiful albums to hold your precious memories!

January 2024 Highlights

Here's what we were up to in January 2024!
Technically the next two pictures are from December 2023 because my blog post was all ready to go by the time we went to Jay & Haylie's house for a New Year's Eve party.
We had fondue with Evans families from near and far and it was fun and the best part is we were home and asleep in bed waaay before midnight ;)
We flew to Seattle to spend time with my parents. Bye bye Denver!
Hello Seattle!
It's been 5.5 years since we moved to Colorado and every time we've gone to visit my parents we've wanted to go to DuPont to see the house we lived in for that one year after we moved back to the states from Germany. Finally we did it! My parents picked us up from the airport and we drove straight to Joint Base Lewis McChord. Fox & Jane didn't remember it at all. We drove by their elementary school and they didn't recognize it either. Kinda sad!
It's soooo green. I'm convinced if the apocalypse happened there would be no signs that humans even existed here because nature would totally take over everything.
Pokemon vending machine at Fred Meyer is a must.
The sun did make a glorious appearance once or twice during our short visit lol. Gotta love the PNW!
When it wasn't raining we went on walks.
My brother and his family came to my parent's ward for church. It's crazy that I'm now almost 40 and some of the people there knew me when I was 10-18.
Homemade individual pizzas for dinner.
I love spending time with my family.
Flying back home over the Rockies.
I read a book! I'm still on my Nicholas Sparks streak. This is the last of his books with an accompanying movie. He has like 9 more books after this one, but none with movies. There was a time when every book had a movie! I hope he makes more movies, especially The Wish since that's my favorite book of all time.
I love this passage from The Longest Ride.
We went to an Avs vs Knights game and we won 3-0. Go Avs!

The next night we went to a Jim Gaffigan show at the Paramount.
We'd never been to this venue before and it was so classic!

Fox & Jane had their first combined YM/YW activity which was a scavenger hunt at the mall. I had some shopping to do and it was funny how many times I ran into them throughout the hour.
I added some fake flowers and real plants around the house to add a touch of greenery.
It's been about 3 years we remodeled our kitchen and I still love it so much! Not that I know how to cook yet.......

Our next project will be renovating our primary bath and closet. I'm excited!!
Jane had 6th grade graduation photos so we straightened her hair and in this light it looks red!

The last weekend in January I drove up to Lyons near Estes Park to spend a night with some scrappy gal pals. I spy wild turkeys.

Onto the cats! The best part of every month :) Whenever they snuggle I just have to document it. I even caught Sandy mid-lick to Amy's face.
1) Sandy on my stool, she's ready to scrap. 2) Leaning on her cup with toys. 3) Paper makes a good nap spot. 4) Sandy in a bucket. 5) It makes me nervous when she hangs over the edge like this but looking up her face is soooo cute! 6) Same as 5. 7) Floofy. 8) Sticking out from under my side of the bed. 9) Floofy paperweight.
1) Amy is always extra snuggly when I get back from being gone. 2) Purrrrty! 3) Nap time. 4) She needs lots of loves throughout the day and seeks me out. 5) I spy Amy on the kitty cam. 6) Can't be bothered. 7) Shrimp pose. 8) Lol Amy peeking out from under my side of the bed. 9) Snuggles while watching a Chiefs game.
When we were in Seattle I checked the kitty cam no less than 20 times an hour and was so happy to finally see both at the same time

I spent every second of scrappy time I had creating the projects for PaigePals6. I'm hoping to release to alumni on February 20th.
I love border punches! I had a meeting with AC to try to convince them to make more, stay tuned.
I watch football now.
It doesn't seem like much scrappiness happened in January, but a LOT was going on behind the scenes and I can't wait to reveal it all in good time :) Here's to a lovely February!
