Hi scrappy friends! Monique Lowe here sharing a new layout using Paige’s beautiful Happy Haven collection!
To start, I worked on creating a decorative panel for my layout. I cut a strip of white cardstock to 6x12" and distressed the long edges using my scissors for a soft, textured look. I then trimmed five uneven strips from Paper 9 and used my fringe scissors to add a fun, textured detail. I adhered them to the panel, leaving white space between each one, and finished the bottom edge with a thin strip of the same patterned paper. To add a bit of whimsy, I used a heart punch on a selection of Happy Haven patterned papers, pierced a hole in the center, and threaded the hearts along embroidery floss, color-coordinated and embellished with tiny seed beads and sequins. I wrapped each thread around the panel between the fringed layers following a cheerful rainbow sequence. For my base, I chose a bold pink and gold polka dot paper from the 12x12 Project Pad and placed the decorative panel slightly off-center to the left. To frame it, I tucked in strips of white and pink patterned paper from the 12x12 Project Pad along with a pink manufacturer’s strip for extra detail. I added hand stitching down both sides of the panel to add texture and balance. For the photo, I kept it simple – just a black & white picture backed with Paper 4 and a few Floral Die Cuts for embellishment. I finished it off with a gold-edged tab from the Journaling Die Cuts and a text sticker from the Project Pad for my title. Thanks so much for joining me today! I hope this layout inspires you to mix texture, color, and simple techniques to create something beautiful using the Happy Haven collection!
