Happy International Scrapbook Day 2024!
Here is the layout I made for my challenge which is to add HAND STITCHING! I embroidered the hundreds of flowers on the B-side of Paper 4 from my Blooming Wild collection.
And guess what?! I have a process video showing you how I made this page! Check it out here:
All-in-all I spent about 24 hours poking the holes and stitching all the flowers. Initially I even wanted to add a French knot to the center of every flower but that would have added probably another 8-10 hours of stitching and I ran out of time.
I used DMC thread colors 3712, 21, 3804, 604, 151, 819, 3820, 18, 772, 989, 505, 3849, 3811, 3841, 806, 3747, 211, 3807 and (not shown) 347.
In the open space between the stitched papers I did stenciling with modeling paste and a palette knife through one of the 15 freebie cut files I'm giving away throughout today in my Happy Scrappy Place Facebook GroupThe cut file I used as a stencil is called Flower Background and I shrunk it down to 6" to make the flowers more dainty to stencil through.
Since I wanted the stitching to be the main feature of this page, I didn't add too much else in the way of embellishing. I tucked two 3x4" photos of Jane taken a few days ago in front of a beautiful blooming tree into the bottom panel and then covered the torn edge of the top panel with Floral Die Cuts. In between the paper flowers I added a few Mini Flower Puffy Stickers.
I placed a "hello" banner from the Sticker Book and "SPRING" Thickers along the curve of the bottom panel to create the title then clustered a tab and labels from the Journaling Spots over the right photo for adding the date and caption.
I hope you're inspired to try out hand stitching on your pages! Maybe start with just a few flowers and if you're feeling up to it you can stitch the entire paper! Let me know if you have any questions and be sure to join in all the fun happening over in my Happy Scrappy Place Facebook Group today for International Scrapbook Day!
