Fall Wonder Layout by Kelly Daye

Hello friends, it’s Kelly Daye here with a new layout made with Truly Grateful! The colours, patterns and phrases in this collection continue to WOW me with their versatility. Since I haven’t seen many layouts yet with Paper 24, I really wanted to design something unique and pretty with it.
I started by cutting the lines of triangles into strips. Then, I flipped every other strip upside-down to form diamonds instead. I focused more on pinks and greens to match the Floral Die Cuts I planned to use. I glued each set of strips onto a white cardstock base, leaving the top third of the background white.

To make a floral banner where the patterned paper meets the white, I started with Paige’s sweet, Flower Bunch cut file. I cut it twice to span across the page and flipped one over to vary the look. Once the cut file was glued in place, I topped it with four colourful flower bunches from theFloral Die Cuts. A couple are popped up with foam tape and the petals gently bent up to add texture and shadows. I popped out the centre’s from three of the Wooden Buttons to add to the flowers. Once my banner was in place, it was time to add personality to the page. The title, ‘Fall Wonder’ is made with Epoxy Stickers and Puffy Phrase Stickers. Then I added nature’s bounty throughout, including mushrooms, leaves, colourful dots, a small butterfly and a cute little squirrel gifting me her acorn. All can be found on the Cardstock Stickers and Puffy Stickers. The largest butterfly and a few of the paper leaves are included in the Ephemera Die Cuts.

The lower photo is complemented with a smaller cluster made from a piece of the same cut file and another flower bunch. The ampersand is from the Thickers and ‘Magic’ is from the Puffy Phrase Sticker. The entire layout was matted over pretty green Paper 20. I always like adding a bit of a frame, it’s like a painting on a wall. Finally, I glued on various coloured sequins, splattered with white paint, pink paint, dotted with gold Stickles, gold paint, and stitched around the whole layout with a simple chain stitch in white. It’s always the little touches that tie everything together, don’t you think?

Thank you so much for coming by, I’m so happy you did!

    1. Thank you Julie for your constant and kind support! It's the perfect collection for so many reasons, but most of all, I love the extra injection of bolder colour it brings to fall. So much more 'me' than the usual brown, orange and white! xK
