For our 19th anniversary we booked a trip to Orlando to see Starset at the Welcome to Rockville festival and spend a day at the Magic Kingdom at Disney World!
Side story - Chris and I were married on Tuesday May 8th 2007 and went on our honeymoon to Disney World. I just had to plug in my external hard drive and find photos for comparison.
I was a few weeks away from turning 22 when we got married. We were babies!!
19 years later to the very day. Same place. So much more in love. What a life we've built and had together!
Back to the recap. With my mom at home to watch Fox & Jane, Chris and I flew from Denver to Orlando. It's funny to see all the aqua rectangles upon landing, everyone has a pool!
We rented a car and drove straight to Target to get some groceries and ponchos then went across the street to Skyline Chili. Chris had never been here before, I've been once a couple years ago before my Caribbean Cruise & Crop. We LOVE Cincinnati chili and it was just as good as I remembered!
Chris loved it too.
We booked a room at the Waldorf Astoria. It was 5pm when we finally walked in to check-in after a morning of travel and an afternoon of lunch & errands, and yet, they said our room wasn't ready... But it was 5pm and we had a 12pm check-in time?? We waited around for 20 minutes, our room still wasn't ready, then I made Chris go get us a room no matter what. So that was a little weird, but our room was beautiful!
We've been to Disney World together maybe 7 or 8 times and separately as we were growing up a few more times and yet neither of us had ever been to Disney Springs! No time like the present - let's check it out!

We sat and enjoyed this dessert together and relished in the AC because Orlando is HOT & HUMID.

Chris's algorithm is finely tuned to all-things Disney and he'd heard about this cookie place called Gideon's. Of course we had to check out the hype.
The line to get in was about 20-minutes long. Good prep for Disney World tomorrow!

Halfway to Halloween - the BEST holiday IMHO.
Whooooooooa. Check out these cookies. We bought 6 (the bag weighed like 10 pounds) then finally Ubered to our hotel.
The next morning we took the hotel shuttle to the Magic Kingdom.
The shuttle took much longer than they said it would so we actually missed rope drop which was a bummer but oh well. Next time we'll Uber.
We made it!
We got the photo pass so we could get official photos taken instead of relying solely on selfies.
After getting photos taken at the entrance we walked in to the Magic Kingdom.
The first ride we went on was Ariel's Grotto.

So yummy! I definitely want to eat here again next time we go to Disney World, which just so happens to be in December!

And probably the last because holy moly going in circles super fast is nauseating!

We had the most amazing day at the Magic Kingdom. Still so in love and looking forward to the next 19 years!
As we were waiting for our Uber I looked down at my hand and noticed this weird rash, like melasma. It took nearly 6 weeks to go away. So weird.

The next day was the Welcome to Rockville Festival! Before driving out to Daytona we went shopping at The Mall at Millenia to get anniversary presents and grab lunch. Then we drove to the Daytona International Speedway where the festival took place.
WELCOME TO ROCKVILLE!
We bought a couple Starset shirts at the merch tent.
The band on stage before Starset was Yelawolf and they were atrocious and wasted practically their entire set just jibberjabbering. It was so strange. Not professional. Anyhoo. We weren't there for them, we were there for STARSET!
As soon as Yelawolf finished we pushed our way up to the front.

People were crowd surfing and moshing. We were not those people.
Dustin went crowd surfing then came and sang right in front of us.
Super cool moment. The couple next to us FREAKED OUT. I've got it all on video.
Starset played their 30 minute set and then left the stage. It was so awesome to see them live. They're going on tour with Breaking Benjamin and Chevelle this fall so we have tickets to see them in September woohoo!
As we were figuring out who to see next, the festival was actually paused due to inclement weather so we booked it back to the car and got totally drenched from the torrential downpour. We decided to call it good. We came. We saw. We rocked.
We drove on THE Daytona International Speedway!
Since we were footloose and fancy free, we decided to go back to Disney World for dinner at the Polynesian.
We parked at the Transportation & Ticket Center and walked right over to the Polynesian Resort.
We've decided after staying at 5 or 6 different hotels on property that the Polynesian is our absolute favorite.

We walked around for a bit and reminded ourselves that we'll be back in December.

We were the only people on the tram back to our car because we had only been there for 45 minutes.

Up up and away, flying back to Denver!
Tom & Margi's 75th birthday cruise is next month and departing from Orlando so we'll be all the way back in just a month, whew!
