Holy smokes, holy cow, holy Toledo, or, in the spirit of the season, holy angel - this is my 1400th post! I've been blogging nearly everyday since April 9th 2008. Over 4 years now! Every 4-6 months I turn my blogs into books using Blog2Print so hopefully future generations can read all about the shenanigans of our little family.

To celebrate reaching this milestone, I've got some goodies to giveaway!

1 yard of each of the 24 colors of baker's twine that The Twinery makes!
Photobucket
INCLUDING the brand new silver and gold baker's twine!

Photobucket
And last, but not least, a PaigeBook!
Photobucket

My new favorite thing to add to these books is jewels and charms and now pearls to the binding! Gives it a little something extra :)
Photobucket
The signatures (or pages) are made with white printer paper and each set is sandwiched between a sheet of patterned paper from the Random collection by Crate Paper. For a decorative touch I punched the edges of the patterned papers.

  1. Oh WOW!!!! What an AMAZING giveaway!!! My fave tradition is to put up the tree and hang our ornaments!! When I became an adult, I always dreamed of having the 'perfect' tree, where everything matches and there was a theme, like you see on TV and at stores. About 2 years ago I realized, I actually LOVE our mismatched tree!! It is full of ornaments from my hubby's and mine childhood, one's for our kids, family ones, ones that my Mom has made, friends and family have given us -- just a mismatched tree that is full of love and memories!!! And that is why it's my fave tradition!!! :)

I always curl up on the couch with a quilt and with a cup of cocoa and a cookie. I don't know how many years I have watched it (often enough that I know huge blocks of dialogue!) but it never fails to kindle my Christmas spirit. Thanks for the opportunity to win, and congrats on your milestone!

  91. Our favorite tradition is walking through the "Portraits of the Price of Peace" nativity at a group of churches near us. The best part, the churches are all of different faiths, but all come together to tell the story of Christ's birth. As you walk through the neighborhood, there are little scenes that you stop to read a Bible verse and see it being acted out by members of that church. The kids love that there are real animals!! Each church is open with choirs or musical groups singing inside, and there is always cookies and hot chocolate :) It's only 1 weekend a year, rain or shine, so I'm hoping we have great weather next weekend in So Cali!!

On Christmas morning, my sister and her family come over to open gifts and then they leave to go to my brother-in-laws moms house for Christmas dinner, Mom and I go catch a movie and have a quiet dinner at home. Sometimes she hates the movie, sometimes she loves it, but it is a time just for us. And it takes the pressure off the rest of the day.

  140. My favorite tradition is making a gingerbread house... From scratch... Every year... since 1987! My mother and i made the first one for my first grade Christmas party. I've provided a new generation to continue the sometimes disastrous venture. Just had our third baby last Friday, so now there is one more little to help out. A few years ago, we had a gingerbread house decorating party with a few moms and kiddos. It was so fun. I'm ready to get that tradition in full swing once our house is finished. You should have a little party like that with your Ward. The bigger the party, the bigger the variety of candy for decorating, the less pressure for perfection, and definitely more fun. Graham crackers make great house bases when you're playing with littles. Merry Christmas!

My favorite family traditions are the new ones we are making together as a little family with my husband and son. My favorite is an idea I stoe from a family at church. They have two little ones and they came to our house and sang a Christmas carol to us and dropped off some cookies. I loved it!
We did it as a family and we chose a couple houses to visit and my son loved knocking on the doors and hearing us sing. This will definitely be a fun tradition to carry on!

  148. Me and my two older sister would always play something on Christmas Eve for my parents. One sister plays the guitar, the other the ukulele and I play the flute. So we always put together a little show of Christmas Carols and hymns, it is always on of my favourite Christmas traditions.

  152. One of your best giveaways ever, I think! That PaigeBook is divine! :-D

So many traditions... so little time.

My parents (or grandparents) always gave us pajamas to open on Christmas Eve, and we got to wear them that night. I LOVE that tradition, and hope to do it with our kids too. :-)

We also always had waffles with caramel syrup and whipped cream for Christmas morning breakfast... along with orange juice smoothies. So tasty. :-)

My dad always played Mannheim Steamroller while we decorated the house. We didn't do that this year. Jeremy can't stand that music. LOL. I was sad, and it was definitely missed. I still think I'll play some though... and find *something* to decorate, so it's still technically, a tradition. ;-)

    ReplyDelete

My favorite Christmas traditions is opening up our advent calendar everyday! We just started one with Scarlett and I put little beanie babies in it and things like that.

  154. I can never resist an opportunity for a Paigebook!

One of our family traditions was to go take a picture with Santa at the mall every year. My mom started when I was just a few months old and she continued to drag us all there every year, even when my brother and sister and I were teenagers and then young adults. The last few years, we've dragged ourselves as a gift to her but this year we are free - we have a grandbaby to take the picture instead!

This is second cousins and everything! After dinner we all gather in the family room and reenact the manager scene as my great grandma reads it from the scriptures. We have been doing this my entire life.

  158. Holy cow - what an amazing giveaway! (CONGRATS!!)

My fave tradition is eating soup on Christmas Eve. We used to have a full meal, but the 'rule' was that we couldn't open presents until the dishes were done. The kids would race through dinner, and hound our parents to finish! My grandma started making her split pea soup instead, and not only is it delicious, there are fewer dishes to wash. Win Win!

  160. When I was a kid, my dad would put out "luminarias" (The Spanish name for candles in sacks) all around the balcony and front yard of our home on Apple Ave. One year, we went to Florida for Christmas and he took a few sacks and candles to put on the balcony of our condo.

But my favorite tradition NOW is drawing names and giving everyone $5 to spend at Target. It's funny what people come up with. We'll have to think of how to include Jane and Fox this year. :)

In all the holiday craziness, I love the quiet moment when I get to set up the navitity set that my husband gave me our 1st Christmas together. I love that last peaceful moment before the relatives arrive, kids have ate too much candy, & the floor is covered in wrapping paper.

I loved going to a candle lighting service on the evening of Christmas Eve and, staying up late, opening presents at midnight!! Then we could all sleep in on Cmas day and whichever parent had to work that day didn't miss any of the morning fun. This year, I have my first baby and can't wait to make new traditions with him!!

As a child, my brother, cousins, and I would get to spent the 3-4 days leading up to Christmas Eve on my Grandparents ranch (no body for miles, generators and kerosene lamps, and a real *cook house*-now part of the Joshua Tree National Forest in So Cali). Some of my favorite childhood memories were spent there.

  185. You have the most amazing blog and I always find inspiration here :) My favorite Christmas tradition is our Advent calendar. When we moved south a friend that welcomed us into her family and took care of us like we were her children started a reusable Advent calender for my children. Every year I return it after Christmas and she spends all year finding little trinkets and treats for the children and they just LOVE it. It's so incredibly special to me because it's my connection to her.
Also, my 4 year looks at all your pictures with me and stated "I love Jane". So sweet!

  199. My favorite Christmas tradition is cooking a huge breakfast after opening gifts. Everyone is in the kitchen at the same time and it gets super crowded. But it is fun.

And, December 8 is my b-day!

  200. My favourite Christmas tradition is tacos Christmas eve with the missionaries and then after they leave we watch A Christmas Story. When we were kids the missionaries used to come with us and my dad would dress up as Santa and visit our friends and tell them to go to bed nicely for their parents. It was fun!

Congrats on your 1400 post! I think your dedication to blogging is fabulous and you are going to love looking back on your books someday!
