The One with the Fashion Quote

The Sartorialist, a blog by Scott Schuman, started as a way to share photos of people that he saw on the streets of New York that he thought looked great. While working in the fashion industry for 15 years, he always felt there was a disconnect between what he was selling in the showroom and what he was seeing real people wear in real life. Shortly after 9/11, he closed his showroom and began focusing more on photography. He didn’t want to become a “fashion photographer” but he knew somehow that his loves of fashion and photography would eventually merge. And so began The Sartorialist blog.

I found a quote on his blog that has become my new philosophy about fashion:
"Great personal style is made up of a certain percentage of "always" items and methods, mixed with a certain percentage of "sometimes" fashions, and a certain percentage of "nevers"."

Now if only there was a definitive formula for those "always", "sometimes" and "nevers". That would take a lot of thinking out of my morning routine!
