Horizon Coptic Book & Kits

With each of my scrapbook collections for Pink Paislee I love to create a coordinating handmade coptic book. In college I took a bookbinding class and haven't stopped making them since! I often get asked if I put anything in them and truth be told mostly no, BUT, I did create my December Daily 2017 in one and I love it. You can also use these books for gifts, diaries, "smash books" or art journals, wedding sign-in books, mother-to-be baby shower books, as a scrapbook, making lists, for instax photos, book reviews, and so much more. I love the exposed binding and tying charms, stickers, pearls, beads, buttons, sequins, & more into the binding.

Here is my coptic book created with Horizon:
I gathered 12 of the rainbowiest patterned papers for color inspiration and grabbed acrylic paints to match. I spent a couple hours dabbing paint swatches onto two wooden covers.

Then I sewed the book together and tied the Horizon Charms and Shaped Paper Clips as well as some jewels and pearls from my stash into the binding as I was sewing. This makes the book so eclectic and unique!
The finished size is 4x6" so it will fit regular size photos perfectly. Almost every year for my birthday or Christmas I ask my dad to cut and sand all of the wooden boards for me :)
You could also switch up the color of thread for a different look. Here I just used white thread to tie in the white acrylic paint splashes. I've also made books with two or three colored threads and simply switched colors halfway or a third of the way through sewing.
The book opens flat so it's really easy to create and write inside. I used regular printer paper for the interior pages but you could also use all patterned papers, watercolor paper, lined paper, transparencies, felt, vellum - if you can pierce a hole through it you can add it to your book!
Since the Horizon collection has a lot of travel-themed elements in it, this book would be great to document a vacation or staycation!
I have an online class and kits available! You'll love learning how to make these books - after making the first one you'll be hooked!
Thanks for stopping by, wishing you a wonderful day!

  2. Paige, I keep seeing the Coptic Book you made for Pink Paislee promos that has eyelets on the front. I was wondering what kind of material you used for the cover or if there were any other difficulties or tricks to making it with eyelets. Thanks so much! Kelsey
